The Diamond of Kalea is located on Kalea's extreme west coast and called as such because its completely made of a crystalline substance called Skyglass. Home of the Alvina of the Stars, cultural mecca of knowledge seekers, and rife with Ethaefal, this remote city shimmers with its own unique light.

OOCI hope you don't mind the date :)

Jenni had found herself a seat and a table in a corner. She was in the Sunrise Nook, just after Dawn Rest had ended, and was preparing herself for a delicious breakfast and book... though the book wasn't 'delicious'. It was more educational. Instead of eating in the Twilight Tower like she normally would, the morpher had decided to treat herself to something (cheap) from here. Her book, a basic one on Lhavitan history from the Twilight library, sat safely on one side of the table.

One of the waiters came up to her with a smile, and asked for her order. "A Small Beginnings breakfast.. a waffle please!" She'd visited enough times to know majority of the menu by heart, and exactly what she wanted. "And Orange Juice as well" She added as a side note, and the waiter moved away to deliver her order. Hopefully the food would come soon enough... her stomach was growling in anticipation. The Twilight's mouth upturned into a small smile, until she moved her book and sat in front of it, opening up the cover. She'd found it last night hiding in a corner, but hadn't actually gotten to starting it yet.

She skimmed through the introductions, and instead found herself the beginning of the actual information section. It detailed the beginnings of Lhavit, of Aysel and Talora. Jenni had heard of that story many times, and knew it quite well... but maybe this book held something else. It looked quite normal, but... you never knew. Never judge a book by it's cover, as the saying went... though this was more literal than metaphorical.

Before the Valterrian, Kalea and Lhavit had a much different landscape. There were not the massive mountains we live on today, nor the actual city of Lhavit. However, when the Valterrian did occur, the ground began to change, and mountains began to form faster than they naturally would. The people of that area were forced from their homes and in a state of terror, as the land itself was shifting beneath their feet....

Jenni sighed and leaned back resisting the urge to glare at the waiter who now carried her food. She'd been in the middle of a sentence there... and even though she knew what would happen next, it was irritating to be interrupted. As her breakfast was placed before her, she fished out six topaz Kina to pay the waiter, before turning to the steaming waffle. All irritation gone at the delicious sight, the Lhavitan grinned under her hair and dug in. Her book was back in it's place on the table, a napkin slipped in between the pages as a makeshift book mark. She'd pick up the story later... when she wasn't eating.

Pausing to take a sip of her juice, the morpher's eyes slid to the book nearby. Maybe she'd just take a pause and read it. Wiping her sticky fingers on another napkin, she pushed the half eaten waffle away and pulled up the story, interest returning.

Syna and Leth noticed the people's troubles and took pity on them. As a gift and help, they sent two Ethaefal known as Aysel and Talora down to aid the humans. They led the people up to what is now known as Zintia peak, to settle in a safer area. There, they discovered a magnificent, though sad sight....

[The Sunrise Nook] Excuse Me, That's MY Book (T'ala)

Postby T'ala on September 22nd, 2013, 1:44 pm

T'ala walked into the building a little later than she usually did. On the average day, she would arrive there for an early breakfast only a few chimes after it opened after Dawn Rest. If she had nothing better to do, she would even sit or stand outside the shop and wait for it to open for a chime or two.

Today, however, things had been different. A con the night before had gone on far too long and, as well as leaving empty handed, T'ala had gone to bed far later than usual. Waking grumpy and annoyed, she'd very nearly stayed at home for the Rest and eaten inside. The simple fact that her own cooking skills were non-existent - coupled with a sudden but strong craving for pancakes - had had her pulling herself out of the bed and into a cold, refreshing shower.

After washing she'd taken a few brief chimes to get herself ready for the day out. She'd dyed her hair a mousy brown a week ago and touched it up on the tenth, so other than tying it back in a neat braid she left it alone. Adding gloves to cover the scales on her hands, and raising her collar to conceal those on her neck, she could quite easily pass as an ordinary human woman.

The walk to the Sunrise Nook had been a quick, uneventful one and she entered only a few chimes after leaving her home. With a nod towards the familiar face of Ajah Landry from across the room, T'ala took a moment to survey the room. There were a number of empty tables and several others that were occupied but with seats spare. Her usual table - one in a corner on the far side of the room, where she could see everyone but remain, for the most part, unseen - was occupied by a few unfamiliar velvet-and-silk-wearing gentlemen. She could almost smell their money.

