2 Winter 513
Millicent's finger slowly traced over the massage table. The fabric bunched above her finger and slide smoothly underneath. She circled the small room slowly. At the end of the table, her eyes lingered on a well done charcoal drawing of a nude woman. Millicent had no experience with art, but she could easily appreciate the attention give making the muscles seem real. Other than the picture though the room seemed bear, almost like a repurposed store room.
The soft fabric felt so good under her hand and before she knew it she was staring at the ceiling. She had no intended to lay down, but battle to resist was lost before it had truly begun. The mattress conformed slightly to her body, but then held her up firmly. I wish I could sleep here Millicent said her mouth curving upwards in a smile.
However she felt a chill come over her body as she stayed there. The gray stone ceiling and walls seemed to suck the heat out of the room. The longer she laid there the more it felt like the walls where closing in on her. Maybe I should leave Syliras for a while. She thought, the stone seeming more confining than ever before in her life. Her mind drifted back to the conversation she had with that scarred man who's name she could not recall. Her whole body gave a shudder and she felt goosebumps on her arms. With a shake of her head, she banished him form her mind.
Alright enough laying down. She told herself swinging her legs over the side of the table. Millicent heard the hiss and splash of water before a burning sensation rushing though her leg. “Aww” She hissed her her squinting her eyes shut and forcing back the pain. “Oh bother” She grumbled fighting back stronger curses.
After the shock had faded, her attention went immediately to the glass bottle. Her hands trembled as she picked it up threatening to drop it again. If it had broken, she did not know what she would do. I would probably be fired Her mind jumped to the worse conclusion. Carefully she turned the bottle over hands, her heart skipping a beat at every small turn. Her sigh seemed to echo around the room, as she returned the bottle to the shelf.
“Now what to do about this?” She wondered aloud putting her hand on her hips. Her eyes winced slightly as her leg throbbed. Ignoring that, she went and got some towels from outside and wiped up the water. She whole body felt oddly tense and she had to remind herself how to breath, “Ok, well my I still have a little time before my first client.” Millicent said sitting on the edge of the table.
Looking down at her leg, she examined the damage. It is fine She told herself looked at a large red area that was being to swell up. Luckily her uniform was not hurt. The pair of shorts given to her seemed fairly resilient to waters. Looking at the burn made her sigh, I would not want the client to see this She reasoned as she took a linen cloth and wrapped a cloth around it. She winced and almost pulled away when the fabric touched her leg.
