2nd Fall 511
Garbage was everywhere. Well, more than usual. Darik walked through the rat infested streets towards a looming white building, The Establishment. Once he reached the entrance he shook his feet to try to clear some debris from it. Only half of the garbage dispersed, but its better than none. When he walked in, he was immediately hit with nostalgia. He had been here before looking for a job. He had chosen one at Killroy’s and it was the perfect choice. Now let’s hope he would make another good decision.

He had come because he had heard rumors. No not mysteries or things of that sorts, but of bounties. Bounties that rewarded you with heaps of money. Darik had more money than he ust to, but you can never have enough! Now if only he could find the bounties. There was no specific “bounty board” so he wasn’t sure they were even there. Till he say a notice for a person called Crow. Seeing that, he realized that the bounties were mixed in with the regular notices. He surveyed every single piece of notice looking for all possible bounties. He came out with three options, Raven, Crow, and Goldfinger.

One hundred eighty, two hundred, and three hundred twenty were their amounts respectively. The amount was probably based on how dangerous they were. So Raven was the least dangerous and Goldfinger was the most dangerous. Darik was quite confident of his ability so he choose Goldfinger. Why didn’t he pick up all three notices? Then he would get attacked by both sides. Better to take one side then take both sides at the same time. He could always kill Crow and Raven later.

He singled out Tua at the clerk desks, he had seen him before and still remembered his face. On the way he picked up a random notice and placed it on top of the bounty. He doubted it would fool Tua, but he figured a professional like Tua would know when to keep quite. Though he would probably charge him extra, but ohh well, Darik had money to spare.

”Hay, I would like instruction too—“ Darik hadn’t even looked at the notice he had picked up! After a quick look he was back in the cool. “Borus Aleman. I heard that he needs a night guide guy for his stall.” Dark hoped he sound convincing.

Postby Zandelia on September 26th, 2011, 1:09 pm

Fall 14th, AV 511

Zandelia’s purse strings were now well and truly becoming lax, though not through spoilt opulence but due to the fact that she had nothing to put in the damned money pouch in the first place. She had tried anything and everything to gain enough mizas to fund her life and lifestyle – admittedly a little more luxurious than many had in Sunberth – but to no avail. Information was tight, leading her to think that something dire indeed was brewing on the horizon, though she was in the dark as to exactly what that might be. No syndicate would accept her, not that she had met at any rate. On top of that she had not had a particularly positive start to the fall season, what with getting hit by a chair in a dark alley and being dragged into a brawl or two.

And so I find myself here, with the up and coming new prostitutes, the hired killers and that bastard Tua, who will no doubt take what little coin I have left just to get a little information for a possible job she thought to herself as she shoved through the throng to look upon what was tacked up and available.

She could not blame Tua though, she would probably do much the same in his position. Her only bitter regret was that he had a monopoly on such an enterprise and to the extent that those who tried to imitate for their own gain had a tendency to be found floating by a sailor down in the docks. Usually with a few holes in them at that, too. Zandelia was smarter than to think she could imitate, but as her eye scanned the grimy pieces of parchment she saw a way to, perhaps, profit by it in another way altogether.

“It seems than even you need more help than you have sometimes Tua” she muttered to herself as she ripped the advertisement from the boards with a swift pull and retreated from the crowd of fellow job seekers and towards the infamous desk where gold was conjured from nothing but thin air and words.

The smell of stale sweat and testosterone was palpable, infecting her nostrils with an aroma akin to one found upon a day-old corpse. She was not fearful for her safety, not when there were hired thugs scattered around for the express purpose of keeping the ‘peace’ of The Establishment, by any means necessary. However that did not mean she particularly enjoyed rubbing past the sweat stained bodies of hopefuls. When she finally made it to the clear space around Tua, two goons flanking either side of him, she took a deep breath to clear her nose somewhat.

