Note to self about seahorses Remember how they swim: Seahorses breath through gills and have a gas bladder. Fill in to go up, exhale to lower. Although they are aquatic, seahorses are not great swimmers. They propel themselves by using the dorsal fin on their back that flutters up to (apparently on normal tiny seahorses), 35 times per second. The pectoral fins on the back of the head are used for steering. (Assume light headdress pulls head to the direction, and seahorse adjusts fins. The saddles should be lightweight and placed right above the dorsal fin. Seahorses lack scales. Instead, their structure is based on an exoskeleton that is covered with skinlike tissue. Feeding: The seahorse's mouth is an elongated snout adapted to suck small prey. Seahorses feed on crustaceans such as shrimp. -Will assume a riding sea horses size allows it to eat larger fish- (A normal small 4-inch seahorses can attack and consume small shrimp more than half an inch long with little difficulty.) Why not swim away when not looked after? Tiny seahorses are said to never go further than a meter in their lives. Habit to stay in a set place and camo if danger. Assume the same of larger seahorses, will stay in a general territory if left alone.
