The woman was quick to reciprocate another apology right after he'd brought the sword back to her. And of course the small kiss, on any other day Raien would have been left speechless and most likely babbling. Needless to say, this was not any other day. There was an unspoken understanding there, he didn't know exactly what it was, but it was there keeping him from taking the kiss as anything more than what it was.
That still didn't mean he said anything back.. He was having a moment when all words seemed to elude him. He simply watched as the woman carefully cradled the blade. He didn't dare ask who Landon really was.. He knew already that it was her husband's, and he had no right to inquire about anything else. Even if he was curious.
She cradled it continuously for a while before strapping it back to her waist. She probably didn't care where it was as long as she had it with her,
this though brought yet more shame upon him, even if the woman had absolved him of any and all of it.
It was within his own thoughts that he remained dreadfully silent even throughout the entire meal, doing his best not to make the woman think he was starring as they ate. Words evaded him completely now, it seemed as if the same were somewhat true for the woman as well. She only deigned to speak again when she was excusing herself. Following up with an offer for a rematch. It was as she looked down that Raien closed the gap between them somewhat, and put an apprehensive hand on her shoulder, accent laced words falling from his tired mouth.
"And you shall have one, I promise." A solemn smile accompanied these words. He would indeed grant her a rematch one day or the next. It was strange how much your opinion of a stranger could change in such a short amount of time. And Raien found himself longing to know more about this woman, yes indeed he would make sure he saw her again soon.
As she retreated to her tent, Raien was left alone. He couldn't stay, her offer was more of a courtesy than anything he was sure. And it was with this that he set off to the not so distant walls of Lhavit. Only glancing back occasionally as he heard the soft sobs emanating from the tent. But even these faded away as the distance between the two grew greater until there were no sounds left to accompany Raien save those that came from the night itself. It was at this time that he looked back on the day, he would most certainly return soon.
