[Antinous Training Grounds] Blade or Blunt? [Cyneheard]

7th day of Winter, 513AV

It was a rather cold winter's day when Cromley awoke in his dormitory. The cold however invigorated him. Today is going to be a good day to train. I can feel it. He had talked to his patron the night before who was going to be setting him up a sparring partner today. Cromley always jumped at the chance to fight somebody new. Perhaps this person will be a challenge to Cromley, something he longed for. After all you cannot get stronger unless you fight somebody close to or stronger yourself.

He got out of bed and began donning his armor in preparation for some intense training. The armor felt very cold against his skin which woke him up even quicker than the excitement that he was experiencing. Hopefully this guy knows what he's doing when he's fighting.

Cromley then began the trek to the training grounds where he was to meet his patron and his new sparring partner. The whole time, however, he could not get his mind off of Ellen, his childhood and closest friend. He hoped that this new man would be at least as strong as her. When he was fighting Ellen he felt alive as their weapons clashed against shields. They knew each other for so long that they had developed a special bond through fighting. But in his heart Cromley knew that Ellen was not the only warrior he would have to fight. After all there are bound to be many other fighters he would have to best in order to ascend as a knight and this man was just going to have to be one of them.

When he arrived at the training grounds he began to wonder who the man he would fight was. All he knew about him was that his patron was Nasher Amad, a knight who Cromley had not actually met before only heard speak of. If Nasher is anything like Victor and Alexander than he probably picked a strong squire to teach. I better watch my back. He saw his patron standing on the frost covered field with two other men standing with him. One looked to be about the same height as Victor and with the same battle worn and stern eyes. Cromley took this to be Nasher. There was also a boy standing with them who looked to be about Cromley's age.

"Hello, Ser Victor! I am ready for today's training. Am I also correct in thinking that this is Ser Nasher Amad? It is a pleasure to meet you" said Cromley with much excitement in his voice. Next looking at the boy clad in armor next to the patrons, he said "Hello I am Cromley Stronghammer. It is a pleasure to meet you. What can I call you?"

Not that it mattered much to Cromley who the young squire was. It was simply a formality. If there was one thing that Cromley's father had taught him before leaving the house to enter pagehood, it was to show respect to all other knights and squires regardless of who they are. After all many of them have gone through the same trials as he had to get to this point. Excitement then began to start welling through Cromley as he anticipated the oncoming battle. Hopefully this young squire proved skilled and a challenge for both of them.