“So Tua, I hear you’re looking for help with some duties,” she opened with, as there was no sense skirting around the subject, “I can do whatever you need. So long as whatever you need that gets done comes with mizas attached. Besides, I always thought this place could use a woman’s touch” she finished as she carefully placed the advertisement for the job he had advertised before him so he could take it.

Word Runner Wanted the paper was titled, and she assumed he knew the wording exactly to the letter too and as such nothing more would need to be said.

She smiled slightly, only the corners of her lips upturned as she looked him in the eye and waited for him to ruminate upon the situation.

@Zandelia

Tua, always a pleasant man looked at Zandelia with a keen eye. Appraising her like a prized horse or some other item of value. Finally his two eyes stared into her one, "You know... being a runner for me is not without it's dangers and benefits. You tend to go certain places, often times with no clue of what you are doing. Other times you will sit, in the back of the shop, bored out of your mind or helping the guards I have track down those who owe me reimbursement for their time. I think perhaps before you take the plunge I should see if you can handle it...

A small smile graced his features as he reached into his coat pocket and withdrew a large black envelope. On the back the envelope was sealed with a wax seal bearing the letters of his name T.u.A while on the front a small white placard bore a name and an address.

Smiling to Zandelia, he stood up and walked around the counter to take Zandelia by the crook of her elbow to lead her outside to sunberth's streets... with both of them followed by a select group of guards in his employ.

@ Darik

It was eerie how every time Darik glanced at Tua, he found the man with his smooth smile watching him. Was it the way Darik was moving that exposed him? Perhaps. Tua was a man sources though, he just knew things. Sometimes it seemed his means were even supernatural. Never the less, Tua said nothing to expose Darik to anybody else in the room, even the bodyguards that eyes Darik with mild suspicion hadn't a clue of what was going on.

Tua grinned. "Yes, Aleman. He's a very wealthy man. His rewards for the job well done is typically very handsome. For such a great find, I would require ten percent of the reward. You know, the typical rules. Otherwise Aleman might find out you aren't trustworthy." Of course, this shadowy talk meant, pay me thirty-two gold mizas, else your name might be brought up dangerously close to the Gated Community, and somebody with an acute description of your face might spill their guts.

"To defend such a wealthy merchant though, that's a dangerous job. Very dangerous. There are people who want him dead. And such people have many strong guards. I'm not sure you are up for such a task, sir. Maybe if you had some friends to give you a hand..."
Bad News Everybody. School is picking up, Exams are beginning to happen, homework is growing time consuming, I may soon be evicted from my apartment, I'm dealing with severe and physical fights among several of my best friends, and I can't seem to find a time to get much needed sleep. I'm terribly sorry, but don't expect to see much of me for a long while.

It was hard to tell if Tua was being threatening or friendly. He had perfected this art to such a point that it was indistinguishable to an amateur like Darik. Knowing Tua’s resources he figured Tua was bluntly threatening him. When Tua mentioned the ten percent, Darik almost tried to bargain with him. Then he realized that ten percent of 320 mizas still leaves ninety percent left. Better not hamper his chances by throwing useless words with a man that can’t be convinced.

“Ten percent now or after because I would be feeling much more generous after everything good happens. But then again I see this is a risk so, your choice. He had thrown the ball into Tua’s court. In reality he only had fifteen mizas on him. They were all in his knife. If Tua needed the thirty two mizas right now he would have to go back and get them. How awkward would that be? Let’s just hope he would agree to him paying after the coup.

When Tua mentioned about the many strong guards he knew were this conversation was going. ”Well I have friends, but some are better than others.” He wasn’t sure if Tua got the hint he needed some “friends”. The friends were most likely going to be hired thugs if Tua got the hint. Hired thugs come with many problems though, and Darik needed those cleared up. ”But I like my friends very trustworthy in case any sticky situations come up. Also I pay well for loyalty.” Now Darik was just laying on the obvious, layer after layer. Did he consider Tua stupid? No, he just wanted to get the point across he would like guards and he would pay for them. Even though guards come with their own complications, but that can be worked out later.

