[IronWorks] Stubborn man, you should be resting (Ora, Rhuryc

oocEfffffffffffff. Thank you, I fixed it. x.x That was a bit of a fail post now that I've read it again, I fixed it up a bit. Hopefully this one will be better. :)

The young woman remained in the corner, her eyes closed, even with Rhu's reassuring words that he would remain decent, the young woman continued to wait in the corner. It was better that way, even in his under garments, it was only polite to offer him the respect of privacy. She listened as she heard him removed his belt, setting it down, then his breeches. The man spoke, and Ora answered quickly. "Even so," Her words were slightly muffled. "I will wait." Ora continued to listen to the noises, a small noise as he moved the quilt she had folded, a noise as he set himself on his bed, and then he spoke reassurance.

The Konti turned slowly, indeed, he was covered. The color in her cheeks quickly bled away and a small smile crossed her face. The young woman moved across the room from her corner to the table where she had set the dressings as well as the ointment. Carefully she picked up the items and moved over to where Rhuryc was laying, setting herself down next to his thigh. "I am sorry if it hurts," She said quietly as she put the dressings and ointment down behind his leg. Her thin pale fingers carefully found the end of the wrappings, undoing the piece of linen, carefully moving it around his leg. Once it had unwound a layer or two, blood became visible on the cloth.

Ora frowned slightly, Rhuryc should have rested, he shouldn't have gone to the smithy to work. The Konti sighed, her eyes glancing up to Rhuryc's face. "You really should have just rested today, Rhu." Her fingers finally removed all the cloth, discarding it on the floor. The stitching was intact, the wound had stopped bleeding, but there was a mess around the wound, half dried blood and bits of string that stuck to him.

Ora cleaned around the wound with a small piece of dressing, wiping the area carefully, lightly. "This will hurt." Ora said with a frown. "I am sorry." Her hands reached out for the jar, taking the lid off and scooping out some of the pungent paste on her middle and index fingers. Lightly, the woman spread the paste over the cut. Ora frowned while she worked, the wound looked painful, aggravated. No doubt Rhuryc was hurting. Ora picked up the roll of clean dressings, one hand took the end and placed it lightly over the wound. She began to wrap his leg, only to realize she was wrapping it far too loosely. "I am sorry, it seems I am not as skilled as my mother was." Ora smiled slightly, glancing at Rhuryc before continuing to work. She began wrapping again, this time she did it right, well, at least close enough to right for it to work.

Ora finished wrapping leg, she carefully securing the end before she sat up and smiled at Rhuryc. "There, that will help it heal. Try to change it daily if you can." Ora stood up, picking up the remaining clean dressings as well as the small jar. She set the items back on the table, continuing to speak. "You should lie down and rest for the rest of the day, the stitching is still intact, but I imagine much more of your daily activities will rip them."

[IronWorks] Stubborn man, you should be resting (Ora, Rhuryc

Rhuryc made no complaints. Neither in voice or body. When Ora removed the bandages he watched, silent, his eyes focused on the woman's hands and motions. Her voice was lost, the warnings and protests discarded in favor of his study. Every ounce of his attention bent over the cleaning, the bindings, how Ora went about her craft with a gentle kindness. After all, when she was gone he would have to do this on her own. So he learned. And hurt. The occasional jolt of pain presented itself at every opportunity; when she cleaned the gash, when the paste spread; a burning ran course up his thigh, but Rhuryc ignored that too. So much as he could. A grunt escaped his throat in a none-too-friendly manner. He assured Ora it was nothing with little more than a glance and an easy smile before he returned to his study, observing everything from how the blood was cleared to how she dipped the substance in the cut itself, filling the exposed tissue beneath from one edge to the other. The wrapping came once, twice, and once, the taunt, fresh whiteness of the bandages refreshing despite the protests from his body.

"Thank you," Rhuryc's baritone filled the room. He prodded the bandages like a child with a stick. "And I will." His gaze flicked to Ora as she stood and went about her worries; was she dismissing herself? Rhuryc would not blame her, the experience was no doubt taxing on her mind. A maiden in his small hobble of a home, how interesting. Rhuryc took note of how few people had ever even seen his apartments, let alone sat on his bed. Mayhaps he would be saddened if he bothered to think about it long enough.

