Physical Description
Name: Sereptinidy Race: Akvatari Age: 21 (born in Winter, 488 AV) Gender: Female Theme Song
Sereptinidy’s strawberry blond hair frames delicate shoulders and flows down her entire back. Her form appears slender, yet features cat-like muscles and more strength than obvious at first sight. Her skin is of a soft creamy hue, her face heart-shaped and her eyes of a watery pale blue. The only piece of clothing she wears is a red strap of fabric binding her breasts in. The most prominent Akvatari features, her butterfly wings, are translucent and shimmering silver, brilliant red and crimson in the sun. Like most butterfly wings, they are framed and veined with black lines. Her torso fades into a pale red furred tail similar to a seal’s which ends in a double fin. Apart from the obvious differences, the Akvatari can also hold her breath much longer than a human, exceeding six hours underwater. Her strong wings are able to carry her for long periods of time and large distances without growing tired. Because of her origin in the southern sea she endures great heat as well as great cold.
Character Concept
Like all Akvatari, Sereptinidy is a very melancholic and thoughtful person. Thought processes and philosophic questions can occupy her for hours, and she cannot help but ponder over past happenings and what would have been if someone had acted differently. The past and history intrigues her as much as it saddens her that times of amazing magicians and leaders are over. Less often, but still frequently she ponders over her own life and what direction it has taken. Nevertheless she will continue to do what she likes because she simply cannot resist. She is an artist through and through. Sucking up new places she sees, stories she hears and adventures she experiences and pouring her soul onto the paper comes naturally to her. It’s like breathing – she will get cranky and quiet if she stops doing it for whatever reason. She possesses few social abilities, yet her curiosity often drives her to interact with people. Moreover, she is very generous when it comes to material and financial matters. That is merely because she doesn’t see much value in them. Because she knows that money is more important to others, though, she gladly shares what she has with others. Everything that really matters to her can either not be bought or sold or is cheap enough for her to afford at any time anyway.
Character History
The young Akvatari’s history is short and sweet – her own grand tale begins when she leaves her home city of Abura. Sereptinidy grew up as the only child of her mother, Ondisbia. Her father is unknown to her. She already showed interest in books when she barely was able to read and write, but soon got enchanted by the variety of epic tales she could find between the library shelves. In her early years she’d read everything she came across, but then she slowly narrowed herself down to mythology, religion, history, magic and the few fictional works she could find. During the process she came across the God Ionu and started respecting him – what is the most illustrious tale but an illusion to the reader, after all? Soon she got more and more fascinated by the magical disciplines, especially alchemy, and started practicing on a small scale. As her skill and experience grew she intensified her studies, doing experiments here and there. At that time her mother knew what she was doing and was worried, but didn’t interfere.
However, Sereptinidy missed the point of no return – serious symptoms of overgiving consumed her. Ondisbia, having watched her daughter for quite some time, now made sure that she didn’t touch magic for a few months and focused on recovering. During that time Sereptinidy also started to write stories again, a pastime she had abandoned since the beginning of her obsession with magic. Pure luck has kept her from retaining permanent health issues, though. After recovering fully, Sereptinidy purchased her own apartment in Abura and stayed there for a while, improving her writing and thinking about the future.
The decision she made was a heavy one: She’d make writing her profession and focus on that art form, but continue practicing alchemy on a small scale and under careful supervision of the physical and mental side effects. She also wants to find out more about the most famous wizards of the pre-Valterrian world, striving to learn from their mistakes and epiphanies.
