Age: 19 (16th Spring 494)
Birthplace: Sylaris
Current Location: Riverfall
Language(s): Common (Fluent)

Appearance

Contradicting to her height of 5'10, Grace has a somewhat petite build. She is wiry and thin but muscular. Her body is accustomed to lugging around various things for the barn such as hay bales or feed sacks, and handling full-grown horses. She keeps her straight brown hair cut a little past her shoulders with bangs just above her eyebrows, this way it doesn't get in her face when she is working. Her face never seems lacks emotion, whether its a childish grin, a mischievous wink or a twisted glare, anyone could the emotions right off her face with little problem. She has got a few scars and callouses cover her hands, having worked in barns most of her life. Because Grace spend most of her time working or in-between various duties, she is commonly in sturdy trousers and a loose shirt. Grace still holds onto her feminine nature, making sure her hair is nice in the morning and applying some cosmetics some days. On her free time you will find her in a flowing dress or skirt with a dainty pair of shoes, but these times are rare.

Grace Lechar (WIP)

Postby Grace Lechar on March 1st, 2014, 2:20 am

Concept
Grace is seen as persistent, purposeful and very affectionate. She has a daring streak which is coupled with an exciting perception on life. Grace is usually helpful in nature with a practical approach to life. This isn't to be confused with weak-willed because even though Grace is adept to connecting with others emotionally she may be somewhat lacking in sensitivity. She tends to dislike burdening others with her problems and generally keep anxieties hidden. This isn't much of a feet for her because her reckless attitude tends to keep her form thinking twice. Grace works hard but generally knows how to balance job responsibilities proportionately with time spent for herself. Managing money and sensible spending is something she finds easy so it is unusual for her to encounter finance issues.

Grace is a strong believer in equal give and take within any type of relationship (e.g. Lovers, Friends, Business, Rivalries -- every type of relationship). Her requirement for emotional and material security causes her to be big on compromise and sharing. The presumed sweet gentle temperament Grace is seen as having at first, can be a tad moodier than she initially comes across as. In fact she often comes across as rude, preferring say what comes to mind it. A touch oversensitive Grace is prone to forgive but not so eager to forget. Because Grace tends to be rude, her sensitivity comes from her actions. No matter how rude she can come across as you have to remember actions speak louder than words, especially around Grace. Words mean almost nothing to Grace until she sees someone live up to them, which is probably why she doesn't watch her own mouth.

Illness is usually quite rare due to Grace's careful observation of bodily needs. She needs to be healthy herself in order to take care of others. As well as taking good care of herself she is remarkably observant about others needs, which draws her to training and taking care of horses. Expressions of love and respect are particularly important to Grace, because she can tell how much someone likes her by what they do to and around her, less by what they say. Grace needs to consider confiding more fully in others about her worries as it could be beneficial to mental health and help get rid of her constant stress, but she's not quite there yet. Her main strengths of character are shown in the crazy combination of persistence, recklessness and perceptiveness she has. But her flaws are less defined, she's uncomfortably blunt, somewhat rude and is definitely known for her risky behavior. One very recognizable personality weaknesses for Grace is her proneness to get into things she shouldn't be. Moodiness is an additional flaw that seems closely linked to how happy or unhappy Grace tends to be.

Grace will normally attach a lot of importance to helping others in a way she sees fit. This seriousness counteracts her semi-egotistical stance guiding her to try, maybe a little too hard, for others. When Grace sets her mind to do something, its rare that she won't do anything to get it done. Often this drive is focused on horses rather than people, so her rude nature will often prevail her generosity. Grace is inclined to yearn for stability and continuance in all areas of her life, though some of those dreams may feature some rather unrealistic wishes. When she tries, Grace is able to make close relationships is remarkably easily. Her sense of purpose help motivate her in favorable directions, but her reckless nature often keeps that from happening. If Grace is able to accept her insecurities she would be able to make better decisions, but that is yet another problem that Grace can't seem to fix, or doesn't want to.

History
Grace grew up in the Nettle District in Syliras. Her father was a Blacksmith and her mother a Seamstress. Her childhood was unremarkable, though Grace would disagree, the common arguments with her family nearly consumed her childhood. Her brother was a squire at a young age and she was always expected to do something noble with her life as well. For the longest time, Grace was rebellious. She kept her hair short and hung out with the older boys, convinced she wanted to live a sailor's life. Her parent's didn't want her to have a dangerous life, they wanted to keep her safe with a woman's Virtue, but they couldn't seem to tame her.

