Standing at 5’11”, 170 lbs. Roy Kingsfield was incredibly athletic. Blue, penetrating eyes were the first thing a person would notice. Fiery coals seemed to burn from within them. He kept his hair closely trimmed to his head but a five o’clock shadow could usually be seen covering his jaw line. His face was set in a permanent scowl, warding off those who many think of approaching. He could be found spending most of his time on the streets getting into fights. He had gained stamina, the ability to take a hit and the scars to prove it. When he wasn’t fighting, he spent a majority of his time increasing his agility. He worked hard to combine his acrobatic skills and unarmed combat into a seamless art. But it was only the beginning, he had a long ways to go.
Character Concept
Roy Kingsfield was one of the few fortunate youth whom fate allowed to have a family. A loving mother and a caring father, both did their best to raise him to have a strong ethical code and that would far surpassed the locals of Sunberth. Roy did his best to bury the moral compass deep within himself. He did his best to push his parents away and the simple lives they lived. He wanted more, but he felt they had nothing left to offer him. Having no way of leaving but having nowhere else to go, his escape was to the streets where he took his anger and unleashed it on whoever as much as looked at him wrong. Fighting became his life, he didn’t care whom it was or what it was about, he just had to unleash the anger or it felt as if it would destroy him. His life had no purpose, all he felt was a void. A void he would do anything to fill…
Character History
Roy Kingsfield had lived his entire life amidst the dangerous streets of Sunberth. Unlike most children however, Roy was privileged enough to live in a small home with his two parents in the slums. His father, Jeffery Kingsfield, was a simple candle maker, doing his best to keep the family afloat. Before him, Jeffery's father had been a candle maker and had passed the trade down through the family. Jeffery was drastically different from that of the rest of the town. He was quiet, humble, minded his own business and had never broken the law. Those who knew him, had a deep, profound respect for him even if they mocked him behind his back.
His mother, Alice Kingsfield, was much the same as her husband. She was a quite woman who took joy in her work as a seamstress. There was always a cheerfulness about her that drew people in. Both parents took pride in their work. Living in the slums of Sunberth, however, did not bring in much of an income. They made just enough to get by. If anyone deserved a second chance to live far from the corruption of Sunberth and live in a peaceful city, it was them. But fortune was not with them and they would forever be trapped in the City of Thieves.
Roy Kingsfield, on the other hand, was a completely different story. He was not content, idling around, wasting time with his parent’s professions. It took everything inside of him to come back to his home every night. He frequently grew angry at his parents for being content with what they had. Over the years he grew more and more rebellious as the resentment grew stronger and stronger. He knew there was more to be had than living a life as a simple candle maker.
His father did everything he could to try and get him interested in his profession, but Roy adamantly refused. Roy escaped his home whenever he could, away from the frustrating parents that seemed content wasting away their lives. He lived for the rush of adrenaline, the challenge of taking on things bigger than himself. That’s what got him into so much trouble. The anger that simmered just below sight, was quick to explode. Roy came home every night, bleeding and bruised from fights that he always found himself in because of his temper.
From a young age, his father planted a strong moral compass in the boy. His father knew if Roy was going to be different from the rest of the criminals in Sunberth, he needed to be their morals and live by a higher standard. But as Roy got older and the anger towards his parents grew, he tried his best to repress that compass and bury it deep within until it seemed as if it had disappeared.
