Lysa stopped for a break and sat underneath the shade of a tree. As she closed her eyes, she took a deep breath and sucked in the fresh air. It was stupid how she could get lost from where she had been a few minutes before. She barely recognised the place she was in and she was almost sure her game might not be that fresh anymore. The snow cloaked ground was hardly welcomed in the cartographic puzzle of where she should go. Opening her eyes, she leaned forwards and drew a map on the ground. Frowning in concentration as she tried to draw the places of where she had went, she recalled entering the forest straight and then making a left turn... or something like that.
Continuing to attempt mapping out her route for a few more minutes, she growled in frustration before sweeping out the snow in one smooth move. "WHY?" she shouted out loud, most likely scaring all the game away. Clenching her fists by her side, she glared furiously at the ground. Oh if only looks could kill. Feeling the need to vent out some of her frustration, she formed a pool of res in her palm and created air. Facing her palm outwards, she forcibly pushed the air upwards and sent a breeze in that direction causing a few branches to move enabling her to see the white grey sky for a few seconds.
Still standing there with her random transmutions flickering about her, she continued staring up at the empty branches. The branches were so brittle and thin up at their height. It was impossible for her to not to feel inclined to carve this moment in the woods. In all honesty, she was thinking that her entire situation was slightly ironic. Usually she only carved happy moments she wanted to keep, not frustrating or venting out anger moments; they weren't particularly desirable in her opinion.
Tearing her gaze away from the branches, she sat down and checked her game. At least it was still in tact. Deciding to give finding her way out a rest, she took out her piece of wood before realising she had nothing to carve out on to it. Changing her sitting position to a kneel, she put her hands in the freezing snow and searched about. Bumping into something that felt like wood, she breathed her thanks to the gods and picked it up. That would make do for carving she believed.
Taking out her razor, she scraped against the wood until it looked sharp enough to carve on to wood. She guessed she could have used a razor to carve but she preferred using directly natural things on other directly natural things i.e. wood against wood. Picking up the piece of wood, she grimaced slightly as she felt herself gain a splinter. Wincing as she pulled the wood out from under her skin, careful that she didn't damage herself any further, she flicked it away and returned her attention to carving.
Putting the sharp wood against the other piece, she began to make an indentation. Carving out a line, she repeated the lines until they made a crisscross pattern. Creating more lines, she placed more little lines onto the dry wood before they made a pattern much akin to the sight she saw a few minutes ago. Once she was finished, she held the piece of wood back satisfied with the results she had made for the time she spent on it.
Not quite remembering she was lost and in an unfamiliar forest, she smiled and leaned back into the tree letting the cold wash over her. Sitting that way for a while, she began to doze off before a bird tweeting reminded her that indeed she was in a forest. Snapping her eyes awake, she cursed herself and jumped immediately in her feet. A clear image in her head, she picked up her game and scanned her surroundings. It was nearly sunset. She could tell from the light source.
Deciding that there was no more time to dilly dally, she walked right, hoping that was where she had come from. Once she confirmed that she did not know where she was in a snowy surroundings, she began looking for a tree that she could climb without possibly falling off. Finding one that looked relatively easy to climb, she set about putting her belongings and game in a safe place before looking where to start.
Putting her palms on the rough bark of the tree, she dug her fingers and nails in a secure position before hoisting herself up and placing her feet safely on the bark. Continuing this process, she climbed as far up as she could before looking around, hoping that maybe, just maybe, she could see where the city was.
Unfortunately, all she saw were more branches and more leaves. Sighing ungratefully at the sight, she spied a taller tree that she could probably jump to with relative ease. Clinging tihgtly with one hand against the tree she was currently on, she reached out to judge the distance with another one. Once she determined that she could jump it safely, she prepared to jump, lifting her feet of her current branch. Feeling the panic of not holding on to something begin in the second she was air-born. She immediately grabbed the trunk of the next tree and slightly slipped. Thankfully, she had managed to secure her position.
Taking deep breaths, she began to maneuver her way up the tree until she could see the city. The panic that had been building up little by little on the way up as the branches got thinner were definitely showing. Hands trembling as she settled nervously on her branch afraid that it might give way, she only caught a glimpse of the city before beginning to hear a noise causing her to jump. Bad mistake.
Frantically remembering the general direction of where she saw the noise, she began to scurry as quickly as she could down the tree, missing a few foot and hand holds on the way down. Screaming slightly as she slid the next 2 or 3 metres down, she landed on the snow with a heavy thump. Shocked, she picked up her things before numbly checking herself over to make sure she wasn't hurt and walking in the general direction of the city before she forgot.
Feeling relieved as she finally entered the city, she made her way into the Butcher Shop handing in her game to Kyole before walking out again and letting herself relax. She guessed her first day hunting hadn't been that bad unlike some others she could very well remember.
