If you want to write a book, you should do so in the main IC forums. Several people have done so in the past, myself included. But no, I'm not counting the journals forums because pretty much anything goes and it's not subject to any real moderator control. If it's coherent enough to be posted in your city with a little third person introduction, then why not do it and earn writing XPs in the process?

Whilst I understand the logic of what you are saying, as far as I can see this removes all reason for having a specific forum for character journals.

I think what Tarot was inferring was something like making an IC piece of literature, which has been done before, which you would do through threads to earn XP while you did it, character journals are more for snippets, letters, and journally things (very descriptive I know).

November 10th. Seems like word count stress and competitiveness have been getting to people a little bit, so what can Tarot do? That’s simple, let’s add some shared goals on top of your personal ones. Nothing like everyone being on the same team, after all. So, here’s stats for the previous two editions of NaNo on the site.

Here’s the deal. Upon reaching some word count milestone, the community gets to unlock something, Kickstarter-style. I am going to add a few rewards of my own, but others feel free to join in. I’m setting the bar pretty high for these, based on last year’s results and our community growth over the past year - you’ll have to earn them.


At 3,500,000 words: Tarot will post a new monster in December.
At 4,000,000 words: Tarot will post a new discipline of magic in December.
At 5,000,000 words (Tay’s word goal): Tarot will sing a song of the community’s choosing in December and possibly play musical accompaniment.
