Solo Bad Cat, Bad Luck?(Job Thread)

Apparently black cats really are bad luck...for the cats, that is.

Known as the Celestial Seat, Nyka is a religious city in Northern Sylira. Ruled by four demigods and traversed by a large crevice, the monk-city is both mystical and dangerous. [Lore]

Bad Cat, Bad Luck?(Job Thread)

20th of Fall, 513AV

Another day, another job. Sekai woke up once again, ready to start creating more void portals, and ready to throw more garbage into some expanse of space within the Void. Well, as ready as one could be waking up early to do so. She really wanted to get her daily Voiding out of the way, so that she could practice her abilities within Animation. Or perhaps today she will practice Projection.

Sighing as she yawned, before literally rolling herself off the bed -and falling onto the ground in the process-, she stood up, and looked around her room. A simple, double room rented at the Safe Haven Hostel. Not much has changed with the room, no decorations, no extra colors, nothing. The only difference would be her clothes folded and placed on the other unused bed, and her multi-scabbard leaning against the bare wall in the corner. "Maybe I could add something to brighten up this place...", she whispered softly to herself.

Sighing once again, before shrugging off the idea, she walked over towards the pile of clothes, before putting them on, piece by piece. Finally tying the last lace of her dress, she quickly walked out of her room, at a brisk pace.

Bad Cat, Bad Luck?

Postby Sekai on November 20th, 2013, 3:18 am

What started as a fast paced walk, became a run, to the point where Sekai basically flew down the stairs, and burst out of the Hostel. She stopped her rush though, as the light from the sun was felt. As part of her daily routine and habit, she carefully observed and checked as many different Nykans as possible, switching to the next if she did not notice any directly hostile intentions.

Finally deciding that no one currently was attempting to assault or jump her, her gaze moved downwards, scanning the streets of Nyka for any sources of garbage. There! There was some wayward trash of a paper bag crumpled near the entrance of an alleyway. I guess I will work from there, head in the alleyway, and just go where the garbage takes me., she thought to herself, planning out the first half of her day. She walked towards her starting point, keeping her gaze to the floor, attempting to avoid eye contact with anyone in the surroundings.

Making it through, without being jumped upon, she knelt down beside the paper bag, that seemed to have been trampled on quite often without care. Holding out one hand, she slowly started forming the portal. About seventy ticks had past, before she lowered her hand, a completed portal waiting in front of her. Picking up the dirtied garbage bag, she lightly tossed it in, before severing the flow of Djed between herself and the portal, allowing it to collapse. She stood up, before walking into the alleyway.

You Nykans...would it hurt to throw all your garbage in one location?. Sekai's mind wandered off, as she walked down the alleyway, towards the waywardly garbage strewed this way and that. Not that she minded helping from the shadows, but if she was unable to practice wielding shortswords, at the very least she wanted to practice her pitiful magic. And that required time.

As she continued to walk several meters, stopping consistently to create a Void portal, and throwing the garbage in, her min wandered once again, making plans to improve herself. First, she would need to find a way to purchase a steel blade, or to have one, without actually having one. No...that doesn't make any sense..., she thought, scratching that plan out, as she continued to walk, stop, and Void.

Several bells later into the day

"He....he....fuuuuuuuuuu~", Sekai panted, before letting out a long and drawn out sigh, as she plopped herself down in a rather unladylike fashion, leaning against the walls of a residence. Walking everywhere within the city, and creating Void portals consistently does get rather tiring. Although she does still have the temptation to continue creating Void portals around this bell. "Huh...temptations...just small desires best left unattended...", she muttered softly to herself, as she continued to rest along the wall temporarily. That was her excuse of not casting more magic, as the real reason would be her body felt to tired to cast more. The constant walking must be catching up.

Bad Cat, Bad Luck?

Heading now hanging down, as Sekai nodded off for a little nap, with the premise of Just five chimes.. However, at the sound of light movement, her head quickly snapped up. Damn it! How long was I asleep for?, she panicked, glancing around. She didn't know this just yet, but she had managed to nap through triple the mount of time she was originally aiming for. That is to say, she fell asleep for fifteen chimes.

Glancing around furtively, line of sight flitting this way and that, she found the source of movement. Just a cat, of undetermined species. Hm, I never tried learning about cats before now, haven't I?, she bemused to herself, as she stood up. "Yosh, I better get back to work, unless I don't want to finish before the sky darkens far too much.", were her self-motivating words, as she stood up, and brushed herself off.

Walking around, she made good time finding more garbage to Void. Well, as good of a time as one can manage, while attempting to avoid every Nykan's line of sight. Kneeling down for the seven thousand time of the day -truthfully only the one hundred and twenty seventh time-, Sekai slowly generated another small Void portal, before throwing the garbage in. But, it seemed the gods wanted to make her day take a much unneeded  and odd twist.

The same cat that woke her up was one curious cat, so what does it do? Seeing the unknown, dark Void portal, it jumps in. "...?!?!", Sekai was surprised, to the point where she involuntarily severed the flow of her Djed between the portal and herself. Thereby now, the cat is trapped within the dark coldness of the Void.

Bad Cat, Bad Luck?

Postby Sekai on November 29th, 2013, 1:59 am

Several more bells had past, but Sekai had not moved from her spot, as she reopened the portal multiple times, attempting to find the cat. But what she didn't realize was, every time she closed and reopened the portal, it was towards a new location within the Void.

Finally sighing in resignation, she stood up, and started to slowly walk back, without even dusting herself off, as her mind was filled with dark and saddening thoughts. "In the end...I still end up being the catalyst for the misfortunes of others...", she muttered in a depressing tone, before continuing onwards back to her room within the SafeHaven Hostel.

In her room, she untied the ribbon knife from her hair, and tossed it into the corner of the room, nearby where she had settled the multi-scabbard, before flopping face first onto her bed. Closing her eyes, she oh so slowly fell into a shallow sleep, with the scene of the cat being Voided, along with the death of her parents replaying through her head as nightmares.

Experience Points:

  • 2 Observation
  • 1 Running
  • 2 Voiding

Lores:

  • Overgiving: Minor Sweet Whispers
  • Voiding: Accidently Catching Something in the Void
  • Voiding: Uses to a Garbage Collector
  • Voiding: The Advantages of Careful Spellcasting

Additional Notes :
Voiding as garbage control, how very cool. As a Grader, I really appreciate how you played exactly to your skill levels when casting spells. It can be hard to do, but it appears you put the appropriate research. As a small side note, your Ledger's most recent date is "Spring 513". I believe you meant "Spring 514". Otherwise, good thread. A little more detail in your spellcasting would have snagged you a point or two extra, for future reference.

If you have any questions or concerns relevant to your grade, don't be afraid to send me a private message so that we can work it all out! Please remember to mark your Grading Request as Graded.

A shout-out to Ollic Rimesage, who was kind enough to make this template for me.
