Contrast of Diamond and Amethyst[Nhadia, Aran]

Postby Aran Windblown on December 1st, 2013, 6:37 pm

Aran rubbed his shoulder, still chuckling; she was surprisingly strong. Though, really, with her clothes indicating her status as part of the Diamond Clan, he really shouldn't have been surprised. "I am a courier," he replied in response to her question about his job. "I take messages all over the Cyphrus region."

He pulled out another arrow, going through the steps to the stance he'd had before; this time, he lowered the bow just a little before he let the arrow fly. This time it was right outside the outer-most ring. "And what of you?" he asked, pulling another arrow from his quiver. "What do you do for a living?"

School and family have been very busy lately; as such, while I am trying to keep up with Mizahar, my muse is feeling very finicky. I will reply ASAP.

Contrast of Diamond and Amethyst[Nhadia, Aran]

She nodded as he answered her question. So he was a courier, that was a pretty decent job. Not super exciting, but not super boring either. "I bet you get to see a lot of neat things if you are traveling a lot. Do you usually travel alone or with someone?" She was curious if he traversed the region by himself, as it did hold a lot of dangers for just one person on their own. Especially one who barely knew how to even shoot a bow properly. "I just ask because it seems like it could be pretty dangerous, and kind of boring traveling around alone."

When asked about her own job she grinned back at him sheepishly. "Well, I mean I have some decent skills but i'm not really employed yet. I could fashion a bow, but it wouldn't be anything special. Not likely anything someone would pay much for. I can also do a bit of hunting, and trapping. Not big game or anything like that." Looking down she idly kicked at a small rock on the ground. She wasn't exactly proud of the fact she didn't have a set job yet.

"I have only done one solo job; the rest, I have always gone out with at least my father and one other warrior," he told her, lining up another shot. "And it is nothing to be ashamed of, not having a job yet. As long as the job you find is something you truly enjoy, you will be fine." The Drykas man released his arrow, wincing when it whistled past the target. "Unlike my archery skills," he added with a chuckle.

Contrast of Diamond and Amethyst[Nhadia, Aran]

"Ya, I mean life out here is hard enough as it is, the last thing I want is to be doing is some job I can't stand. If i'm going to die doing something, I want to feel like it was at least something important." She nodded in confirmation, but felt a small pang of guilt inside. It was long past time she decided what she was going to do to provide for herself, and her indecision was now not only hurting herself but the rest of her pavilion as well. It's not like she didn't notice the looks the elders gave her, or the snide remarks made behind her back. If this man who could barely shoot an arrow could have a job as a courier then she could do something just as useful.

She watched for a while longer as he practised, but then decided it was time to excuse herself. He now knew everything about shooting a bow that she could teach him, and she had business of her own to take care of. The first of which was figuring out just what she was going to do for work. "Well, it was good to meet you. I hope you find what I taught you useful and maybe i'll see you around!" Picking up her pack again she slung it over her shoulder and readied herself to be on her way.

Aran offered Nhadia a smile; when, after another several bells, she made ready to leave, Aran lowered his bow. "Thank you," he said sincerely, clasping one hand over her shoulder and squeezing lightly once. "This will be helpful. I hope that you find a good job. And, gods willing, I would like to see you again." He waved to the young woman as she walked away, and then turned back towards the target.

He counted the arrows in the skin, and sighed when he came up short by five. Looked like he was going arrow-hunting.

Notes

A nice little training and introduction thread. Aran, I know this is an old thread and your style might have changed since, but if you can incorporate more detail about Aran's actions, future threads will net more XP. This is especially true as you gain skill levels; higher skills require more detail in posts for XP to be awarded.

Please PM me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your grade. Also, Aran, please edit your request to show this thread has been graded.
