Elva Skyglow Appearance Race: Vantha Gender: Female Age: 16 years Birthday: 48, Summer 497. Birthplace: Avanthal - Skyglow Hold Appearance: Elva is 4’ 11” and weighs 110lbs. She has a small frame and modest curves. Her skin is dark with a gold shimmer and her right shoulder and forearm are marked with long, thin scars from a childhood accident. Her black hair falls just above the small of her back in wild waves and is highlighted with shades of deep blue. Her bangs are styled to sweep across her forehead to the left. She has a small face with subtle features. Gold – Focus Deep blue – Frustration Vibrant green – Excitement Rich red – Fear Orange – Confusion Silver – Contentment Lavender - Love or Adoration Yellow - Embarrassment Character Concept It is easy for outsiders to be thrown off by Elva’s enthusiasm and lack of attention to personal space. She enjoys physical affection such as hugs and is not shy about giving or receiving them in public. Her expressive body language enhances her storytelling as she stands and walks around or acts out a scene. If she is forced to sit she will gesticulate with her hands and throw her arms about. She is working on stories of her own but she likes the classics so her tales can be predicable. While generally friendly and easy to talk to, some find Elva abrasive. She is egocentric, usually in her own head but it can bleed into her treatment of others or the way she speaks about them. She is jealous and competitive when it comes to artwork and can be extremely judgmental. She could be said to have two faces, the one she presents to others and the one she keeps buried. Self-imposed isolation in earlier years has made her unaccustomed to company. She avoids personal attention, preferring to direct it towards what she creates rather that who she is as a person. While she uses the work of others for inspiration, and admires many artists, she is hesitant to give honest and encouraging praise. After her grandmother's death she has improved on this part of herself but is still intensely competitive and has trouble backing down from a challenge. Character History Elva was born late in the Summer of 497 AV in the Skyglow Hold. She was a scatterbrained child, often lost in fanciful daydreams. She was quite popular at the Northern Star with the younger children thanks to her knack for exaggeration and active storytelling. She frequently encouraged others to get involved and help her act out the scenes. As she aged she grew more competitive and jealous of her peers and began isolating herself. By age fourteen she had lost a majority of her friends and gained a reputation among the youth of Avanthal for being unfriendly and rude. Elva's mother and father met at a young age, Anneth Frostfawn and a young boy of Skyglow. They married the moment they came of age and shortly after conceived a child. What should have been a time of happiness for her family swiftly turned tragic when her father died of sudden illness. Stricken with grief her mother ignored her own health. It took her collapse and the horror of almost losing her unborn baby to wake Anneth from her stupor. The remainder of her pregnancy was difficult but the child, a baby girl she named Elva, was healthy. She remained bedridden for several months. Other mothers of the Hold, including Elva's grandmother Larna, took on the duty of raising the baby until she recovered her strength. Anneth and her Elva never bonded as mother and child and developed a more professional, mentor and student dynamic though there is love and respect between them. Larna, called Nana, was the light in Elva's life. She was an opinionated woman known for her deftness with a needle. She encouraged her granddaughter to write her own stories to tell her friends and they would often sit together while Larna sewed and Elva sketched, curled up in her grandmother's fabric basket. When Elva turned 13 and began to pull away from social interaction Larna expressed her concern. With childish lack of foresight Elva grew annoyed with her grandmother for "interfering" in her life and began retreating from her as well. They were never on bad terms but the relationship still soured considerably and they no longer spent quiet moments together. Elva's grandmother passed away suddenly in Spring of 511, devastating Elva. She vowed to honor her grandmother and atone for her foolish behavior by reaching out to others, but she is finding it difficult to let go of her jealous streak.
