[The Menagerie] Puppies! Puppies for sale!

Spirit took in the name easily, mentally listing her down the owner's names she'd discovered. Not like she was going to remember them, but it was nice to try. After the greeting, she sent the shy Vantha on her way with a wave, glad she'd found a nice owner for the grey. Only one puppy left for the day... then she could head home and play with the rest, before she gave them up too... in two days, her Arvinta would be a lot quieter....

The Frostfawn raised an eyebrow at her first customer's slightly odd appearance. His red hair was something new, clearly stating him a non-Vantha. His amber eye color didn't say much, however, considering that her's at the moment were a calm turquoise. She smiled kindly as he began speaking, softly, asking for a puppy. A red one, the color just like the man's hair. It probably affected his decision, considering.

"Sure you can have one! They're only 7 gold mizas, if that's good with you. " She handed the canine currently in her arms to the man, as it followed his criteria. Immediatly the creature woke up, shuffling around in the Kelvic's arms and attempting to nibble his shirt. Spirit laughed at this, grinning widely, and rubbed the top of the puppy's head. "Enjoy him! Just... feed him twice a day, soft meat, groom him... and don't let him get eaten by frosthawks! Any questions? I'm Spirit Frostfawn, just so you know... you are?"

[The Menagerie] Puppies! Puppies for sale!

Kaden tensed as the woman smiled, but she didn’t do anything and seemed utterly relaxed, so he took it for one of those odd facial tics humans seemed to acquire. He tried to give her one in return but it fell horridly short, just a flash of his teeth. He was surprised when she quickly agreed that he could have one of the puppies, even handing him the one in her lap. For a second he feared the ball of fur would be scared of him, but that thought hardly had time to form when the puppy innocently moved in his arms then decided his shirt was to be chewed on.

The tiger Kelvic was utterly smitten as he watched the red pup chew the material, and made no move to stop the teething. He came back to the land of the living with a blink but he nodded in a near whiplash like manner. “Yes seven gold.” He looked from the puppy to his bag, hesitating to move the animal. Finally Kaden shifted him only enough to fumble in his bag and pull out the required amount. At some point he was going to have to ask about the importance of the gold disks since they seemed worth much to buy a life.

“I promise I will, I will go hunting just for him.” He paused. “Those birds don’t come within miles of me.” Not when he spent most of his time as a tiger anyway. “Kaden Swift, I just came to Avanthal a few days ago.” He moved his hand enough that he managed to hand the gold to Spirit. “What is his name?” The puppy was mumbling, and again the tiger grew worried. He was buying a life, taking him away. Yet the woman had sold the other one so it was normal. He would be sure the puppy would never want or be lonely. He recalled other dogs and suddenly flinched. “I won’t put a collar on him,” he said it in such a small voice as his arms tightened around the puppy waking the animal so it went back to trying to chew his shirt and snuffle in his ear.

[The Menagerie] Puppies! Puppies for sale!

Spirit gave the man a slightly confused look, finding his word choice kind of... odd. Why would the frosthawks avoid him? But that was another question for another time. Instead, she commented on his hunting statement. "So you hunt? That's good! They're bred for hunting, so don't just hunt for him, hunt with him!" She smiled, watching him scramble around for coins and accepted them gratefully. It was funny how no one had even considered bartering with her. It was almost sad, really... she'd wanted to try it out.

She giggled as she asked the puppy's name. "I haven't named him, it's up to the owner for that... if he gets used to another name beforehand, and someone calls him something else... there could be a few confusions. Sometimes it was kinda hard to keep track of them, to be honest..." She rambled off, shrugging. She didn't want to go on about puppy raising to the guy. "If you want naming advice, I name literally all my animals after nouns... Silver, Wind, Fog, Apple... those are my four adult friends. I'm keeping two more of the puppies, maybe a third, for training myself and more breeding..." The Frostfawn shrugged, content to let the man- Kaden- make his own decision. Names meant a lot to some people, her included, as they almost... identified the person. Maybe not by meaning, but you had to find a name that 'fit'.

She frowned at the collar statement, finding the man's actions... odd. Seemingly he had some bad experiences with collars. Or thought it was... bad, in a way. Again, it was his choice. Still... Spirit liked this man, and thought he'd be a good owner. He wasn't rushed, or excitable like the others she'd seen. He was taking this seriously, and honestly caring for the puppy. She liked that. A lot. "A collar is your choice. I don't have a collar on Wind, as I've had him since I was seven... he doesn't need any discipline, he's literally family. I do have simple leather ones on Fog and Apple, as I don't know them so well, and it's safer that way. If they start running after something their not supposed to, or going somewhere dangerous, you can stop them easily..." Again she paused, realising she was once again rambling into puppy raising. The Frostfawn grinned, and shrugged, muttering "Sorry... anyways, I think you two'll like each other... you seem like a good guy. Take care of the little one, ok?"

Kaden looked to Spirit then the puppy in silent disbelief. He was tiny; Kaden’s paw was bigger than him. “He will come with.” He nodded, but it was to himself as he decided the dog could learn just from tagging along. Big as he was Kaden was not fast; he ambled, not ran. The puppy would be able to keep up and learn; all while staying safe from the praying white birds. That the human giggled at his questioning of the name confused him, he hadn’t thought it was funny.