"But I think you need rest more than I do." Rhuryc rumbled as he stood up and made his way from the bed, the quilt kept around his body while he retrieved his pants. He was sure to keep himself from as much exposure as possible, wrestling the soft leather up over his legs and fastening the waist beneath the cover of the blanket. The exercise was one of practiced caution. "I've killed men before. No matter who they are, you never get over it. I suppose that if you did it might ware on your soul." He grunted, a dull ache snaking up his thigh. "Really, Ora, how do you feel?"

[IronWorks] Stubborn man, you should be resting (Ora, Rhuryc

Ora bowed her head slightly. “You are welcome, Rhuryc, I would prefer you to keep your leg rather than have it fall off due to infection.” The Konti bent down and picked up the dirty, discarded dressings, wrapping them in a neat little bundle, which she set by the door. Violet eyes went between her small busy work tasks to Rhuryc, as the man spoke to her. “But I think you need rest more than I do.” A perplexed expression crossed her face, she watched him for a short moment as he stood.

As the man began to dress, the Konti averted her eyes away from the injured man. Even if he was covering all his private bits in some manner, the young woman showed respect. As Rhuryc continued to speak while he battled with his breeches, Ora stood silently, her eyes on the ground, her back facing Rhuryc. “I do not think I will be able to have a decent rest for a few more days,” Ora said calmly. After a few moments, the woman moved, her hands finding things to do, things that need straightening. “Really, Ora, how do you feel?” The Konti froze; the quilt that had been wrapped around Rhuryc was partly folded as her attention moved from the cloth to the man who spoke.

A handful of chimes passed before Ora moved or even so much as made a sound. A small sigh escaped the woman as she set the blanket down on Rhuryc’s bed. Violet eyes moved from Rhuryc to her own hands. “I am not sure,” Her body turned as she sat herself down on the bed. “I am filled with grief for the death of that man, yet I know nothing of him.” Her hands moved to rub her face for a moment before she continued. “I suppose a part of me is scared,” Her attention moved up to Rhuryc’s face, her hands rested in her lap. “Seeing that Akalak die, it has made me think, what if my Father,” Ora trailed off, her head shook slightly as she stood again. “You should at least sit if not lie down. “

[IronWorks] Stubborn man, you should be resting (Ora, Rhuryc

Rhuryc was not good at this. Emotional stuff. He almost blanched at the sudden change of atmosphere, from Ora's kind, caring hand to the trauma that was now ever-so evident. His eyes followed her. The nervous antics, the resignation. When she sat on the bed he felt his heart sink. He knew those motions. That fear. For what seemed like the longest time he watched her in silence. Were those only chimes? It seemed that both of them sighed before anything. Ora spoke and Rhuryc listened. If he did nothing else in earnest at least he could listen. Inhibitions be damned. For just a moment he felt himself give away to the stupid, little things that held him back.

He did not sit.

Instead he reached forward. A massive, calloused hand grasped the Konti's in a surprisingly gentle embrace. His fingers were clumsy, but they were warm. He locked his palm against Ora's and looked down at her, softened eyes of green set on forgiveness. The hard, enduring man was gone. All that remained was an honest, welcoming soul, one without walls or boundaries. It felt nice. Easy. Why was he so frightened of emotion again?

"I'll be fine, stupid." Rhuryc smiled into this words, "I can't tell you anything for certain, Ora, I wish I could. Whether your father is alive or not, but you can not abandon hope like that. That's too much to bear." He squeezed her palm, softly, and raised his arm, fingers running just under her cheek in as much comfort as he could offer. It was sour, he was sure, but he had to do something. "Grieve. Cry, if you have to, but don't give up. I won't let you go that far alone."

[IronWorks] Stubborn man, you should be resting (Ora, Rhuryc

Postby Ora Sa'vina on April 9th, 2011, 11:42 pm

OOCI’m so excited to finish this. :D

Ora was surprised by the sudden rough hand taking her own small, relatively soft, hand in a reassuring, albeit clumsy, grasp. The Konti was startled by the sudden action of the reserved man. What caused such a change? Ora’s sharp eyes moved to look up at Rhuryc, his face had almost changed, he seemed soft, like a different man was standing before her, holding her hand.

