Hair Type/Style/Color: Thick, smooth hair, swept backwards and allowed to flow freely, brown-red color.
Eye Type/Color: Normal(Human), Rust-colored.
Body Type: Lean, toned.
Scars/Birthmarks/Tattoos/Etc.: Six scars on his back from being whipped while in prison.
Physical Summary: Paltra looks to be a healthy 23 year old, six-foot-two and one-hundred and sixty-five pounds, and bearing kindly complexion and facial expression. He is someone whom shares enough physical characteristics with the facial structure of other Humans that he can at times inspire feelings of familiarity. In addition, he gives off a jovial, kind-hearted personality, and is easily approachable for conversation--which his eyes also attribute to with their dark, yet strangely warm coloration--especially since this mood seems to be perpetual. His clothes may suggest otherwise at first, but, one may quickly get over that fact, despite his pants being little more than cloth that has a few straps that keep it secure to the body at the knees, ankles, and waist. His upper-body is clothed in a similar fashion, though he also wears a few straps at his shoulders and below the collarbone for anything that he might at one point carry.

He has what looks to be either a large scarf or a sash that drapes over his shoulders, the only side of which that is hanging is the part that goes down to his lower back and is further wrapped around his torso, acting as an improvised pocket for his less than civil devices. In addition, he wears flexible, but durable, shoes that allow him to run without his feet being confined in any severe fashion. Furthermore, he also has been known to wear any number of rings on his fingers, for no other reason but to have them on. (These are often traded in if he is stressed for money. Or, they may be of higher quality, such as silver or gold, depending on his wealth at the time they were purchased.)


Character Concept, Personality Data, etcetera

Secret :
Personality: Paltra Immuran is a man who is friendly and kind to those he meets. He also is a man of significant wit, that of which is to be reckoned with. That said, he does not hesitate--when someone begins to speak in underlying tones and hidden meanings within their words--to engage in a subtle battle of words. He has a strong sense of self, never willing to bend on his values, and will fight tooth and nail to protect and justify anything that he sees fit. There are also a great deal of things that actively perplex him into action, usually sheer curiosity of someone or something. Furthermore, he may not always display what he is actually feeling at the moment on the surface, masking anxiety and fear behind a façade of determination and confidence.

He reacts strangely to nearly any circumstance though, often changing from an affluent speaker to an equally impressive runner--should the situation require a speedy escape. This instant reaction, whether to play along, try to talk his way out of something, fight, or flight, usually saves him. This reaction, however, is based solely on his instinct, which has yet to truly do him wrong. Paltra is by no means a static force, often bending and shifting even the most innocent of conversations into something dastardly, or something dastardly into something that seems utterly ridiculous. More often than not, he will use these capabilities to diffuse situations where the only other option is a fight. Or, he will try to manipulate someone to do something that he wants.

Paltra is steadfastly loyal to his friends, even willing to risk life and limb for a purpose that may not even be his own. Still though, to betray Paltra is to incur the wrath of someone whom actively and regularly engages in larceny, and is considering becoming a mercenary as a part-time job. He is forgiving to a point, or may set aside his personal history in order to work with--for example--a thief that has done him wrong in the past, in order to get to something that he would otherwise be incapable of.

Paltra is not a mere thief though, just as he is not a simple assassin. Instead, the best word that may describe Paltra is ‘Rogue,’ to which is complimentary to his rebellious nature and distaste for most kinds of law, something that he’s carried with him from his place of birth. He actively trains with his weapons, and also hopes to obtain status and prestige--or infamy--the likes of which will rival even the greatest thief and assassin in Mizahar…

Likes: Good food, decent lodging, good company, sharpened weapons, fair amounts of sleep, the evening, getting to know new people, competitions of the good-natured(Illegal) sort, and finally out-running the town guard wherever and whenever possible.

Dislikes: Injuring others--will almost never kill anyone who isn’t his ‘Target’--or stealing from the poor, wasteful people, dull weapons, unclean body conditions, unclean home, overly aggressive personalities, bright and hot days, boring conversations, heavily armored opponents, lack of escape routes, having very little or no money at all, stealing from the poor, betrayal, rejection.