“Oh,” he said after she finished. Looking to his new pet Kaden wondered what to name it. Far as the tiger knew, the slavers had named him and wrongly so. He was no fighter. “I will name him Ticker then.” He had been listening to the puppy chew his shirt, the little snips and clicks of the its teeth were nearly to quiet for him to hear as a human but it was still just loud enough to reassure him the creature was happy with its own device. Ticker also meant heart if he recalled correctly. “That is many dogs.” He would have asked her why she wanted so many. He briefly tried to count but numbers were not his strong point. Few things were.

He did see her frown, his amber eyes calmly watching her nearly unblinking as any cat would do. It was a habit, nothing of a threat on his part. He was use to watching people; he had nothing better to do growing up. As she explained what a collar could be for and that her dog did not have one for being family, he glanced to the pup. This would be his family then. “I do not need a collar to catch them.” He said it simply and calmly, just a matter of fact way. He could catch the puppy if it ran; he could catch most adult dogs if they ran. However if would be the word, and one that was unlikely to apply. He could just stare at them and have them stop in their tracks.

He watched her do that odd tick humans had, flashing her teeth. Giving a soft nod Kaden replied in kind, once more as an odd grimace as if he were in pain. “I will, he will be healthy and happy.” Hoisting the puppy higher in his arms Kaden shifted the flap of his bag then headed back to where he had marked as his own; literally. He had the start of a family. Utterly pleased, Kaden’s thoughts trailed out to finding a job again. He was not alone now, and Ticker couldn’t be left alone.

Snowdrop was walking through the snow when her eyes fell on the sign in the Menagerie. She rushed over into the hut and looked around. There was one puppy that caught her eyes. It was mixed and appeared to be a boy. She kneeled down looked at the puppy. 2 chimes went by before she rose up with the puppy.

"Um excuse me, but how much is this one," Snowdrop asked as she held the puppy up.

[The Menagerie] Puppies! Puppies for sale!

Postby Spirit Frostfawn on December 1st, 2013, 3:51 pm

Spirit stood back when a Vantha girl came up and began playing with one of the puppies, eventually choosing one she preferred. The Frostfawn watched with curiosity, wanting to see what happened, but overall keeping an eye on the puppies. They wriggled and squirmed, attempting to nibble the girl's boots, clothes, and fingers... simply doing what puppies always did. After a chime or two, the Vantha stood, this time with a puppy in her arms.

It was one of the two odd mixes, it's coat a funny combination of grey and red. The groom herself was keeping one of the puppies, for personal and breeding reasons, though this one was for sale. Her lips curled into a small smile at the girl, maybe one or two years younger than her. "Him? He's seven gold mizas, like the rest." She dipped her head once as she said this, nodding at the tiny dog... who was currently squirming in an attempt to get more cuddles. She didn't have to check to know the gender of this one, considering it was the only of his color out today... or tomorrow, really.

"You thinking of buying him?" she asked, still with the calm smile. It was more to press the conversation on than anything, but she didn't want to get into the 'puppy care' rant if it wasn't needed... though, considering she'd been asked for a price... this was probably a sale.

Snowdrop scrunched up her face in thought. 7 gold mizas for a puppy. It wasn't that bad of a deal. She nodded her head in agreement to the question. The puppy was so cute and playful. She pulled out 7 GM and handed them to the woman. "Could you tell me what exactly is needed with caring for a dog of this breed. This is my first time actually having a dog," she blushed a little. The dog licked her cheek and she smiled.

When asked to explain puppy care, Spirit grinned widely. "No problem! Lets see..." she frowned for a moment, trying to remember what, exactly, was on her list. "Well, feed him twice a day with soft meat, since their jaws aren't really strong enough to handle some of the stiffer stuff we eat. You should really groom him maybe once every ten days or so, to keep him clean... don't worry about the cold, they're built for that, but keep him company, okay?"

She wasn't about to tell the girl not to make the puppy sleep outside... as it wasn't really her's to say. Still, she really hated when people did that... it was horrible to to dog itself. Though they could stand it, sure, she felt like they would get lonely. How would you feel if your parents forced you to sleep outside just... because? "My name is Spirit Frostfawn, by the way. Might I know yours?" She twitched a smile at the introduction, not bothering to hold out her hand, as she knew the Vantha's were full.

Snowdrop looked at the woman with eagerness. She was going to raise this puppy. It was going to be big and strong. She smiled as the young woman told Snowdrop her name. "My name is Snowdrop," she replied with a slight bow of the head.

She then looked down at the puppy. It was sleeping. "I'm going to name him Bruce," she murmured. "Um how fast do they grow, if you don't mind me asking?"

[The Menagerie] Puppies! Puppies for sale!

Postby Spirit Frostfawn on December 9th, 2013, 2:29 am

Spirit smiled at the name proposal. Bruce was a basic, simple name... kind of funny, really. But she wasn't about to judge. Of the two puppies she was keeping, she'd already picked out a name for one... Icicle. Though he was nothing like an icicle at all (red fur, and soft) she liked the name, and felt like it fit.

Snowdrop's question about the growing speed had brought a frown to her features. She'd never really considered it, and the only puppy she'd 'raised' was Wind... but she barely remembered that. "They're done their biggest growing section..." she mused, mostly guessing. During the early weeks, they'd grown like crazy, paws and head getting bigger before the rest of their body. It had been positively adorable. They were still in a similar situation now, though she was sure the puppies would fill out and become as big as their parents.

"I have no idea, really. They're still due to grow a lot, but the maximum they'll grow is about... this big." The last two words were coupled with some hand motions, showing the size of Apple and Fog. Not huge dogs like Wind, who was surprisingly large, but still decent sized. Good for hunting and running (though she couldn't really tell).
