The moans filled the air about her, grey eyes gazing around with slight disdain as she watched the prisoners stew in their misery. The Sorceress wondered if she might end up here should she step out of line, or if her allegiances should be found out by an enemy. Probably not, most likely the destruction she could bring would outweigh any information she might possess. There were advantages to being a powerful reimancer, a likely death in the event of her stepping out of line was only one of them.
The Sorceress held a plate in her hand, upon it a somewhat substantial meal of some form of fish. She was here on business after all, in more than one regard and she was actually looking forward to it to some degree. It had been a while since she had last done something like this, part of her wondered if it would be same as before. It had felt good before but was that only because it had been new?
The tall woman navigated her way to a solitary cell, peering in and finding herself pleased that her appointment would not be spoiled by the subject of it being dead. A rather underfed and dirty looking young human woman peered up at her, eyes glittering in recognition. The dark haired woman raised an eyebrow and approached a little closer. She did have promise to keep up today.
She had promised the prisoner food and water for helping in a little experiment of hers. The woman had assisted so here she stood, food in hand and a full waterskin at her side. Word was law here on Sahova, even that of an Apprentice to a prisoner and to break it was a rather poor idea when all things were considered. She smiled reassuringly at the woman and held up her offering.
"I didn't think you would actually come back." The woman said, eyeing the food hungrily.
Anna smiled and simply passed it through the bars, the prisoner all but scrambling over herself and inhaling the food. The Sorceress was slightly amused by this sight, so weak, so broken by the island in the worst ways. Not like Anna, no, she had been broken in a different way but one that made her stronger rather than weaker. It had reforged her faith in He who she loved above all else and made her feel closer to him than ever before.
"I know most wizards are rather cruel, but honestly its like everyone is always expecting the worst of me simply because I have ring around my finger. It gets a little old to be honest, the who mad wizard expectation." Anna said sardonically, which earned an amused snort from the prisoner as she ate.
It hardly took her long to finish the meal and when she did Anna offered her waterskin, which she took and started taking long and greedy gulps from the container. The tall woman waited for a little while, the woman wiping her chin of stray droplets and licking them from her fingers. Her breathing was a little heavy from not having taken a breath through the drink.
The woman handed the container back to Anna through the bars, giving her a mix of a look of gratitude and suspicion. This only earned another enigmatic smile from the tall woman as she replaced the waterskin at her side. She was mistrustful, it was to be expected at the moment though Anna had a way to work her way up to where she needed to be. It was time to begin the dance.
"Why did you bother with me?" She asked, daring to lean against the bars with grubby fingers gripping the metal objects.
"There is that mistrust again. There is an old saying involves gift horses and looking them in the mouth, its considered unwise, my dear. If you need a reason, how about its that I owed you one? To indulge in the vernacular." Anna said, a wry grin on her face as she articulated her words.
The woman raised and eyebrow and Anna responded by sitting down in front of the cell. She carefully followed suit, obviously still a little jaded about the whole affair. The Sorceress didn't really blame her, such was the nature of Sahova to have mistrust as a natural response.
"Actually, if you must know, I do have an ulterior motive. I'd like to talk to someone and figure you aren't exactly busy so here I am." Anna said.
"Talk? About what? I don't even know your name."
"My name is Velia, and as for what to talk about I leave that up to you." The tall woman lied smoothly.
