Rheyine Stormchaser Appearance Race: Svefra Gender: Female Age: 20 Birthday: 88th of Autumn, 493 Birthplace: On the waters of the Suvan Sea in her mothers casinor. Appearance: Rheyine is 5'3" with a medium frame and athletic musculature – a natural side effect of life on boats and swimming almost more than walking. Her hair is a dirty blonde with sun bleached highlights throughout and an unruly wave. It sits just below her shoulder blades. Her skin is a warm golden color and her eyes a periwinkle blue, the same blue that colors the sky at dusk when the sun has set and the trees are no more than dark silhouettes beyond the shore. Her lips are a natural peach tone. On her back, spanning the width of her shoulders is a stylized sea eagle tattoo with wings outspread. On her inner right wrist is the Oceanus Gnosis, there from her birth, a stylised outspreading wave extending from her palm up to her inner elbow in colors of ocean green, periwinkle blue and seafoam white. Character Concept Rheyine is a spirited young woman with a carefree smile and a rose-tinted view of the world around her. She has spent her whole life within the safety of her Pod, rarely leaving their company. Her favorite past time is fishing, whether it be by pole, net, harpoon or hand. Hours can pass by for the girl as she mends a net, her mind a thousand miles away. A master of her own boat, Rheyine can sail with the best of them, although her skills in boat making are somewhat lacking. Rheyine is a terrible, terrible gambler and whilst she adores singing cannot hold a tune to save her life. Character History Rheyine was born to the Stormchaser pardisa, the youngest daughter of her mother with three older brothers and one sister. Her father was a skilled navigator and born sailor, however this trait wasn't one shared by his daughter. Instead, she took to the passion of her mother. Fishing. As a child, the young woman learned quickly that fishing equals food. And food was the best currency between her siblings and friends. The more fish she could catch, the more she had to trade for glass beads and exotic curiosities. A family girl, Rheyine rarely strayed far from her Pod, playing and frolicking with the coastal and oceanic creatures that became her playmates as her older siblings worked on the boats or traveled for trade, temporarily acquiring her eldest sister’s boat to fish deeper waters when the older woman was between pregnancies. When the Djed storm hit, the young svefra sheltered with the rest of her Pod on the shores of Syliras, closest landfall at the time. It was a tragic storm, many lives of family and friends lost, other Pods wiped away completely. Rheyine clung even closer to home after that, rarely leaving the safety of their group. It was around this time that her sister joined with the father of her children and moved into his bigger, fancier ship, leaving her little worn casinor to Rheyine. Her excitement was palatable, a boat all of her own! Daydreams of shores far and wide with fish she could only imagine filled her mind. Small oceanic islands all to herself, such adventures to explore! However the aftermath of the storm clung to her thoughts, even as its effects still altered the world around her. It was her mother that convinced her to go. What good was a life lived in the shallows when there were whole oceans to be explored? The world her proverbial oyster, Rheyine bid her Pod a lengthy and emotional farewell and set out for the exotic and exciting city of Riverfall, referring to the star chart her father had given her as a farewell gift. She had been told about its statuesque blue men and beautiful waterfalls, water falling from the rocks high above? What svefra wouldn't want to see that? Unfortunately the weather was not on her side. Her little casinor was battered by a violent sea storm in the dark of the night, a common aftermath of the devastating Djed storm, thrown wildly off course. Fighting just to keep the old hand-me-down boat a float, Rheyine prayed to Laviku that she would survive as the rain and seawater soaked her through. By the morning, the storm had died off, but she was far off course and without the stars she had no idea where she was. The boat had come out severely worse for wear, the mast broken at the top and the sails ripped, ropes pulled from their rigging and boards torn from the railings. At least it was still able to float. However, her food stores were ruined and she was adrift at sea. Barrels of salted dried fish, casks of kelp-cakes and pickled squid were either drenched through, broken open or tossed into the sea. Tightly woven baskets of carefully traded brown rice had soaked up the water as it leaked in during the storm, swelling and bursting their confines in a tide of disappointment. Wet, angry and exhausted, the svefra hung out her linens on the side of the boat in the sun and slept the rest of the day away, her little boat bobbing and rocking with the waves. As the stars twinkled into existence, Rheyine stirred. She took the time to study the rudimentary astral landmarks her father had written on her star chart and compared them to the stars in the sky, and with a bit of shock the girl realized she had been carried up towards Syliras, miles away from Riverfall. Floundering in the middle of the Suvan Sea, Rheyine is now taking the time to collect fish and kelp to replenish her stocks whilst she figures out what she's going to do. Its not a close swim to shore, a mission for even the best swimmer. However, a woman cannot live on fish and seawater alone...
