45th of Fall, 513 AV
Today was a rare clear day on the Sebakem Ocean, a place which had certainly experienced a large amount of heavy rainfall this current season. In the bowels of the Saga Shooter Annalisa Marin was taking especial advantage of the calm seas. Her seasickness was something that had taken a little time to get over, indeed the first few days aboard the ship had been absolutely miserable. Part of her had desired nothing more than to toss herself over the edge of the ship, just to escape the damn rocking of the vessel. A few of the crew were probably hoping she would, having a wizard aboard had certainly seemed to make a few of them uneasy.
Anna had managed to work out something of a deal with the captain, as long as she kept any magic other than Aeromancy to the bottom deck then she wouldn't be tossed overboard. That had been the condition for her to be taken aboard the ship, so naturally she had agreed. Thankfully being known as a 'foul witch' was enough that everyone else purposely avoided her, so she had plenty of time to herself.
Time that she was using well, or at least trying to. Glyphing was made rather difficult unfortunately given the lack of supplies, as well as the uneven rocking of the ship. However Anna made due with what she had, the voyage had yet to completely ruin her supplies after all. She intended to work with a few more complex sigils today, as well as looking into seeing how Voiding could be used in conjunction with it.
It was actually something of a blessing that her portals were so small at this stage, they would make her experiments much more controlled and less likely to get out of hand. First things first though, she needed the sigil drawn.
The wizard sat at the small side table, a candle hanging from a beam nearby and her bedroll spread out on the floor near the back of her 'room' if this space could be called that. She was isolated down here, alone with no one to check up on her so it was a blessing and curse. For the solitude she was more than willing to put up with the cramped sleeping conditions, it provided her a place to work without fear off being intruded upon.
A piece of dry parchment was on the desk before her, sitting and waiting to be used. She had an image in her head of what she wanted, a relatively simple thing in the grander scheme of things but a little bit more tricky than a scroll. She wanted to create a sigil that could contain a tiny portal to the Void, and then have it open once the trigger was activated and close once a switch was utilized. A relatively simple thing in theory, but a bit more complex in practice. The trigger could be simple but what was really getting her was the need for a circuit to compete the cycle.
The wizard bit at her thumb, musing over the quandary. Scrolls were simple by this point but sigils like this one which possessed multiple functions were reaching out a little bit. It was all about balancing the complexity needed without compromising the integrity of the whole construct. No easy task, as any glypher would say when musing over a new sigil construction.
"Perhaps... perhaps if I built a series of paths that eventually connect back to the Focus that holds the Void. The switches would be activated in a sequence which would in turn return back to the point of origin to eliminate the portal." She mused aloud to herself.
Of course, that all depended upon activating the right switches at the right time. It was also possible that the entire parchment might just disintegrate once the circuit was complete, rather than doing anything to the portal. Still it was certainly worth a try, its not like she was going anywhere anytime soon.
The wizard dipped her brush in ink and started on the inverted triangle that made up her focus, a small thing as she needed to scale for her portal as well as conserve space on the parchment. The focus was an easy glyph by this point, a natural glyph that had long ago been ingrained into her muscle memory.
Due to the small size of the glyph it didn't take her very long to make it, soon enough she was on to starting on the Barrier around the Focus. This one was a little more tricky, the small size bade her to use her smaller brush and to take her time with the drawing. She didn't want to mess up in the construction here. Three glyphs within the Barrier were a little different than the others, Anna referred to these as Connector Runes which in turn connected the path to both the Barrier and the trio of Switch Glyphs she was starting on inside of the Barrier.
One of these Switches would activate the magic within the focus after the Trigger activation travelled down the first Path. This effect would then set off the Switch on the opposite side of the Barrier, which would then send the effect down another Path and cause a Switch on the receiving end to activate, the effects of that would then travel up another Path back the original Barrier and activate the last switch with which would close the portal to The Other Side. That was the theory anyway.
The wizard decided it would be best to start on the circuit first, so with a slight crack of her neck to the side Anna prepared for the work ahead.
