3rd of Fall, 513AV

Kitchi finally found herself in the library. Her life had been completely occupied with hunting in preparation for the coming winter but the hunting party after the Snowshoe Leopard had calmed a lot of peoples nerves. The more stressed Wind Reach was the higher the demand for hunters became, they all wanted to make sure food was not a contributing stressor after all and were entitled to do so, who wanted to stress about food supplies when so much else was going on? In a way she loved the busy panic of Fall for the workload, it meant she was always contributing and helping Wind Reach as best she could. This year was different though, this year she had to find time to herself because it was no longer just herself she had to tend to. The free time was much appreciated as her new pet's health seemed to flicker uncertainly from day to day. Kitchi had to deal with the rabbits broken leg, it had already been left to late and the potential damage it might have already caused worried her greatly. She had considered asking one of the medics for assistance but the idea was dangerous. If they told anyone she'd lose Obsidian. That's what she had decided to call him, Obsidian. She was not entirely sure why, or where the name had come from. Part of her was not even sure it existed and argued it was just a silly amalgamation of words she had made up. Feeding the small brown rabbit had been less of a problem then its broken leg, some berries and wild plants were still around for her to feed him and occasionally she found herself preferring salads at meals and sneaking some of the greenery away but she knew its become harder in the cold winter, when the snow started falling. Kitchi hoped that the supply of food she had found was enough to keep its strength up,to help it heal enough on him own. Obsidian had been less active then she had expected, although the pain from the broken limb would greatly contribute to this.

The books she had selected out would have seemed a strange combination but she took care to find a slightly hidden corner, away from anyone else. Thankfully her being alone was not particularly new to people, she would often spend her free time in the library absorbing as many books as possible and ignoring the world passing around her. Having settled herself onto a table she lay the books in front of her, giving another casting glance over them. Two in particular drew her attention and she pulled them closer to her. One advertised itself as a biology based book, with drawings of different forest animal anatomy. An earlier glance through had showed carefully drawn and labelled diagrams of different animals. Another book discussed broken bones and the use of splints, although it was focused on humanoids more then animals Kitchi preyed that it could be transferred with the help of the anatomy book. What other option did she have? After a moment of hesitations he turned towards the anatomy book, quickly scanning the contents for rabbits. They were a common forest dwelling animal and it did not take her long to find the correct section.

“105” She whispered to herself before starting to flick through the pages, her blue eyes fixed on the small numbers scribbled into the bottom corner. The page she wanted contained a large diagram of a rabbit as well as some smaller sections detailing certain limbs. To her delight a fairly large section had been devoted to their legs. She studied the sketch, engraving to memory the carefully drawn lines that represented bones. It did not seem to dissimilar to that of an Inarta. Just slightly differently shaped, remaining partially bent in rabbits while straight in Inartan's. Did that mean it could easily be transferred? She'd have to be careful not to completely cut off the movement but the break seemed far enough down not to be to much of a problem. Kitchi snorted at the idea of it not being a problem. She certainly was not qualified, nor had she ever attempted to splint a broken leg. It could go disastrously wrong. She just had to trust in herself enough for it not to go badly. She glanced over the book once more, studying the general structure of rabbits and the tangle of writing decorating every free space. It seemed strange to her that so much information could be twisted around the mere skeleton of a rabbit, surely they was not that many names?

Eventually she tore herself away from the sketch and turned her attention towards the other book. It was a smaller book with a simple title printed against a dark green cover. It didn't take her long to get absorbed it the book, her blue eyes taking in as much information about broken legs and splints as possible and all the time attempting to convert it to rabbit form. Occasionally she would flick her attention back to the anatomy book, comparing the bones or searching for a word she did not quite understand.
