Seemingly impossible comebacks are common tales in NaNo, but only if you refuse to give up. And in Quint’s case, these specific word targets only apply if you started on the 1st. If you started on the 11th, for instance, this would be your 9th day out of 20 rather than your 19th out of 30, and so your target today would be 22,500 words instead of 31,666.

Ok, I've got tables figured out, I think. Thanks to Tarot's tip, I've figured out what I need to do to succeed at NaNo even with a very late start. That's something I really like about Mizahar-- the people here are very, very supportive of each other.

Here's an example of the boxcode in use in a new post. I really like it. It changes the whole tone of my posts. Somehow it just makes them more serious. The whole tone is more somber. Compare this to any other in-character Quint post and see if you don't agree.

Mizahar, like any other fantasy world, has a certain tone to it. I think I have now finally captured it, thanks to Charlotte's box-code.

All right, still following Tarot's example. It's not getting easier, but it's not getting harder.
At least the month is winding down. RpL goal: top 30 is now within striking distance. As I was ranked 173rd up until day 10, I'm quite pleased to even be finishing in the top 40. In any event, I hope many people reach the 50,000 word mark. I've tried to be encouraging but Tarot is just way better at it.

Today I dropped the ball, NaNo-wise. I just kicked back and watched Dr. Who reruns and otherwise did nothing related to my Mizahar character. You can tell I was procrastinating as I decided today was a good day to say hello to like 20 new players, or otherwise spend time in Chat.

Note the 23rd and 24th. That's a net gain of 0. Zero. Kavala wrote 8,300 words yesterday, and I wrote ... zero.

I'm annoyed at myself, because now I have to cram. And that means posts won't be as good as they can be, it might just be some fluff solo threads where Quint spends 1,000 words thinking about walking 1 foot. (Taylani just graded such a thread, so yes they do exist. She was nice enough to give me +3 Observation as Quint kept looking around while he had that one leg in the air between steps, but really it was just fluff churned out for the sake of increasing verbiage.

But maybe that's the point of NaNo. I certainly have some modicum of ability of sticking words together and maybe a dash of talent, but ... no published books, no sold stories. Because I don't have the verbiage. I dilly-dally when I could and should be writing. I have never in my life written 2,000 or more words a day-- I'm proud of writing 250 a day!-- so this had been a real eye-opener on that score.

If I end up writing 50,000 words, then I'll just look back at today and remind myself I need to be more consistent. If I don't end up writing 50,000 by the.... actually, I'm going to attempt to self-edit my mind here and now. It may not work. But anyway, I'm going to attempt to stay positive. I will do this... I have Wednesday through Sunday off. It just means I'll be finishing on the 29th or so instead of earlier. From here on in, there's no wiggle room.

It was interesting fluff because learned some more of Quint's backstory. I do want to know how Quint know so much about his father's family tree! I dont know as much about my real life father's side fo the family that Quint knows and I was a huge Daddy's girl

Important thing I learned this week but forgot to write down:

Templates only work if you do NOT hit quick reply.

That is to say, the 'template' option only appears when you click on 'post reply,' and not 'quick reply.'

Oh, the 'POST REPLY' thingie at the top? I never actually use that. I simply press 'Preview' at the bottom text box thingie, and the template option comes up there ^-^
