Locaiton 1 : Azure Reflections Fine Tailoring

Amolina hadn’t bought any new clothes for a long time. It was time to upgrade the wardrobe with a few new things.

Azure Reflections Fine Tailoring wasn’t the kind of shop she normally frequented, but now she entered the fashionable shop. She wasn’t rich or a member of the city’s jet set, but she was a competent actress so she stepped in looking blasé and like she used to shop lots there, every day.

The house was tall and narrow, varnished a brilliant white and adorned with colorful flowerboxes and decoratively cut hedges. Displayed in the front windows were the tailor's most current designs, most of them dark - like the dark violet dress Amolina had been wearing at most occasions during the last seasons - and very Ravokian in style, with sharp hemmed shoulders and gilded patterns.

Inside the shop, a dark blue and radiant golden theme dominated the environment, with fine rugs lain across the lacquered wooden floor and crystal lighting fixtures hung from the ceiling. Luxurious rolls of intricate weaves and embroidered patterns were exhibited, available for purchase by bulk or cut and sewn into clothing and attire.

Amolina was however not going to buy one of the really expensive dresses with gilded patterns and so on. It was much more practical for her to go for clothes with an elegant but classical cut and a more anonymous style. It wasn’t just because this was cheaper, it was also because the actress found it good with clothes that worked in many different kinds of situations, and even on the stage if needed.

Twenty gold mizas. Rhysol. Even those less flashy dresses were expensive here…but lately she had been moving in the noble district much more often than she had used to do, and she had visited the Nitrozian Estate more than once. It was best to have a spare dress for occasions when she might need something better, and also a simple and worklike white linen dress for the nurse job. She would by the latter somewhere else.

A peacock was pacing around on the floor, looking beautiful. Amolina’s volunteer work at KRI, that had gone on for several seasons now, had thought her to recognize a kelvic though. The beautiful bird was a kelvic, she could see it in the sentient way the bird moved, in its gaze when it met hers.

I hope it won’t shift right in front of me that annoying way kelvics do …

A red haired woman, the shop owner and designer Alira Wickham, had seen the customer and walked over to Amolina, eyeing her old dark violet dress of cheap silk critically. A few seasons of feeding kelvics and cleaning cages as well as the recent escape events, had taken it’s toll on the garment. It could be called shabby chic…but shabby chic wasn’t Alira Wickham’s idea of the right way to dress.

“Yeees?” she said to her not so rich looking customer. “What can I help you with? Are you looking for something special?”

Amolina heard the slight streak of something condescending in the woman’s tone and used her acting skill to give the shopkeeper a deep-laid haughty glance, making it seem like she was looking down her nose. “I’m Mr Valerius Nitrozian’s … assistant” she said. “Oh, and I really need to find something that works better on the stage than this dress did, can’t understand where they found it, it’s really wrong for the role, even if … well let’s not dwell on that. I’d like to find a dress that is elegant but modest, not too little and not too much. “ She sighed. “Theater costume specialists ! But I’ll buy something better. Something around 20 gold mizas will do.”

Now when she had said she was Valerius Nitrozian’s assistant the shop keeper was looking much more friendly. “Of course, miss…” she said, the end of the sentence left open.

“Amolina Moletta”. Amolina felt satisfied with the effect she had created. There. She wasn’t going to be looked down on by the snobbish designer.

“This way please” Alira said politely. But then she added “Only 20 gold miza’s, you said …”

“It’s only for the stage. Something cheap will do fine for that. I’ll need much better things when I am at the Nitrozian Estate… but I’ll have to postpone my personal shopping until later.“

Alira nodded and showed Amolina a few dresses that were considered to be cheap and simple. Amolina took the opportunity to impersonate that mask-faced fortune teller again and just showed an obliging facial expression and a slight pleasant smile. Behind the façade she was wondering how those beautiful dresses could be called simple, and it was even harder to understand how they could be called cheap - at that prize. But she wasn’t going to reveal her feelings to the shop owner.

“The blue one could work” she said holding up a dress of dark azure blue silk. The cut was classical and cleancut, and had no embellishments whatsoever, but the dress was elegant nevertheless. It also reminded her about something… yes, she knew what. Glancing at the bird on the floor she said: “ The color is beautiful. It actually reminds me a bit about the intense blue of a peacock …”

The peacock came hopping closer when she said that. It made a bird sound. And then it shifted. In front of her she saw the human form of the peacock kelvic, a man with a somewhat daft facial expression on his handsome face. He had beautiful, beautiful eyes that seemed to have a greenish color, and his dark hair had an almost iridescent sheen. He was also completely naked, which he didn’t seem to care about, kelvic style.

Yet another dark haired man with green eyes, the kind that the fortune teller had warned Amolina for. How many of them were there? Let’s see … Nolan Parnell could hardly count as the one that would complicate Amonlina’s life to no end, because they had made peace and now they weren’t enemies any more, just colleagues … he had promised to not bother with her again. So if there was any truth in the card reading that girl had done, the green-eyed trouble most be somebody else. Perhaps the peacock kelvic in Azure Reflections Fine Tailoring was the one that was augured to be around and ready to mess with her ? Hmmm… yes…perhaps.

As Amolina didn’t want to seem like she wasn't used to stylish kelvic slaves she eyed him cooly and gave the shop owner a compliment for her chich assessoir. Alira smiled. “He’s a gift from my brother. My brother is in the Ebonstryfe you see. So it’s my brother in the Ebonstryfe that bought this slave as a gift for me. “Shift back Azure! “ She snapped her fingers and the peacock shifted back to bird form.

“Oh, in the Ebonstryfe?” Amolina said, somewhat interested to hear that. “Is he an officer?”

The shop owner looked a stiff. “Not yet. He’s young and very promising though. He will soon be promoted.” With this she dropped the topic and started to encourage Amolina to buy the dark azure blue dress. As the atmosphere had somehow become a wee bit frosty now Amolina was happy to close the deal, pay and leave.

The shop owners “Welcome back miss Moletta” rang out somewhat falsely.

Location 2 : Odds and Ends

Odds and Ends! This lovely shop of everything you could ever need and everything else too.

Everything looked just like it used to look. Amolina passed by the guard at the door and greeted the shop keeper cheerily. “ Only in to buy a few things, no time to chat today”.

It was fairly simple to find a white linen dress that would do for the nurse role. She picked a pair of neat black shoes as well. And she finally fell for the longtime temptation to buy the bone bracelets she had been looking at for two seasons now. Good thing nobody else had bought them. It was likely because people found the material cheap for the prize, it was after all only bone. But Amolina appreciated the beautiful filigree work. To her it was a masterpiece of crafting. Art even.

But why did she pick the used ravonsalaman outfit ? Why? She couldn’t explain it clearly, but it had to do with her thoughts the other day, about gliding around on the canals in her own ravonsala. She might do that, sooner or later, and it could be good to have the clothes, she reasoned. It wasn’t too logical. She knew that. The outfit just felt like a must have, just like the bracelets of bone, just the like the odd Ascontine plays with their unusual content had felt like a must have.

She bought it all. Rhysol! She really hoped she would earn enough in the times to come, after spending 35 GM in total she felt like she had paid a whole fortune today.

Miza's spent on this shopping spree- 20 GM Dark Azure silk dress
- 5 GM White Linen 2 piece dress, black shoes, one used ravonsalaman outfit in smaller size.
- 10 GM Bracelets of carved bone
