The Crowning Glory millinery sits at the end of a short alley, taking full advantage of the relative openness and lower heights of its neighboring businesses. When the afternoon sun slants down into the alley, the cheerful yellow exterior of Kenash's highbrow hat shop seems to glow with a golden shimmer. It's eye catching and beautiful - in short, everything that Kenashern Dynasty strives for. The interior of the ladies' millinery is equally elegant; honeyed oak flooring and crisp white trim are accented by the palest of pink walls. It is a very feminine effect, and one that encourages the ladies who enter to get in touch with their softer side. Outside the shop a woman may be rough, coarse, unpleasant or even unattractive. But once inside, Brooke Draer does her level best to make each one of them feel like a Princess in need of a new crown. The shop floor is dominated by racks upon racks of filmy, lacy, feathery headwear. From beautiful hats to delicate scarves to intricate, ethereal fascinators, there is an accessory within fit for everyone. And if, by some strange stroke of misfortune, a lady is unable to find a hat or anything else that speaks directly to her, special requests and commissions are always most welcome. To the rear of the shop, through a pair of unassuming white shuttered doors, lies the work room. Shelves are packed to overflowing, unable to entirely keep the tools of Brooke's trade from spilling down the front. Lace trim, velvet cloth, strings of beads and jewels are strewn haphazardly over clean but cluttered work benches. The casual onlooker might well wonder how she manages to create the artistic pieces on display in the front within the havoc and chaos of the back. But there is order in the chaos, and without fail, Brooke is able to find each and every piece of pomp and frill in her inventory. Her workroom is her sanctuary, and the Draer slave she occasionally employs to watch the front is expressly forbidden to even open the work room door, let alone step foot into its hallowed recesses. A distant cousin with no particular talent of note, she knew early on that she would have to make her own way outside of the plantation. Luckily, she discovered that she had a talent for and a love of fashion design. Thus, she asked her family to back her business venture, busily crafted start up merchandise, purchasing what she could not create fast enough, and opened the Crowning Glory. In the years since, it has become the place for Kenash's most fashionable ladies to purchase all manner of headwear. Within a few short years, Brooke was able to repay the Draer Dynasty, and now enjoys a comfortable life, modest reputation for style and business savvy, and a good deal of freedom to do as she pleases. At busier times, mostly around upcoming festivals or celebrations, she handles the shopkeeping duties in the front while Brooke works on commissions in the back. Having been born a slave and raised as one, Essiter knows no other life. Lately, though, she's heard talk of a renegade group of runaway slaves - the Rujaro. The older she gets, the more unhappy she becomes with her lot in life - she's beginning to think that running away to join the Rujaro may be her only chance at happiness. Goods
