Appearance
Rha has golden brown, curly hair that extends to his shoulders. He’s nearing to be 180cm tall, and weighs 71kg. He’s lean and soft, with charming, boy-ish features. His eyes are sparkling blue, like pools bathed in sunlight. There is not much facial here to speak of, except short, blond hairs, visible only on close-up (Picture will come when I find a suitable one).
Character Concept
Rha is a fifteen-year old boy in search of his biological father, but in reality he cares much more about the sights and sounds along the way. Raised by an adoptive Pod of river-Svefra, he had barely seen open waters before about three seasons ago, when he was given leave by his Pod to look for his father and to find his Tavan. He’s a free-spirited man, never really seeking anything, but takes life as it comes. The only goal he has is to find his father, but he’s not really searching. He’s just hoping that one day, he will meet him, and he has a higher chance of that on the Suvan Sea. He travels with various pods of Svefra, as he feels the need for closeness as any of his kin does, but is stubbornly free-spirited, never lingering with one pod too long.
He can enjoy just about anything. An exciting day is just as enjoyable as a lazy day. He doesn't have a firm ethical code, but as most else he takes it as it comes. Consequential ethics fits best, as he usually judges each situation separately, though he's never able to think too far down the line. Rha can't be said to dislike anything, as he views the world more in "hues of likes". He might like some things less, but he never strictly dislikes it. For example, physical pain, even though it does hurt, is just proof that he lives; another natural part of life. While losing a friend is sad, sadness is good and a very human thing to feel, and new doors are always opening. He takes everything in stride, and his innate happiness never falters.
History
Rha came to the world on a riverbank in the Spring of 498 AV. He never knew his parents. Rha’s mother died on that same riverbank giving birth to him. His father, he has been told, is a warrior roaming the Suvan Sea, but he has never met him. It was his luck, that on the fateful day of his birth, a small Pod of river-Svefra had found him red and bawling, lying near the cold feet of his mother. They took it as a miracle, that the child had not been found by a predator before they had gotten there. Possessing the bluest eyes they had seen, they embraced him warmly as their own. They gave him a proper Svefra upbringing, sailing, swimming and fishing his way through the early years of his life.
The Riverwings were staunch, but stagnated, which was an ill fit for his free spirit. The rivers were their home, and they never spoke of the sea. Rha never understood why not. They were an odd lot, compared to other Svefra he had met. As he grew older, he understood that they were not his real family. They looked different than him too, with black hair and gaunt features. For all their love of him, he was never able to feel truly close to them. At the age of fifteen, he was given leave by Lia Riverwing to travel to the Suvan Sea, to search for his kin. He was given The Seabird, a small Casinor, and had been taught how to fare a vessel on open waters, as well as which sea-fish were edible. Another reason why he sought the sea was that he had yet to find his Tavan. He thought since he was not of the rivers, like his adoptive family, he would not be able to find his Tavan there, hoping instead to find it in the open sea.
Reaching the Suvan Sea, he soon fell in love with it. Sailing across the open waters, with only distant lands in sight, he felt freedom in the wind. Only two weeks since he had reached the sea, and a bird had stooped down and perched itself on his head. It seemed disinclined to get off his head, so he fed it one the small fish he had caught that morning. It had eaten the fish whole, and had flown away. Some time passed before it came back, but this time it dropped a fish onto the deck, before again taking residence in Rha’s hair. Since that day, the black-and-white bird with its unusual, long beak has never been far away. Rha named it Chippet. When Chippet is around, Rha is never lonely.
Currently, Rha has been in the Suvan Sea for a few months, and has met many other Svefra Pods. When meeting one, he usually travels with them for a while. He always drifts off again though, before they can make him part of their pod. He sometimes have to sneak away, as being podless is strictly taboo. He tells them he has a pod, and that he is just on adventure. Some pods go as far as to follow him, but in the end he always gets away, or they give up. His free-spirited nature makes it difficult for him to settle down any one place. Now that he has experienced true freedom, he would rather drift from pod to pod than be stuck in one. At least, that is what he thinks.
Personality: Free-spirited, Easily distracted, curious, adventurous and stubborn
Rha is an easily distracted type of guy, definitely to a fault, though it makes him a cheerful boy. He lives in the moment, thinking neither far back nor far head. He usually meets each day with a grin on his face, enjoying each chime of life as they come. In social situations though, he’s not the greatest conversationalist, as he will often drop out. If something around him catches his interest he’ll immediately start focusing on that. It doesn’t have to be anything though, as he can just as well distract himself with his own thoughts. Many of his days have been spent simply lying back, day-dreaming, as new thoughts can keep him continuously distracted. He’s also curious and adventurous, often at the expense of personal safety. He’s a free-spirited man, and stubbornly so.
He often has an apparent anti-social behavior, but not actually. The sea, he feels, is just as much a companion as any human. It listens; it speaks, and has a mind of its own. At least, that is how Rha feels it. He does get the need to socialize with other of his kin, but on the Suvan Sea, they are never too far away. And Chippet is always close.
Tavan
Secret :
A male Black Skimmer named Chippet, or “Chip” in short. Chip is 43cm long, with a wingspan of 115cm. It weighs 337g. The only command it responds to is a high-pitched “Chip, Chip” call from Rha. Otherwise, this bird does what it wants, when it wants. It will usually perch itself on Rha’s head, and in winter, its favorite place is inside his cabin. Sometimes it will disappear for hours, or even days, but it always comes back, and Rha is confident it will. His Tavan is not his pet, but simply a companion.
Family Heirloom
A bow given to him by Lia Riverwing when he left to find his father, which used to belong to her father. It's a short-bow intended to use as both an offensive or defensive weapon during a boarding, or to hunt animals along the riverbank. Estimated worth is 15 GM.
