Completed A Necessary Purchase[Aran, Kaiphur]

To get his family off of his back, Aran buys a slave. Unfortunately, he doesn't have as good of an eye for women as he does horses.

A Necessary Purchase[Aran, Kaiphur]

Postby Aran Windblown on November 29th, 2013, 3:42 pm

Aran was quiet for a long time after Kaiphur spoke. He didn't move, just gazed out over the grasslands behind his slave; she had sat down, but Aran didn't look at her.

He was conflicted; on the one hand, he didn't want to be seen as an overbearing brute. On the other, all Drykas men were expected to produce children, particularly in the wake of the sickness that had nearly decimated their population. Aran had gone long enough without siring children of his own, and his family's pressuring had increased greatly over the past season. He needed to have children. Not only to stop his family's-- particularly his mother's-- nagging, but he also wanted children of his own. To date, however, he had not found a woman he would be willing to marry.

By law, Kaiphur was Aran's, now. He could do almost anything he wished to her, including taking her by force. The thought almost turned his stomach, but Aran was a determined man. If that was what it would take, then that was what he would do. Not now, but should it prove necessary, he would.

Finally, Aran glanced down at Kaiphur. "To claim what you claim is unheard of in Drykas," he said. "It would be wise to keep it to yourself; others will see you as selfish at the least. A saboteur at worst. I purchased you to bear my children, or at the least, my child. The Drykas need children; it is why there has been an increase in slaves, lately." He fell silent for another few moments, lost in thought, before continuing. "I do not believe that you are truly male; in truth, I am more inclined to believe you are simply trying to avoid what I have purchased you for. Perhaps you wish to try to elicit my sympathy, to convince me to let you go free. If so, know now that it will not work. You are mine until I choose to either free you or sell you."
"Pavi"
"Common"
"Tukant"

School and family have been very busy lately; as such, while I am trying to keep up with Mizahar, my muse is feeling very finicky. I will reply ASAP.

A Necessary Purchase[Aran, Kaiphur]

Postby Kaiphur on November 30th, 2013, 9:01 pm

Well, this was to be expected.

He had been treated like this his whole life. Denial was nothing new to Kaiphur. It seemed that Aran was not one to be bargained or reasoned with, and what he bought was his to own and use as he saw fit. “Humans treated like objects. Interesting.” His mind deflated of ideas and he just shook his head and gazed downwards listlessly.

“The Drykas need their children, yes. It appears desperation has driven them towards inhumane methods.” He looked into the eyes of his owner and frowned. “You can think all you want that my condition is false. If you want to present me as a woman, fine. I’ve had that for seventeen years, I can take a few more. But I’ll be living as me. I know what is going on in my head and who I am. I won’t be keeping it to myself Aran- I’ve done that for too long. Would you like it if someone asked you to completely betray everything that you were, everything that you believe? I don’t think you would, but I suppose you’ve never had to worry about that.” Kaiphur walked towards the towering horse and stroked his neck.

“I suggest we go back home. I’ll be civil with you, but don’t expect any pleasantries. I am a slave after all.” He remembered his small amount of belongings and opened his mouth again. “Oh, and I would much rather pitch up my tent next to yours. I’m not exactly comfortable sleeping under the same roof as a man who is keen to use me for one main purpose. You may refuse, but it is my wishes. I’ll still be yours no matter where I sleep. But I need my rest.” He liked solitude, a bit of time to reflect on his current situation. Some quiet space to clear his head or add to his diary. Somewhere that he didn’t need to worry about people staring or whispering or mocking.

His new life remained chained to his old one. It was always someone else calling the shots, saying what he had to do and where he belonged. How he should act, dress, speak. Who he should be.

He would be civil, yes. But a different person?

No.

Congratulations On Your Hard Work!

Aran Windblown:
XP:+3 socialization, +1 negotiation, +2 observation, +1 riding +1 rhetoric
Lores: Kaiphur: Somehow not Caitlin, Kaiphur: Thinks she is a boy.

Player Kaiphur:
XP:+2 rhetoric., +3 socialization +1 riding
Lores: Purchased for breeding, Imprisoned by something her entire life,

Notes: Just remember that not all female slaves are “breeding girls”, especially to a random slaver who just picks up people to sell. The taking of captives by the Drykas is a new thing, and not one that has been going on often. So it is doubtful that slavers would be picking up girls directly for Drykas to breed with. That is what the Watch does, and again they aren’t sold as slaves but as captives –potential Drykas.
Aran: Careful, you god modded a few places in here and as well as power posed Kaiphur a bit. An example of this is in your second post. Aran has no skill in any form of combat, so the quick and easy way he subdued a slaver was over playing Aran’s abilities which was why you didn’t get awarded +1 brawling or unarmed. In Mizahar everything comes down to what skills you have. In the same post you posed Kaiphur as being on the ground and bleeding. This is a bit of an etiquette breech because Kaiphur didn’t have a chance to write what their response was. Kaiphur might be all super master Unarmed Combat person and took the punch with ease and not on the ground. It wasn’t a huge issue in this thread but it’s something to watch for.

Oh and another note. Drykas don’t generally use paper and pencil. It’s cumbersome and unwieldy for a people who move every day of their lives. They use oral history to tell their history etc.

As always PM me if you have issues.
