The Rancid Reindeer Front The wind bringing the moisture from the docks creates reoccurring creaks, and the soaked wood having expanded makes for a wobbly floor underfoot. The oldest bar in Avanthal, it never had a good reputation and was largely filled with travelers or fisherman that had landed on the dock. All of the former were often irritable from the cold, wet journey, and the fisherman were always hankering for a good night of drinking... heavily. The parties are often loud and fall into the next day, leaving men stumbling drunk from the door that always inevitably sticks when opening. Fortunately, most other buildings have kept their distance, and the Icewatch can be spotted on particularly raucous nights in the shadows, keeping a watchful eye for any violent trouble. Besides the odd bar fight, this seedy place threatens only your pouch and not your life. Made from wood, ice and stone, it is a ramshackle building with the middle of the roof sagging like the back of a 14-year old brood mare. To the left is a fireplace often stone cold or with a few trails of dusty smoke rising from it. On the odd occasion, it may have a low fire, but even that hardly seethes through the logs. The pub is divided into two sections. The front is walled with stone and peaks only a few feet above Vantha heads. The benches are low and covered in fur with only candles to light it. The second section is at the back and possesses the fire. The chairs and tables are mismatched, and several have fallen through at innocuous moments, causing bar fights. The tables are stained with spilled drinks and, washed as infrequently as they are, are often incredibly sticky. The ceiling is a mix of rafters and storage. Bar food is not served as the kitchen has long since stopped working, and the owners don’t make enough to repair the expensive equipment. The walls are made of a deep grey stone with frequent small gaps that let a draft in. These are covered as quickly as possible by tarps of animal fur, so that almost the entire interior is coated in them. Jugs and mugs of ale vary in size, and thereby, the amount you get for your money varies as well. This is the cause of many bar fights, as well as cheers of success when someone is handed an unusually large mug. Thus, it is typical for frequenters of the pub to be saved the larger pitchers while newcomers often receive the smallest, and one can gauge the importance of a member of the bar and the frequency with which they visit by the size of their mug. While the bar is a presence many Vantha resent, it is a beloved spot of the fisherman and hunters alike. As these are the lifeblood of the Vantha, it is tolerated disapprovingly by the majority of the Vantha populace. Furthermore, it is the only place the teenage Vantha can get drunk away from the eyes of local gossips. The fishermen and hunters mind their own business so long as the children show no disrespect. The focal point of debauchery there are two rooms in the back that can be rented... by the hour. These rooms were once lovely but since have fell into disrepair as broken objects are removed instead of replaced. There is a bed in each made of sturdy pine with light woven blankets instead of furs as well as a bucket of water in the corner of each for washing up. The workers replace these between rentals... usually. The barmaids are usually well-endowed teenage girls who come and go as they please and are paid based on the number of drinks they sell. Sometimes there are dozens of barmaids ready and willing to fetch drinks and refill the buckets of water, while other days are sparse. The only person present every day is the owner, Fellodius. Fellodius :
Name: Fellodius Race: Vantha Date of Birth: 4th Fall 468 AV Place of Birth: Avanthal Title/Occupation: Owner Skills: Architecture 20 Musical Instrument: Guitar 20 Carpentry 20 Animal Husbandry 20 Intimidation 60 Wrestling 30 Personality/History: Fellodius is a frugal boss. He often tries to cheat his barmaids out of wages if they can't calculate their own earnings and only invests money in the pub when he is forced to. One of the longest standing bars, it used to have repute, but as money ran low and Fellodius is no businessman, the bar fell apart, replaced by other bars that catered to higher class clientele. Fellodius has been married into every hold and either divorced or widowed. Now he doesn't recognize any hold as his home and instead sleeps in one of the rooms in the back of the bar. He keeps all his skills hidden as they were acquired within the various holds. Jobs and Services :
