Coastal Friendship

The sound of the ocean roared through the air as the wind felt powerful enough to tear through Ricky’s clothing, which is if he were actually wearing much of any considering he was just about naked save for his drawers that he wore. Both he and Natalie slightly shivered at the chill the cool air held when the strong wind blew up the somewhat high cliff they stood on, a clear spot to jump in below when one looked down at the incredible view. Much of the time the two had spent together was done “living their last day” as Ricky had come to refer it to, since Natalie had managed to live as long as she has with her fragile health. Although he didn’t know what exactly the cause of her sickness was as she hardly talked about it, he’d only come to learn it involved a weaker heart or something of the sort. The fact she had a frail heart made him wonder how she could even do the things she did, because Natalie didn’t let anything slow her down when it came to life. She was passionate to live while she could and she’d definitely made an impact on Ricky in doing so, ever since that day where he finally took that plunge with her he’s found his self a bit more confident.
They had been pretty great friends too even though they tend to argue a lot, off and on they would seem to get angry with one another over even the simplest of misunderstandings. Yet he found himself unable to be mad at her for long, and most of the time found a way to make it up to her. Today though they were going to take a major jump into the ocean below, where their clothes waited on the rocks near the shore once their swim was over. Ricky gave a smirk to Natalie as he watched her fiddle with a bracelet made out of sea shells, likely from the day they went diving along with some new ones collected before summer ended. She’d spent a while crafting the bracelet but never really shared for what purpose, that is until they’d reached the top of the jump off they were about to make. "So it took me a little while but I finished this for you." She articulated upon her approach to him, a bit of a blush on her cheeks as she slipped the bracelet onto his left wrist.
He didn’t need to look at it to admire the fact she’d made it for him, he’d seen it plenty of times to memorize it upon creation. The fact he wore it know as a gift from her though brought a smile to his lips, blue eyes focused down on hers as they started to lean in close. She fell into a loss as she stared into the deep blue hues they carried and he smiled as he brought her close to him with an arm, a bit of a mischievous idea in mind as he scooped her into her arms playfully. He couldn’t help but laugh when she shrieked for a moment out of surprise, as she was now caught in his arms and held up for the whole of the world to see. "Yer on top o’ de world now!" He teased as she flailed her legs a little, both laughed as she tried to keep from pulling him over the edge with her weight. Of course he didn’t think she would, since she was so light to where he could carry her with one shoulder. Still he didn’t want to scare her, so he made sure there wouldn’t be any accidents like dropping her.
"Okay! Okay." She cried out as she calmed down a bit, a majestic look about her as the wind fluttered her hair. "I’m your fair maiden Ricky Maze, never let me go for I cannot hope to be without you." She recited a quote from the legend of the Black Lady which made him smile, and then ease her down to the tips of her feet as he held her close. His heart raced as it wanted to jump out of his chest, a sudden rise in breath intake as his stomach started to roll a little. She was close to him now, close enough to where they shared the same air practically, yet he couldn’t force himself to go any further for some reason. Why? Why couldn’t he do it? "You soooo reek of fish." She teased as with a giggle as she eased out of his grasp and onto her two feet, for a moment Ricky could only laugh as he admired the amount of skin he could see. Though they’d only stripped to their undergarments before their climb, he couldn’t help but watch her when he could and take in every ounce of her he could.
"Come on," She cocked her head over to the edge as she stepped close to it, a hand held out for him to take as they would jump together, "unless you’re chicken shyke."
"Psh, in yer dreams." He said with a chuckle, although he couldn’t really hide the fact this did make him nervous. He’d never really jumped from a place this high before, so of course the nerves would make him jittery before the rush would come. Still he took her hand in confidence and thought to himself, "Toget’er we face dis, face de immensity." He reiterated in his mind like so many times before, as they somehow made him feel braver with each thought. He looked to Natalie with a grin as she watched him amused, and the both stared down into the water below as they started their countdown together.
One… Two… Three.
Both vaulted off the edge together and Ricky’s stomach not only twisted but lurched, the sudden loss of ground a surprise to his balance as both he and Natalie descended to the water below. He felt the need to scream as did Natalie so they both filled the air with shrieks as he felt his body as a whole continue a rapid descent that ended with a sudden splash into the ocean. First their legs were wrapped and enveloped at it took only a mere tick for the rest of their bodies to follow, the mass of the ocean served as their blanket or cushion from the jump. As they plunged further into the water Ricky felt cold all around him, the sort of cold that suddenly woke the body up and at the same time refreshed the spirit. They were both out of breath from their screams so they had to resurface immediately, but the feel of the air hitting their face in doing so never felt so amazing in all of Ricky’s life. With the rush still fresh on his mind Ricky looked up to the cliff once more and felt a sense of accomplishment about himself, amazed that he’d taken such a huge jump with a close friend that’d meant so much to him.
