It was just within his grasp, until of course it all went horribly wrong.
In fact he was more startled that Annalisa had managed to snap out of this, what had happened? What had gone wrong? He should have been carving her open like a jackolantern, and yet now he was faced to deliberate his failure. He was at a loss for words, but apparently This black rose was not amused. In fact she made a point to tell him just how unamused she was, trying to dog him to go outside.
And as she gave him her commentary the thought hadnt dawned on her how close she was to being butchered despite how powerful she was or perhaps perceived herself to be. Her arrogance blinded her from the truth, and no matter what angled she played with this uninitiated wizard almost ended her career despite being a shiney apprentice with a fancy ring.
She kept pushing but the more commentary she spilled out the more he was realizing that she was scared of this place. Something spooked her and he reveled in delight. So prideful and arrogant she spewed her words when she should have hit him then and there with everything she had. But she was afraid, of what he did not know. It was like something unseen was keeping her in check, like a rabbid dog snarling within inches of his face restrained by a chain. He thought for sure she would have killed him, however this was not the case. And he would see to it that she would regret it later.
But then then it left him to question, had something deliberately foiled him ?
No Maduro with a bewildered look would answer her smug remarks with sentences like.
I know your mad but what's wrong?
Did something happen?
Why are you yelling at me?
Why are you acting like this ?
I... I don't understand what's going on
You left my sight for but a moment.
Are you ok?
He pretended with that bewildered look on his face like he had no idea what she was talking about. Maybe that's why he was still alive? He would thwart accusations and allegations with sympathetic please and poise as if he knew not what had happened.
Maduro would let her run off, he let the words that stung him linger let that amused grin fester. As he wasn't going to chase her when he was where he wanted to be. If he left the temple he would leave his sanctuary, and he would not be able to pass back in.