Decided on her next plan - relieving said men of said money - T'ala looked around the room again, seeking out a suitable table. One near enough to the door that she could leave quickly, in a place where she could keep an eye on the men without being easily noticed. The table that fit best was fully occupied, but next to it a woman sat alone reading a book. After a moment's hesitation, T'ala walked over.

"Hello." She said politely, gesturing to the spare chair. "May I join you?"

Jenni glanced up from her book with surprise, and more than a little confusion. She'd paid the waiter, gotten her food and drink, couldn't they just leave her alone? She was about to tell them she didn't want anything else, before glancing up and realizing the woman was not wearing the usual red and white of the Sunrise Nook. So... it was normal person. Frowning, she resisted the urge to glare at the woman. Some people could be so rude... didn't they see she was reading?

Still, she had to attempt to be polite, so she set the book down on the table and glanced up, to answer the question... then realized she didn't know what it was. She hadn't exactly been paying attention to the woman talking to her. Continuing a blank stare, she stated "I'm sorry... what did you say? I was reading." She tried to keep the end blunt, make it obvious she was a little irritated with the interruption. Everyone should know not to interrupt a reading person for no good reason! Still she kept her face blank for a few moments, before getting an urge to keep reading.

She gave in to that urge, knowing that hopefully continuing her book would tell the woman she wasn't interested. At least, this time, she was keeping her ears open.

A goddess lay on the peak, having fallen from her place in the sky. Her name, as we know her know, was Zintila, the goddess of the stars. However, during the chaos of the Valterrian, she fallen whilst saving her mother's -Semele- life, leaving her prone on Zintia peak. Because of the fall, she became an Alvina, or demigoddess....

OOCSorry for the slightly short post... there wasn't much for me to say :)

Rude

T'ala thought to herself, one dyed-brown eyebrow rising as the other woman - a girl really, she thought, barely more than a child and someone should really have taught her to respect her elders - turned back to her book, seemingly intent on ignoring her.

This actually put T'ala in quite a difficult position. On the one hand, having an argument over seating arrangements was going to attract the men's attention - already, she could see one of them glancing over, perhaps wondering why she had yet to sit down - while their casual curiosity might make her job easier, attracting actual attention would just make them more likely to remember her. It would be simplest and easiest to simply go and find somewhere else to sit, not to cause a fuss with the irritated reader. She glanced at the other woman again, still reading.

Very rude

On the other hand...She disliked rudeness, especially when against herself. With a sigh, decision made up, T'ala took the seat opposite the other woman, crossing her legs at the ankle and resting her chin gently on her hands, elbows against the table. A moment or two passed before a waitress seemed to materialize next to them.

"Hmm," she considered for a chime, humming softly under her breath before tilting her head back up at the waitress with a sunny smile, "a crepe, I think, please. And a glass of water, thank you." As the waitress left, she rolled her eyes back to the other. "That must be a very interesting book," she commented, offhand. "What's it about?"

Jenni nearly yelled at the woman when she sat opposite her, but managed to have the self control not to. Instead, she rested her forehead in her hand, staring blankly at her book, not really reading the text set before her. This was just great. A nice, happy morning alone with her book ruined by this person. Well... she couldn't exactly force them out of her sight. It wasn't like this was before the Day of Discord or anything.

Instead, she sighed, leaning back in the chair when the waitress came and left. Her fingers tapped absentmindedly on the hard wooden table, making up a beat with no real pattern. She hoped the woman would eat quickly and go, but that probably wasn't a possibility. The Twilight now had to focus on the question given to her... at least it was about something academic, even something as simple as the content of a book.

"It's about history. Lhavitan history. I know all that stuff already, but I like reading it anyways." She waved a hand dismissively, not trying too hard to be polite. People could be quite annoying sometimes. The morpher switched the places of her waffle and book, once again setting the thing aside with a napkin slipped between the pages. She took up a fork and stabbed her food, twisting around until she pried a nice chunk off. She swirled it around in the syrup provided, before popping the morsel in her mouth. At least the waffle was still as tasty as ever. Taking a sip of orange juice, she re-focused her attention on her companion.

"So..." she began, attempting to start polite conversation. Sadly, she had no idea what to talk about... or what to ask. "Do you come here often?" It was one made off the top of her head, and really meant to dilute the awkward silence that had been aroused. Jenni took another bite of waffle, chewing it whilst waiting for an answer.
