Cimmanil Coldforge Vizerian |
Appearance
Race: Isur Caste: Avora Gender: Female Age: 38 Birthday: Tenth Day of Spring, 475 Birthplace: Vizerian Citadel
Appearance: Cimmanil is a typically built Vizerian Isur. She is short, broad-shouldered and stocky, with an athletic, toned body, large chest, and thick, muscular arms and shoulders. She wears a severe, humourless glare in almost all situations. Her hair, cut to a utilitarian short crop, is as black as the deep places beneath the mountains, and her eyes are similarly dark. Her skin has the slight bluish tint typical to her clan, while her powerful right arm appears to be molten dusky blue steel, with veins of bright silver. When not working, she typically wraps her hefty bosom in a plain white strapless Vinati of the Inarta style that exposes her exquisitely toned and muscular stomach. She is often covered in black soot and metal slivers, the remainder of her outfit being a pair of plain white Bryda, and a leather smith’s apron.
Character Concept Cimmanil comes off as stubborn, rigid, and gruff, while also extremely confident in her drive for perfection in craftsmanship. She has very little care for idle conversation, or what she sees as the frivolities of some aspects of life in Wind Reach. She appreciates the highly stratified, hierarchical nature of the Inarta people, recognizing her own place among them and striving to better herself in their caste system. She is deeply religious, and follows the devotional rites of the Vizerian with meticulous care. She could be characterized as obsessive-compulsive, replacing every item she owns to its specific place, and conducting herself in measured rituals of routine. She is industrious and deliberate in her drive to learn and perfect the craft of her people, often working past the point of exhaustion in front of the forge. Her voice is deep and rich, but she speaks seldomly and is quick to get to the point. Her only passion is her craft.
She has a deep love for metals. Shaping them to her will and turning the plain ores wrenched from the guts of the earth into magnificent tools and weaponry is incredibly satisfying to the young Isur. The soot of the forge, the pounding of her hammer upon an anvil, and the hot glow of red iron are what give her pleasure. She lusts after perfection in each project, and her aspiration is to reach levels of achievement in metalsmithing that would place her among the paragons of her race and give glory to her god.
Character History Cimmanil is unaware of anything pertaining to her parents, and was raised by her grandfather Cimmandir, who is a stone-faced, taciturn and fanatically religious man and an extremely strict disciplinarian who raised his granddaughter in the Vizerian devotional tradition. He was not a man to show his emotions or suffer fools, and was quick to reach for the rod if Cimmanil did not meet his lofty expectations for her studies and behaviour. This discipline was drilled deep into the young Isur, and shapes her personality and drive to succeed today. Upon reaching the age of 30, Cimmanil was sent from her home to Wind Reach to work at the volcanic Arms Gallery and build her craftsmanship among the Inarta. This unusual action reflects some political situation that Cimmanil is unaware of, and she is somewhat shamed by what she saw at first as exile. She has grown to appreciate Wind Reach in her time among the Inarta, finding their caste society and excellence in crafting to be admirable qualities, though she finds their obsession with birds somewhat frivolous. She strives for perfection in her craft, in the hopes of pleasing the master smiths of Wind Reach and proving herself to her grandfather, and someday returning to Sultros to take her place among her own people.
Cimmanil spent several years of study in the Learning Gallery, studying the norms of Inarta society, as well as geography, history, and mathematics. She learned basic Nari at this time, taking special effort to practice speaking the language of her adoptive people. For the most part, she excelled at her studies, but had great difficulty in socialization with the Yasi due to her foreign looks and obvious age difference, though she was every much the child as her fellow Yasi. Though a good student, this strain often led Cimmanil to trouble with Nimala and Piko, among other teachers and tutors. Over the years of Yasihood, however, she gained a grudging acceptance from her peers. In the advanced classes, her dutiful efforts in her studies and great potential as a craftswoman led to her leaving the Learning Galleries and finding herself elevated to the Avora caste, an achievement she is very proud of. She has since been made an apprentice blacksmith, and eagerly leapt into the role.

Gnosis Marks "The Isur are unique in that they are all born with the first mark of Izurdin in the form of their metallic arms. For them, this only adds fuel to their claims that the Isur are the mortal descendants of Izurdin and thus worthy of respect and honor due to beings of such stature."