Goals: Wants to become legendary in status in regard to being a Rogue. (His definition of Rogue may be different than others. He wants to be legendary in his ability to steal prized items, or killing even the most cruel, well-guarded individuals. And, disappearing without a trace.) And to assist others in their own dreams and tasks whenever possible… and, perhaps get very, very wealthy at the same time…

Sense of Right: He views attacking anyone that is armed or is asking for trouble as an acceptable thing to do… albeit, he refrains from attacking people merely because they are armed. He will steal from those that obviously don’t need as much as they currently have, and, has a strong repulsion to killing or seriously harming anyone who doesn’t deserve it. He views killing town guards or the ilk as outright wrong, though, enjoys outrunning, outwitting, and outclassing them frequently. Never manipulates his friends, and will never manipulate someone whom he’s engaged conversation with on a friendly level, meaning that he will only manipulate people that he has begun talking to with the intent to do so. And, always be chivalrous, unless the woman in question is possessed/insane/etc. in which case he would rescind this personal rule temporarily.

Sense of Wrong: Fragile, at best. His sense of Right is the only true limitation he has. Aside from that however, he is willing to do almost anything that he feels like.

Phobias: Mild anxiety involved with swimming. Dislikes closed in spaces. Is mildly unsure of himself when speaking to any kind of law sort, will usually begin to become more and more anxious, unless he can convince himself that the individual before him is off-duty/uncaring of who Paltra is. Has been known to have a fear of dying in his sleep from some unseen assailant, therefore is a light-sleeper. Bares a fear of non-human(save for the PC races… most of them. Ghost, Myrian, and Zith all continue to put cause discomfort…)

Unusual Mannerisms: Paltra’s only truly unusual mannerism is that he will always sleep facing the door, and murmur previous plots and plans that he’s performed in his life of thievery while still sleeping. In addition, he subconsciously stares off into nothingness when he sit’s in a room, often that nothingness will be situated on a ceiling, or a corner of the room.


Character History, Pre-Creation

Chapter One, “Not All Thieves Became Thieves for the Money…”

Secret :
--Paltra was born into a lower-middle class family of a father and mother. Being an only child, his life was carefully watched after by his parents, and, he’d received small amounts of schooling. His father had been working in a nobleman’s house for a few years before his birth, and by the time he was eight, the man had commanded respect from a great deal of those that served the Noble-man. In fact, Paltra’s Father had garnered so much respect and power in his position, that the Noble began toying with the idea of making him his advisor. Granted, he was far from an educated man of the schools, but he knew enough that he could hold his weight in debate. This was not a public rumor by any means, and he knew nothing of it. Instead, both he and Paltra’s Mother groomed Paltra in what was considered “Proper” and educated him as best they could without actual schooling, hoping that he could make a better life for himself than they had.

When he was ten, Paltra had finally entered into a school, and had procured what seemed to be a foothold in a life that would lead to a brighter future for he and his family. He was satisfied with this existence, and in fact enjoyed making his parents happy. By his eleventh birthday, his future seemed to be planned and plotted for him by his parents, much to his apathy in that regard. He was merely happy to make his parents smile and rejoice in what their son had the opportunity to become…

Meanwhile though, Paltra’s Father had finally been declared to become amongst the Nobleman’s advisors. Things seemed to have been going well for their family, better than they could have possibly ever hoped. Unfortunately, his success ultimately led to his undoing. Others of the Noble’s retinue fiercely opposed him, and eventually, through rumors, lies and deceit, had ruined his reputation. This alone was all that he Noble had to see, and cast him out without a second thought. From there, with no more money coming in, Paltra had no choice but to abandon the bright future that had been laid out for him.

His father and mother both tried to edge back into a meager wealth, trying to fix their lives. But, the rumors that had been cast about his father remained and scarred any future that Paltra’s family had wished for. Reduced to a shadow of themselves, both of Paltra’s parents searched for work elsewhere, desperate just to put food on the table…


Chapter Two, ”A Divergence of Fate…”

Secret :
--Three years had passed since both of Paltra’s parents endeavored to find a way to simply survive. However, it proved that they could not provide for their son, nor for themselves. Paltra’s Mother had been felled by an illness, more misfortune than anything else, whilst his father had himself been killed only a month later. Paltra, left to fend for himself, desperately stole whatever he could, food, clothing, perhaps even money if he was daring enough. Eventually, he became faster, hardened against the guilt he felt for doing the things he did in order to survive, and applied his intelligence toward clever manipulation.

