The promised Alog since I lack the required cam to jump on the Vlog train. My mic isn't the best quality so it does this weird thing near the end. Also the frog is due to the fact Youtube wouldn't let me upload start audio so meh. Enjoy? Feel free to ask any questions you want and I can stick them in my next Audio log.

When writing think about what is happening as three seperate groups; Enviroment, Mental and Emotion.

Okay Enviroment is what is physically happening so think five senses; what can you hear? What can you taste? What can you smell? What can you Feel? What can you see? Too often writer focus only on what can be seen and forget about tastes, sounds, tecture of object and smells. Use all five senses to communicate the scene better to the reader. Oh and don't forget about what is happening with your characters body; Are they short of breath? Are they hurt? When they stand up do their knees click? Are their muscles sore? Are they making a face, if so how are they making that face; What are their eyebrows doing? Are they dirty? Do they have sweaty hands? ect. ect. You get the idea?

Mental is thoughts and relationships with people. Does what's happening remind them of anything they have seen before? Would someone they know be interested in what is happening even if they aren't? Are they trying to think of what to do; of so follow their thought process. 'Okay I can't do.. I can't do ... but this looks similar to ... so I'll try to do ....' comes out better than 'and then ... thought of the answer.' Remember that your character is more than the here and now they are thinking of their past and their future, even if it is just 'Oh what am I gonna have for super tonight?'

Emotion is what it says on the tin, Emotions and feelings. Does what's happening make them sad or angry? Are they frustrated that it isn't going to plan? Are they amused by the situation? Are they cry, if so why? Is it funny? Is is depressing? Are they happy for any reason? How are their Thoughts and memories effecting their mood? Can they just not stand being in the same room with someone or does the very thought of someone make them go all lovestruck? Characters have feelings and these can be a lot of fun to play with.

Anyway Last and final tip is to Show, not tell. Saying 'whomever was very much in love with whomever' is all good and well but explaining that 'the very thought of them made their knees shake and a thousand butterflies to take wing inside their gut as the image of them and whomever slow danced around the corners of their mind' is alot more effective.

Update on Life

Okay since joining University, I have made some really good friends and suddenly have a social life (Shock Horror). As a result, my mizahar time is being taken over by being-social time, thus replies are even slower than before. (turtle speed just became snail speed) I plan to get this sorted and such so I can fling replies at people more steadily. Just a heads up as to why I have vanished from chat and the general lack of replies.
