75th of Fall, 513 AV
It was a most... Terrible occasion. The day slipped by over head, blocked in part by the weave of leaf and vine overhead as night quickly approached. She knew what night brought, things by which would make life, or rather unlife, quite miserable. There was nothing for it however, so what point was there in worrying? She knew what she could do...
Evalin walked one step at a time, a measured pace as she carefully made her way through the brush and undergrowth. With her staff she pushed aside wayward limbs that would block her path, a note of disdain written across her features at the state of this world.
"Why is it then that I must do such things as this... Of what use is it to venture into the deepest jungle, or rather to venture ANYWHERE but especially here?" The question was directed at no one in particular, but hung in the air to fill the silence. Evalin pushed back a stray hair that dared to obstruct her vision, glaring at it as if it were the soul cause of all her misery. The hand that moved was small, a child's hand in fact for she had broken her solemn promise and once more opted for the body of a young girl. This one, at least, could at least stand higher than the waist of the average man. Human once more, for to Evalin human was indeed what was most fitting to harbor her soul, for this round she opted for shorter hair with a slight curl, a dark brown with the slightest tent of auburn. She could change it if she wished, but Evalin felt little need in this.
An orb floated slowly up and down over her right shoulder, an ever present companion in the journey of immortality. Tsenrika, the creature who signed the contract with the Witch to stay by her side through the darkest journey ever to be recorded. One who could share insighte, knowledge, and possibly friendship... if such things existed for the immortal now.
"The path to one goal is rarely simple or easy to follow, but twists and winds like the river." His voice was cold, without emotion but every word was stated as a fact that could not be denied. Evalin shook her head, "This path by which my goals are to be accomplished is far more winding than should be necessary. Curse this path, for if it were a path like what I walk now in this retched jungle I would carve a quicker way as I always have, with my power and magic."
As she said this she called the power within her to stir, that essence known as djed to knot and swell, ebb and flow to fill the palm of her hand in the form of res. With a sudden flick of her wrist she sent it flying forward, spreading out in a thin arch as she hissed, "Hakin!". Flames burst forth, burning through leaf and branch they came to contact with and etching a streak of black where once there were obstacles before her. The fire still burned, catching upon the plants beside it until, with another careless waves Eavlin pulled the flames back to the remaining res she held in her hand. Closing her fingers the fire was extinguished, leaving a scar in the once lush green before her.
"The fires of impatience burn more than what is intended..." Tsenrika observed solemnly.