“I’ll be fine, stupid” This sentence took her back, she had never been called stupid before, back on the isle, everyone had been encouraging and supportive, never had she heard such a term labeled on her. His expression seemed to contradict his words, a smile was spread across his face as he spoke. “I can’t tell you anything for certain, Ora, I wish I could. Whether your father is alive or not, but you can not abandon hope like that. That’s too much to bear.” Ora looked away, shamed, it was true, she could not give us so easily, her future was uncertain and undoubtedly trying. Rhuryc squeezed her hand,. His free hand lightly touched under her cheek. Ora felt her cheeks blush as Rhuryc touched her face. “Grieve. Cry, if you have to, but don’t give up. I won’t let you go that far alone.”

The young woman nodded slightly. “I do not know where I should start, I do not have his name or know anything remarkable about him.” The konti shook her head slightly. “I do not need to cry or grieve, my father may still be alive, he may be looking for me, for my mother. I am being… Stupid. That man that died in the forest, he was not my father.” A soft, strange smile crossed her face, her free hand reached up and touched the side of Rhuryc’s face lightly. “Thank you, Rhuryc; but I do not expect you to go anywhere with me, you have already helped me more than you ever had to. I have little to nothing to offer you in return aside from my thanks and unending appreciation”

Ah, strength. Rhuryc nodded. For a the longest time he said nothing, did nothing. The two of them stood in silence. Still, quiet air allowed those fleeting moments of care to remain unhindered, the noise of the ever-active city dulled if only just for a while, that sweet, rare while of vulnerability. The man shifted. He released his hold on the woman's hand and stepped forward, his welcoming, powerful arms instead wrapping themselves about the Konti's torso. Warm. So warm. Despite the wound, the exhaustion evident in his motions, Rhuryc somehow remained that stalwart protector, even now. Though he was sure his services were more for the whole than himself. For once. A simple hug could mean so much and here, now, it spoke friendship. Of companionship. If not in body or mind than one of the soul. For a time.

Rhuryc allowed himself a moment to linger. With a gentle, careful push he separated himself from the embrace and smiled down at Ora, his hands coming away from her shoulders in an almost sorrowful withdraw. To feel was nice. To share that experience was spectacular.

"Well then." He started, that thick, tough baritone rife with emotion. "I'll not hold you any longer, Ora, but you know where you can find me. I hope you find him." Now, he felt, they were done.

[IronWorks] Stubborn man, you should be resting (Ora, Rhuryc

Postby Ora Sa'vina on April 17th, 2011, 6:32 pm

The long silence the two shared was one Ora found to be pleasant, but with a lingering feeling of sadness. The Konti was unsure of so many things, but the one thing she was sure of in that moment was Rhuryc, his suddenly caring demeanor was one that was welcomed by the Konti. Ora did not look up at Rhuryc as the silence glazed over them, instead her eyes moved between his injured leg and their hands.

Rhuryc's hand was warm and calloused, the young woman couldn't help but wonder if this is what her father's hand would feel like. Purple eyes shift upwards as Rhuryc let go or Ora's hand and his strong, warm arms wrapped around her.

Ora's face was pressed against the mans chest, it was warm and comforting. She felt safe with Rhuryc, she already had seen what he had endured because of her foolish actions, he could have just as easily run off and avoided everything that happened near the falls.

Ora sighed slightly as Rhuryc lightly pushed Ora from him, a slow and almost unwanted action. Ora knew as Rhuryc let go of her shoulders, that their time together was done, at least for now.
"Well then, I'll not hold you any longer, Ora, but you know where you can find me. I hope you find him." Ora nodded to his words, turning from him to gather the few items that were hers. "Yes, you do need to rest, so please, lie down." Ora reached out and touched the side of Rhuryc's face lightly, her fingers grazed along his jaw as she smiled up at him. "Thank you, Rhuryc," Ora retracted her hand and turned towards the door. "Rest, I will see you again, friend." With her parting words, Ora opened the door and slipped into the evening.