Tua chuckled and shook his head. "For a friend, I would gladly wait until Aleman pays you. I know money can be tight. And we both know that you will pay your debts. I'm a good man when I can be." And with that, Tua looked at either guard that stood next to the entrance, they got the message. Darik was good to go, despite not paying.

It was obvious though, Darik owed Tua his money now. He had the job, and whether he succeeded or not, Tua would be paid. It was dangerous to try and weasel your way out of Tua's debt too.

Darik, knowing his fate was sealed, nodded. Though he wondered how if he died on the mission Tua would get his money. Ohh well, if he died, and that is if, he wouldn’t be around to find out. After giving a little wave to Tua he walked out of the establishment with both of the slips of paper in his hand. Now he needed to find some associates to help him. Those would come naturally of course, Darik was quite the charmastic fella.

[Location] The Establishment

Postby Khulra on October 3rd, 2011, 1:05 am

The large blue man stood out from the crowd inside The Establishment's lobby like a giraffe in Avanthal, not that he minded though. He couldn't care less about what people thought of him, except those that can be of use to him in one way or another. Before he had made his way through he had glanced around the room and saw that there were several categories the people here could be categorized in.

Vermin.
Guards.
Workers.

And then there was one man who stood out, not by his stature but by his clothing. Khulra had done his homework before coming here, apparently the main man of this enterprise was a short man in a white attire and brown headwear.

After browsing the job opportunities for a while, he found a rather appropriate job possibility for him.

With the parchment in hand, he walked over towards Tua. Thinking that this man would rather get right down to profitable business than meaningless chit-chat, Khulra did just that.

" I want this job. What does it take? "

Argueably not the best way of approaching a businessman, by declaring your interest in something you lose ground in the bartering battle, but Khulra wasn't a business man.

@ Khulra

Tua, seeing that his new, massive, blue customer was wanting nothing more than to get straight to business, merely nodded. "Yes, you do. And if you want it, I need to be four golden mizas richer." The dark skinned human gazed up at the Akalak, unintimidated by his size or rough visage. Tua knew, as most people did, that power in Sunberth wasn't about how much you would lift or how hard you could punch. It was how many connections you had, and who would kill for you without spilling your name.

Assuming the Akalak paid the four gold miza charge for Tua's services, he would motion to a boy who was lounging on a rickety old chair in the back of the room, who would slip out of the room in a hurry. He was a word runner for Tua, and they were paid to beat the customers to the clients. "I have a client, a merchant you see. His name is Meerson. He is known for coming into Sunberth once a year with the most exotic of glassware and other Inartan-styled crafts. He has brought an extra large ship this year to make up for his absence last year, 'five-ten', yet there's an even larger number of competition this year thinking his business is gone for good. Let's just say, his return isn't welcomed by everyone, merchants particularly. He needs someone who can protect him, but he also has a few extra jobs that he himself can fill you in on."

And, of course, if Khulra didn't pay the money, this information was never heard, the word runner was never sent, and Khulra wouldn't get his job.

OOCIf you want this job, you'll have to have a modded thread by me. It'll be short and sweet and mainly to explain what you'll earn as a seasonal wage and what sort of work your PC will do.

Khulra merely stared at the shortpostured man as he spoke. He wasn't surprised nor annoyed by the fact that this man wanted a "voluntary" reward for being a middleman between Khulra and the merchant. Khulra made sure to rememer the important information:

- He'll work for a merchant named Meerson
- The merchant has high quality and valuable goods
- He'll have to protect him, and take out the competition maybe.
- If the merchant ends up dead, he'll have to make sure to "safekeep" his merchandise.

Khulra smiled at Tua, and showed him the 4 Gold Miza in the palm of his blue hand before donating it to the short man.

" Where can I find this Meerson? "