When Grace was sixteen her parent's urged her to start a profession, telling her the sooner she started the more successful she would be. Their prime example was her brother, the Knight who started when he was just eleven. The very first place she went was to the trade ships at the docks. But the Svefra wouldn't take her with them, and the ship Captains wouldn't either. Upset and angry Grace shoved all thoughts of becoming a Sailor out of her mind. She wanted to prove her parents wrong, she wanted them to see her excel at something. So she looked around the city looking for a profession she was interested in. One that didn't involve her being indoors all day like her parents'. That was the first time she'd ever visited the Stables. She hadn't expected it to be a long trip, just a curious peek here and there. The horses immediately caught her eye. She was afraid of them at first, not touching the beasts, liking that they were locked up in their stables away form her. But as she spent more time there, she grew to love the horses more, seeing them less as a threat and more of a passion. Nearly a week after her first visit, she asked for an apprenticeship. They said no.

That didn't stop Grace, not like it did with sailing. She continued to hang around the barn for weeks, unofficially helping out when she could, learning how to handle the horses from the grooms. Again, she asked the Stable Master to learn about training the horses. Again, she said no. But this time, The Stable Master offered Grace another deal. She said grace could be hired as a groom. After Grace could show how she was with simply handling horses, she could learn to train them. And so Grace did. Until she was almost eighteen Grace spent her wages of being a groom on learning to ride. She wanted to be competent on the horse as well as off. All thoughts of making a profit were out of her mind as she pursued her new passion. One day, a few weeks after her eighteenth birthday, she approached the Stable Master again. She had the same request, she wanted to learn to train horses. She was told yes, she could apprentice the Horse Trainer. And for the next year her life was fairly calm and uneventful. Her father became worried about how she was almost never at home, so be bought a personal guard dog for her. Her usual stand-off with her parents was clam and they got along relatively well. She didn't care so much how she compared to her brother and she spent nearly every day, rain or shine, at the stables. She wasn't wrapped in the constant drama her family produced and her life was good. But her parents had one more expectation before she turned twenty. They wanted her to start a family, her brother had already done so.

Grace had never thought of the prospect before. She was young and so she still had hormones. She flirted with the boys at the stables, she sometimes risked a kiss behind the hay barn. But Grace had never truly thought about going further, not sex, not marriage, not anything. Grace was very focused on her work. She didn't have the time for a proper courtship, let alone a husband and children. After a few days of thinking about it, Grace decided she would tell her parents no when she got home. She thought she would come to love a family in her life but not this young, not yet. So Grace took off from the Stables early, intending to make it to family supper that she was never really on time for. But this time something was different. Dinner was held back, just for her, and there was a guest. A young leatherworker, that Grace knew well. When the barn needed knew tack such as bridles or saddles, she would usually be sent to his father for the orders.

Immediately Grace knew what her parents had discussed with the man. Her mother wanted her to stop working at the barn and marry him. Grace wanted none of it. She didn't need to react as violently as she did, yelling at her mother and father. She vowed she would never have a husband or kids, though that was in no way true. In her anger, Grace walked out, she had cursed and yelled at her parents, and she couldn't face them any longer. She had a fair amount of savings from working at the Stables, and she crashed at the barn the first night, falling asleep next to an old horse that no one owned and no one would buy. Grace then spent a few days at a tavern refusing to go home. Eventually she did though, returning one day after work and she expected her usual worried parents, ready to not mention ordeal again, at least for a little while. That was not what she got. Her father shut her out. He said she was too wild and she didn't have enough responsibility. Her mother said her brother was normal and why couldn't she be? Grace had rolled her eyes, convinced they were just overreacting, and that they couldn't stay angry at her. But they did, and her money was disappearing staying at the Tavern and so Grace made a decision She would leave, and start a new life somewhere else. She had heard of a City of illusion, where the houses moved and the streets could be lava one day and cobble the next. She heard of a City in the trees, ruled by intelligent monkeys that never died. She'd even heard of a City housed in a Volcano where there were not only giant eagles that the residents there could ride but talk to as well. All of these placed seemed make believe and over exaggerated, but Grace knew there was other cities out there. She would find someplace to start fresh, away from her parents, and work with horses as she wished. The idea scared her, she'd never moved before, the sanctuary that the Knights gave her city seemed the only safe place. And so she stayed a few more days attempting to make amends with her parents. But her money was depleting and they would have none of her. She needed to decide soon. Towards the middle of winter, at the worst time to travel, she quit her job. She went straight to the docks. A trade ship was loading its haul and Grace asked how much a ticket was. The captain looked her up and down, deciding her net worth. He asked how much money she had, but Grace knew to lie. The captain told her a ticket would be all her money, and Grace complied, only handing over what she'd said she had. She gave only a low number, saving a hefty amount mizas for herself. Grace knew she would have to find a place to live when she got where she was going, and she didn't know how much it would cost. So with her little possessions she managed to scrape form her home, and her loyal dog, Jeno, she boarded to boat. Grace didn't know where she was going but she was glad to be gone.

Heirloom
Grace's heirloom is a black male Akinva Deerstalker named Jeno. Jeno was trained to recognize threats against Grace or those around her. Otherwise he is nonthreatening and stays at her side constantly, rarely straying. He doesn't mess with the horses when Grace is at work. But, because Jeno is young he loves to play which usually involves jumping on someone and slobbering on their face upon first sight.
