As per her usual habit, Rosela was in the shop's back room on her day off. Today in particular though, she was doing more than keeping up with her inventory. With the change of the season came her autumn line, and a significant amount of work in getting it up and going.
She needed to finalize her master designs, actually start making them, and switch out the clothing on the floor. She didn't anticipate difficulties with any of it, as the season change was becoming old hat anymore. She still felt rushed and continually pressed for time, but the anxiety of 'will they or won't they like it' had vanished. Her sales spoke for themselves.
Kicking off her sandals, she put her feet up on a box next to her desk, which currently contained thick winter furs. She'd need them before too long, but they could be safely left alone until winter was closer at hand. Twirling one lock of hair between her fingers, Rosela inspected her autumn designs. These were the womens', with purples, reds, and browns abundant. The top design was a floppy skirt cinched in by a black band above the breasts. A stylishly short jacket completed the look and kept it relatively warm. Inspiration striking, Rosela picked up a pencil and altered the flowing lines of the bottom of the dress, making it slightly longer.
Putting it aside, she moved onto the next design. This was of a knee-high skirt, more straight-lined than she usually went. The top was very boxy, meant to de-emphasize a woman who'd found herself with an abundance of curves. The bottom of the skirt, below a thin black belt, fell in straight folded layers, the layer just above the knees slightly higher. Putting her pencil down lightly upon the paper, Rosela added billowing at the shoulders, with rounded black cuffs. A knotted scarf of the same material was drawn in around the neck and Rosela moved it to the 'completed' pile with the other design.
The next two designs were added without comment, and the next, an experimental pantsuit was given rolled up cuffs at the bottoms, instead of a straight hem as she originally planned. The design after, a short skirt with black leggings, received a hard black line for a belt and a discreetly folded collar. Several more designs were approved before she stopped again to add loose, doodly indications of vine embroidery around the right side of a dress's bust.
The remainder of the designs were one by one approved, and Rosela gathered all of the papers up into a single pile once more. The easy part was over - now for the actual work.
