Today's Maincure...
Judi by Julep and Witch Way by KB Shimmer

Sorry this took me so long! I am totally willing to volunteer my services as a guinea pig for you, Jin. I really can't wait to see what you come up with next! As for nail care, I only rock the basics: Sally Hansen's Instant Cuticle Remover, Nail Tek II and Seche Vite. I have yet to acquire a buffer or a glass file, though once upon a time I had the former, and as I recall, I'm pretty sure it was destroyed from some hardcore buffing.

This mani is particular started out as Witch Way only, but I ended up removing it and starting fresh as I'd been going too quickly. In the end, I think it was a better choice to use Judi as my base color. Plus, I adore the consistency of Julep polishes. They're really easy to apply. I'm still on the fence with the Plie Wand... I don't know how to feel about it.

I scored that deal with Enchanted Polish which I'm super excited about. Likewise, I just ordered my Mystery Box.

Make-up lovers, baby! I even got the super special add-on, which is exciting. If anyone wants to swap, I'll be sharing what I got in it.

Also, if you're ever in the mood for a cool indie polish, I rocked Event Horizon by Comit Vomit over the weekend. It's a black holo. It was amazing in the light but I think the adhesive base coat actually dulled the shine. Still, it is definitely worth a look if you're into holos like I am!

I like watching this seller a lot because he's in Vegas, always has the entire collection for sale at discount (as they come out and on some old collections) - does Orly, Essie, CG, and some Opi... and for the most part offers free shipping. So basically take Orly for example. They sell for 7.99-9.99 depending on where you get them. He sells them for around $5 a bottle free shipping if you buy the whole collection. Individual bottles are a bit more (or less depending - saw some fugly ones there too from otherwise cool collections). He also has a lot of product like Seche Vite or underwear of various flavors. And for me, shipping from Vegas is one day or two tops.

It doesn't look fantastic, but it is. And take the image above, and then brighten it by a factor of ten.. the neon is so neon you can't hardly look at it and the pink is a bright barbie pink. This was nothing I'd look twice at in a store shopping. But.... The pink is gorgeous, the periwinkle is stunning, and there's beautiful disaster over there by itself on the end. Sparkling garbage looking like a normal glitter front and center but its BEAUTIFUL. Even the creams which I suspect are supposed to be basecoats or underwear for the special effects ones are gorgeous. The only thing I don't like is the neon orange. WTH is with that? But it does go with my safety vest at work and might look stunning this summer when we're all rocking tans and wearing neon flip flops.

But anyhow the seller sent me out a new set of surreals (check the swatches on google.. sooo pretty) and cut me a huge discount on the wrong ones I already had so all I'm going to do is pay that when I get the right polishes. So all total I think I'm getting both collections at about 2.50 a bottle averaged.

Go me!

Elysium... I so love KShimmer's products. They don't make a nail polish I don't love.

Oh and if anyone's a fan, Rescue Beauty Lounge is doing preorders on their The Poem Collection... which i don't like. I do love Grow Wild Raspberries... or Raspberries Grow Wild... or ... the green crelly with the pink sparkles in it. But not enough for the bottle price.

How exciting! I may have to order the mani one myself...so very, very tempting. Speaking of which though, is there a way to give you maven points for the mystery boxes too, Jen? Or is that only for maven boxes?

Hoorah, I shall have to make more polishes then to be tested! I just need a break in between sittings cause it's fume-y as hell. Fear for my poor noggin and all that. But I will have some cool ones with bearable formula soon, hopefully. I'm trying some really weird combos, like green base with bronze holo glitter...yeeahhh, still working on that, but hey, like the Robinsons say.

Those are some sweet ORLY's! If you end up hating that neon orange in spite of flip flops and tans, I would totally swap your for it

I don't know what I would do with a color so caustic, but the possibilities intrigue me. I'm still coping with the harsh reality that due to my rather, er, ambitious endeavors I'm going to be producing a lot of duds and ugly ass combos. Right now it's like a 50/50 deal, one comes out cool and the next is an utter travesty that I wouldn't even give away for free.

Hey!

No credits on Mystery Boxes but that's still great. I love supporring these Seattle pro-women startups. I think this one doesn't give you Jules anymore either if your a Maven. I ended up with the Makeup Lovers and the mystery add-ons so I might have swap stuff too if I get duplicates.

If you love neon you can have the orange lol. Ill make you a care package. Its killer bright. And my bestie kindly pointed out a woman my age shouldn't be caught dead with neon nails. I know what I want in trade too. But we need to talk about that. How hard is it to recolor or glitter an existing white or cream polish? Maybe we can trade for enough glitter or pigments for a few bottles.

Woot! I like certain neons, even though they tend to look horrible against my skin. But for something that radioactive looking...I am itching to see what kind of things I could do with it franken wise

Tis not hard at all! It's just a matter of getting the ratio right between glitter, pigmented polish, and glitter base. Glitter base is a must, otherwise all that pretty glitter just sinks to the bottom and you risk innuendos left and right every time you have to shake the bottle like your life depends on it just to get a few pieces onto your nails @_@

But we can definitely trade that way. I actually own, sadly, zero Juleps...I stopped massively hoarding polish a while back so I missed out on a lot of nice brands and indies. I can give you a small container of glitter base (probably only need to fill up half a bottle with it and fill the rest with regular white/clear polish), baggies of sample glitters (you only need about a tsp or two for a full sized bottle) and other goodies. Do you need BB balls? I got lots to spare!

I enjoy lurking on this thread mostly because I love the artsy-ness of nail polish but have neither the skill nor the acceptable working conditions to execute a decent manicure.

That having been said I was trolling Pinterest and found this Tutorial on How to Make Your Own Nail Polish.

Seems fairly legit. And while I could never dream of doing such a thing I figured I'd pass it on to you talented ladies.

Also, I got my Julep Mystery Box and loved it. There are spoilers all over the web if you haven't seen what is in each one. I liked what was in the Pedi box so much I went ahead and ordered it when I scored a coupon code that cut the price down by half. I would have shared it but it was a one use only code. The mystery add-ons were great too, except I have to one more to franken if I ever get up the courage. I'm tired of neutrals and they sent one.
