Kwantu of the Sunken Scars.
Name - Kwantu.
Age - 20
Apparent Age - 19
Gender - Male.
Race - Myrian.
Weight - 130lbs.
Height - 5'6".
Location - Taloba.
Appearance -
Kwantu has few piercings or tattoo's over his body, with the only exception being around his ears. He makes up for this in the amount of scars that adorn his body, dragging down his shoulders, chest and back, although there are surprisingly little around his stomach. His right arm is most adorned, with intricate patterns weaving up the forearm and bicep. These are the markings of his rite of passage, with every stripe showing another task. Because of the way that they overlap continuously and seem to actually wind around each-other in a writhing mass of snakes, it has become considerably difficult to make out how many there are. His skin, from years under the Taloban sun, has been darkened to a rich shade of bark-like brown. With black shoulder-length hair that is occasionally tied back into a tail down the nape of his neck his youth is not lost on many but neither is the emotion shown in his eyes when it comes to battle, that proves him as old enough to venture out and take whatever he can.
Personality -
Like many Myrian, he is not as stupid as many believe. He relishes a chance to prove himself - possibly due to his upbringing, with the constant pushes of his father and the imprinting desire to better himself physically and mentally to prepare for the dangers ahead, but whenever he succeeds, he does not take it lightly. He always seeks a chance to find an opponent and beat them, and often raises high stakes; this does not mean that he does not think about them, before he makes them. Victories are celebrated, losses are built upon with a need to better himself and prove that he can overcome all obstacles thrown in his way, and foes are honored as valiant even in their defeats. However, sometimes, he fails to find a balance between thinking about an action and performing it - this has led to many mistakes that he is not proud of, and something that he seeks to improve most of all. At times, it has proven useful enough that has never gone with his gut, but never disputed its advice.
History -
Kwantu was raised by Ruhza, his mother and Kuur, his father of the Sunken Scars. Kuur served his mandatory three years in the Myrian army and remained there long afterwards, with Ruhza telling stories of his father and his thirst on the battlefield. Growing up, he watched three of his brothers die in the coming-of-age rituals that they were required to take, although there are stories of two older brothers that have already survived. One still lives in the clan, fathering children and training them in the arts of battle; the other enlisted in the Myrian Army out of choice after his three years of service and was not heard from again. Preparing to join the army for his three years of mandatory service was dotted regularly with visits to Taloba, and Kuur, for Kwantu's father wished to teach him in the dangers that he would soon face, and his weapons in the year before he joined the military. But for all that Kuur had warned him, he enjoyed his time there immensely - more than he could have actually imagined. And so, after a brief return to his clan for his final goodbyes, he returned to Taloba to enlist again - this time, permanently.
Concept -
Kwantu is, surprisingly, not always running head-first into war. He often looks back to Taloba and feels that it is not enough for him, and wishes to venture into the world and take from it all that he can. He is not honorable, but cunning; a body is a body, whether taken in the heat of battle or slit when the opponent is asleep. Given the chance, and the knowledge that he has a standing chance, he will prefer proper battle over underhand tactics, but he will not hesitate to return to these if they mean a victory. Often, he refuses to talk about anything but combat, and spends a vast majority of his time either preparing for it, or actually doing it. He has a life outside but he rarely talks about it, even with fang-mates. He takes to battle simply because he enjoys this bloodshed, and accepts this as a truth. And to be completely honest, it's not like he's the only one, right?
Heirloom - Ceremonial Dagger.
This dagger, made with a wooden handle carved and engraved by his mother and an iron blade, was given to Kwantu at a young age. It has a blunt edge but a very sharp needle-like tip. The reason for this is because it is not used for combat - it is specifically used for carving fresh scars into the skin. One day, she told him that he would give it to his son, and carve the symbols of their tribe into his back.
Gnosis Mark - Myri.
The Level 1 Prowess mark, from Myri, was not given to Kwantu during his Blooding Ceremony. Instead, it was given to him during his three years of mandatory service, while training in the fields. It manifests on his right bicep, close to the shoulder, where she touched him.
Housing -
After leaving the tribe and heading for Taloba, he soon took up residence in the military barracks there.
