PC Name’s (Required) Sanguine Black
Physical Information (Required)
Race- Zith
Birthday & Age- 16
Gender- male
Physical Description
For a Zith, he is small and scrawny, thin and unimposing. Standing only about 5’8”, he weighs somewhere around 145 pounds. He tends to stand with bad posture, leading him to hunch as he sits. His face, oddly enough, is less exotic looking than other Ziths and there is a quietness to him. His eyes often sunken or sad, but with a quiet air of menace to them, also. He has all the usual trappings as a Zith, blackish skin, pale eyes and great leathery wings and a skinny tail. Unlike most of his race, he is regularly seen wearing clothes, the backs of his shirt and coat, however, have been torn up to allow his wings to spread out. Sometimes, he will throw on another cloak to conceal his wings, hoping to pass off as an Akalak, though most people rarely buy it.
Character Concept
Personality – Zith has a very dark and disturbed mind, and anyone who will chance to meet him is made aware of this very quickly. He is rude and temperamental with others, enjoying a morbid sense of humor or just simply being morbid, watching more delicate sensibilities squirm under his crassness. Naturally, he has little consideration for the feelings of others, and oftentimes scoffs at the notion of friendship or intimacy.
Like all Zith’s he is naturally an inquisitive and curious creature with a fascination for magics, gods, and otherworldly powers. He also is has a curiousity for earthly powers and has immense respect for species like the Myrians and the Akalak’s (their power, but nothing of their culture). He has a passion for bettering himself, honing his skills and achieving respect. He longs for a day in which he commands his own clan of Ziths, perhaps even power over humans or other races. There is a longing for conquest in his belly, and overall, a deep craving for power.
Overall, however, there is a deep sadness and loneliness lurking in the bowels of his psyche, a creature who is terrified of his own weaknesses. His resentment of others is built off his jealousy of their happiness, and his refusal to let anyone in, lest he lose them or worse, they betray him. He is in the end a defensive creature, who dreams of unspeakable power in place of real happiness.
Ethics - Zith has few moral qualms when it comes to achieving his goals, to the point of almost keep amorality. He does, however, have at least a small semblance of a moral code and refuses to harm children or the sickly. He also does not hurt those who have shown him kindness, which tends to be a rarity anyway.
Likes- Magic, power, respect, the night, the quiet, and redheads
Dislikes – His family, naivety, slothfulness, lechery, angry mobs, people who insult him, people who look at him funny, people who probably don’t like him but are probably too scared to say it to his face, people who happened to be near Black when he was angry.
Character History
Born as the 8th child his poor mother conceived, one of 8 children of 4 mothers. To say that he was at times neglected would be an understatement. This was only added on to the fact that Black was considered by his brothers, sisters, cousins, and even his own father to be the “runt of the litter”. He was the smallest and was regularly picked on, often to the point where his life was threatened several times. No one was there to help, his mother never daring to coddle one of her own into weakness. Black became bitter towards his brothers and sisters, and he isolated himself from both them and eventually the world, until he met Ayia.
Ayia was a halfbreed Inarta and human whom had been taken, with her sister, to be a slave for Black’s family. Ayia was only 17 and her sister 13. Black took a liking to the girl. Lucky for Black, his family treated slaves rather well, and Ayia was able to spend time with Black as a companion. Ayia was a unique girl, her father an accomplished Summoner and her mother an Inarta glass blower, and Black was fascinated by the world she told him. She even gave him his name, Sanguine Black, as it sounded poetic name but still retained a good sense of darkness. He liked it very much.
Black, now of age, made it clear to his family he would take Ayia as his mate, and free her younger sister. This did not go over well with his father or mother, but Black had decided and would take banishment or any other disownment regardless. His brothers, however, sought to “save” their brother from “shame” and murdered young Ayia in the night. When he discovered this, Black did exactly what would be expected and killed the brothers responsible. Wanting nothing more to do with them, he left his family, taking along Ayia’s younger sister Keisi.
Black took Keisi to where her family was last known to be. Through traveling, they discovered that Keisi’s father had gone off to live in isolation after his wife was killed and his children presumed dead after a Zith hunt. Black eventually found the father’s house and returned Keisi to him. Grateful, the father allowed a request of Black. Naturally, his request was to be trained as a summoner. The father reluctantly agreed.
For six years Black studied under the Master Summoner, each new lesson fascinating him as he enriched himself on the ways of other worlds. More so than that, he became enraptured by the power he commanded as a summoner, with lesser creatures warming up to him better than human summoners given his less than human nature. This began to worry the father.
For as long as the Master Summoner had known Black, he told himself not a hold a grudge against him for being a part of the zith family that enslaved his children. After all Black had no say in the matter and had in fact saved his youngest while trying to also save the oldest. But as Black began to become engrossed with power, he suspected that Black was just like his family. Worse still was his own daughte, Keisi had now fallen in love with Black as her older sister had. Black also had feelings for the girl and again planned to asked The Master Summoner for permission to marry. The Father would not have that, he would not lose his only daughter to a Zith, and he plotted to kill Black.
On a spring morning, The Master Summoner opened a terrible assault on Black, unleashing a flurry of creatures beyond Black’s defense. Keisi, however, rushed to save her lover and opened a powerful summoning to counteract her father’s spells. Having only a minor knowledge of Summoning, however, the spell turned sour and Keisi died trying to save Black. In grief The Father killed himself, allowing Black a chance to escape.
Now left without a home, Black was left but with only one choice: endure. Swallowing his tears, and his pain he would do just that. He would do more than that, he would surpass this. He would dedicate himself to his powers, the only thing that had yet betray or leave him. He took no heirloom, no small token to remember either Ayia or Keisi, he could not let memories of love get in the way of his life now.
