Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.
Just as its name suggests, the apothecary’s shop is never rooted to one place. One of the most elusive buildings in Alvadas, it’s virtually impossible to find on purpose. However, people usually happen to stumble upon it when they need it most, but aren’t searching for it specifically. Some say that the reason the shop moves so often is to spite its owner. Kirwen Shenter is disliked by Ionu and consequently, by most people in Alvadas. Cursed by the deity, he has virtually no sense of smell and taste, but still manages to distinguish between his medicines. Alvadas’s residents will only visit his shop when they are in dire need of a herb and even then, they won’t deign to speak more than a few words to him.
The store is usually a mess, with bottles and cans strewn about every which way. A small, cluttered counter stands in the center of the shop, with Kirwen sitting behind it with a scowl on his face. Behind the counter is a door leading to the back room where the more lethal potions are kept. Only customers who can show Kirwen good money upfront are allowed inside. A set of stairs, hidden away in a corner, leads to the second floor where Kirwen has his workshop and bedroom.
The Arrhizal Apothecary specializes in cures for mental illnesses and bouts of insanity. The store also holds a wide selection of poisons meant to induce hallucinations and even bring about insanity (for a very high price). There are potions which supposedly increase one’s sense of smell and those that take it away. (Needless to say, Kirwen has tried all of the sense-increasing potions on himself, but to no avail). There is also one shelf that holds selection of salves and liquids for mundane sicknesses. Kirwen usually makes up prices on the spot, so it’s no good looking for an organized, little price list. Asking him for something specific in a respectful manner is the best way to get what you want.
A warning: Kirwen has been known to hurl random potions at his customers in fits of anger.
NPC :
NPC: Kirwen Shenter ]Kirwen Shenter is tall and gangly, with an elongated head and deathly pale skin. Bearing the second cursed gnosis mark of Ionu, he garners no enjoyment from life. Thus, his face always carries a sour expression. Occasionally, he remembers how it felt to properly see and feel things. During those periods – which sometimes last days – he will do things like stick his face in freezing water and try to stuff himself with the most exotically-flavored fruits. But no amount of flavor can spice up his life and he is left feeling even more sour and cynical than before. Labeled as a traitor to Ionu, he is disliked by Alvadas’s and speaks to them only when filling an order.

Gnosis Ionu’s second cursed mark of Illusionism.
History: Kirwen exhibited a talent for medicine from an early age. He enjoyed pouring acid on mice and slipping various potions into his mother’s cooking. His fascination with herbalogy grew as he matured. When he was seventeen, Kirwen journeyed to Zeltiva to study at the renowned university. When he returned to Alvadas, he opened the Arrhizal Apothecary with all his newly-acquired knowledge and began to look upon the City of Illusion as a colossal joke. He cursed the moving streets, spit at the disappearing temple, and repeatedly questioned Ionu’s powers. Of course, that kind of behavior couldn’t be tolerated in Alvadas. All his studies had opened Kirwen’s mind to logical method, but closed it to magic and illusion. Ionu was angered by Kirwen’s blatant disrespect. Under the guise of a human customer, she visited Kirwen’s shop and cursed him with her first gnosis. However, that only caused Kirwen to show more contempt for Ionu. He proclaimed the deity’s powers weak and unessential, repeatedly calling Ionu’s illusions simply parlor tricks. On his thirty-fifth birthday, Ionu has had enough. Kirwen received the second cursed mark of Illusionism. Five years later, Kirwen is still deprived of the flavors and colors of life. He is bitter and envious, but he no longer mocks Ionu so openly.