Eventually, he was found out, but, not by a guard. Instead, he was found by another, someone like him, who offered him a chance to survive better. Intrigued by the idea, and perhaps a forlorn sense of want for family and friends, Paltra accepted. Soon, he found that it was not just one, but four others all of them quite a bit older than he. In the time that he ran with them, acting as a decoy and applying his intelligence to deceive, distract, and manipulate people to survive, his skills as a thief grew substantially. They worked out strategies, pooled their catch, and split it up equally. Life seemed good some weeks, or miserable and risky others. And yet, it didn’t seem to matter to Paltra. Somehow, he felt that he could trust these men, and know that it was returned to him…

Unfortunately, once more life seemed to work against Paltra and his perceived future. One night, they had all decided to break into a shop. It was simple enough, picking the lock on the door while Paltra stood and took watch. As soon as they were in, they went to work, quietly putting as much things as they could into their respective bags. Silver, valued gemstones, daggers, and even Miza’s were collected from the place. Though, in only a few minutes, the town guard were advancing on the store. Trying to impress the others, and unwilling to leave without his cache--having seen the others also take their bags of items with them--he hefted the bag over his shoulder and ran.

He was slow though, the bag weighing him down too much. Reluctantly, he let go of the bag and ran after his ‘Friends’ seeing them disappear into the shadows. He was too slow though, too confused, and before he could hardly comprehend it, he was snared in the clutches of the guard…


Chapter Three, ”For Fortune and Legend…”

Secret :
--Paltra went to prison, at the age of 14, a year after having joined the group of thieves that he had gone to prison for. He had considered it--and rejected the idea--that he could have told the guards the location of their hideout, and perhaps even gotten off without so much as a night in a cell, but he couldn’t betray them. After all, it was his own fault for overestimating how much he could carry, it was his own fault. In his silence, he was confined in a prison of iron and the reek of criminal intent. Confined, or in a brand new school system, for five years. In that time, he learned constantly about the best way to pick a lock, to slice a throat, how to be the quietest, how to lie and manipulate on a whole new level, and ever more. Though he was less interested the first three years of the outside world, he did become far more interested as time wore on.

New prisoners would often tell him of the ways the outside world worked. Granted, they were all slanted toward the criminal, (Or, plain murder, in which case the man was immediately classified as a psychopath in Paltra’s opinion and left alone for the duration of his stay.) but this convinced Paltra to take up a new frame of mind. Instead of the simple stealing, he decided he would strive for a higher goal. After all, ordinary thieves were caught. A Master Thief was not…

When finally he was released at the age of 19, 506 AV, he had acquired more knowledge than he could have possibly ever done on his own on the streets. And yet, he felt refined, as though his miserable stay in prison had sharpened what was strong, and stripped away the weakness he had previously beheld. In this, he had to thank the system of law, thank them egregiously. In fact, he did, displaying mocking sarcasm subtlety and almost playfully, to the first guard he saw. Much to his distaste, the Guard did not engage in equal banter, but he placed upon him the façade of thankfulness in any case.

He had other places to be than there, in any case. With his new knowledge, he intended to find the four men that he had worked with in the past and rejoin them, using his bettered skills to start off where they had left off.

However, five years had indeed been a long time. But Paltra had never expected to find that all four men had moved on from their old lives, two of whom left the city. The other two had used the wealth that they had ‘Procured’ to start their lives anew. One had even become a Guardsmen…

Paltra sat, slumped in an alleyway in dirty clothes and sobbed for almost a day, his heart--or what was left of it--feeling truly betrayed by what had happened in his absence. It felt like he’d been used and thrown away, forgotten as soon as he’d left their hands. Still, he couldn’t blame them. He wouldn’t blame them for becoming something that he couldn’t, for setting their lives straight… but Paltra had already set forth his goals, and he would stand resolute next to those goals…

He found, eventually, that he could work just as well alone, rather than with others. In some ways, he preferred to work his criminal deeds alone, but, a measure of redemption was in order from time to time to keep him feeling as though his soul were clean, or at least cleaner than it would have been. Paltra studied, and fought, teaching himself how to wield a sword from watching the guardsman training, and drawing forth as much information from stolen books, to which he would usually return if they hadn’t increased their security too much. It is at this time that he felt the need to expand his repertoire of skills and knowledge, and to enrich his life…

And so, he goes now to Syliras, to learn more about the capital city, and perhaps to try and find others that he may share his goals with…
