[Bronze Wood] Look Up High [Bolivar]

Postby Nira'lia on November 21st, 2013, 2:24 am

The Konti nodded in response to his question. She did know about glyphing. Nira’lia knew its purpose, though she didn’t actually know how to do it. Even if she had been hoping that it would be one of the skills she’d acquire from working with the mage guild, she had never gotten to that point.

To add to that, Bolivar was a reimancer as well… and he had said it so boldly! Nira’lia fought to hide the surprise in her face. It was not often that a mage so confidently announced who he was. Since she had met a number of them already, she knew that they always tried to hide their identity, careful of the stigma that people so automatically correlated with magic.

“Yes, I agree, these are nice runes,” she said, nodding. In truthfulness, she couldn’t really tell. She didn’t know the meaning of each rune, so she didn’t know its accuracy. She did think the patterns were unique and interesting to look at, though.

The Konti continued to nod patiently, not really knowing how to respond. He was being very candid, and she welcomed it. A smile spread across her lips as she looked at the arm that he was showing to her.

And then it came—he wanted to know about her this time around. She was taken off-guard. She had been listening to him and didn’t think he would be asking for something in return. If she were to choose, she would want him to continue etching out glyphs!

“Oh, uh…” she looked at him blankly. “Well, uhm, my name’s Nira’lia…”

‘…he already knows that.’

Mentally, she hit herself.

The Konti gave an awkward laugh. “I grew up in Zeltiva, but a few seasons back I accompanied the knights to Sahova. It… well, one thing led to another, and now here I am, a squire of the knights. I was recruited by them in the process.”

She had glossed over many details, but she was unsure of what she had to say. What would he find interesting? What was appropriate to mention?

Something glimmered in her eyes as she added, “I was also serving as an aide to a mage friend of mine before the knights decided to recruit me.”

Nira’lia said ‘recruit’ as if it had been a choice for her. But she decided it was much better to hear than ‘the knights dragged me back here’.

“He is building a mage guild, which is why I am familiar with some of these stuff. Their group resides in Alvadas. If you are ever in the area, you should speak to them, and… uhm, well, see if you could help each other.”

She was recruiting. To her knowledge, that was the first time she had said something such as this about the guild. Even if she was far away, she might as well help them.

[Bronze Wood] Look Up High [Bolivar]

Raising a wary eyebrow Bolivar could not help but feel accomplished having his work complimented. Of course it help little weight but it did well to lift the squire's spirits. So an unintentional err on Nira's party seemed a bit more humorous then it should have to Bolivar.

Feeling slight heaves coming off his shoulder Bolivar looked straight into Nira'lia's eyes for a tic, a smile almost appearing on his face. Finding himself Bolivar played down the friendly spark forming with a shrug before letting Nira continue. Still it was becoming easier and easier to talk freely the more time sped past the two.

His eyes going up in thought, Bolivar tried to recall what he had heard of Zeltiva. Not really well travelled all he recalled was ships and an engaging city of sorts. Bolivar's attention going back to Nira'lia could feel his mouth drop and eyebrow raise at the sudden finality of the storyteller's story. Picking up later the konti's expression decided against pursuing the issue. Bolivar had seen that type of mood plenty of times in his stony city of Sultros. A despondent tone that was obviously hiding something that did not want to be said.

Perhaps Nira would be willing to share more if we got to know each other a bit more? One of these days for sure.

"They have such a position? A mage's assistant of all things."

Bolivar's tone rhetorical could scarce contain the curiosity and excitement in his eyes at the news. That was something the people from before failed to mention. By the sounds of it Zeltiva sounded more mystical in it's make rather then then military or a prosperous land. Which seemed to pull Bolivar more then the others. Zeltiva the city of mages?

"Alvadas?"

Nodding in understanding Bolivar smirked finally knowing one of the cities mentioned. He had made his way to Alvadas alone the way to Syliras. A mages guild? The thought of it sounded terribly ambitious.

"I appreciate the offer. But again I'd rather help you right now."

An easy mood in the air Bolivar looked back to the glyphs he had marked. In the squire's eyes they all looked horribly incomplete but Nira wouldn't know that. She had just complimented him on it!

"Come take a seat. You've sated my curiosity for now Nira'lia. If you have the time I can teach you the secrets of glyphing. It takes time to understand. You learn everything that glyphing has to offer from the start. It is up to you to apply that knowledge and test the limits of each and every glyph you make."

Rubbing his chin meticulously at Nira'lia Bolivar dug through his bags for a finished glyph before continuing on the lesson.

"Ready for your next lesson Nira? May I address you as such?"

[Bronze Wood] Look Up High [Bolivar]

Postby Nira'lia on January 4th, 2014, 10:05 am

Nira’lia had certainly not expected to get a lesson on glyphing when she entered the woods, and it seemed surreal to her. Nevertheless, she wanted to accept the offer with utmost excitement. Nodding, she practically hopped closer to Bolivar and ‘took a seat’. More specifically, she sat on her heels and clapped her hands together, eagerly waiting.

“No problem,” she said with a slight shrug, addressing his question as to whether he could call her by a shorter name. It didn’t bother her in any way. The Konti watched him dig through his bag, curious as to what he would bring out.

Before he could show her whatever it was he was reaching for though, the pale woman raised an excited hand. She had a question, one that had probably been answered before… but it was always better to be sure, especially for the dangerous topic of magic.

“What are the chances of overgiving when it comes to glyphing?” she asked without missing a breath. She had memories of mages who had reached beyond their abilities, and the result had not been pretty.
