General -
Name: Dordei D. Nick: D. Sex: Female Age: Twenty-two Race: Human Height: 5'6 Weight: 127 Lbs Birthdate: 492 AV - Fall 21st Current residence: Zeltiva (East Wing Dorms)
Physical Appearance -
Standing at a meager height and having been built with a lithe, frail frame, Dordei is more of a graceful figure than an intimidating one. She was gifted with silken black hair kept just long enough to be useful for hiding behind, and oftentimes can be found peering curiously from behind those thick locks with a pair of vibrant sapphire eyes. Having been born pale, it isn't unusual for her to be seen shying away, wrapped up in a thick, ebony robe she inherited from her mother. While it lacks any properties aside from its fine stitching, the edge is trimmed with a lovely golden lace and the cloak itself is fantastic for keeping out the cold.
Character History -
(Pre-Creation)
The earliest memory Dordei could call upon was her travels as a child. Her father was a merchant and a swordsman, a combination that was both useful and practically required when traversing the dangers of the wild. Her mother, a priestess, was deeply entrenched in magic, often harvesting the biological remnants from corpses and slain creatures that were hostile enough to attempt to attack their caravan. By turning the body parts of fallen foes into trinkets and charms by the dozen; ocassionally the larger pieces being metamorphasied into strange or unique weapons -- Dordei's mother was able to supply items sought after far and wide by both scholars and privateer's alike. As a result Dordei's early life was, while being varied and dangerous, a plentiful and well-supplied one. The caravan was always guarded with hired arms and the rest-stops in cities stretched from months to years due to the amount of money her parents were able to collect.
During her teenage years, when she had grown enough to comprehend both herself and the world around her a little bit further, Dordei was educated as to what sort of opportunities she had available to her. She could join her mother in the priesthood, or she could seek fulfilment elsewhere. Money was of no issue and the port-city of Zeltiva bore a very real educational facility that she could spend her time dwelling within. As a result of her own personal curiosity, and due to having been exposed to magical items at an early age, by her twelfth year of life, Dordei decided to relocate into the dormitories and begin her studies.
It was here she started upon a headway towards what would shape the rest of her natural life. Finding an early interest in history, she began to study what she could about the ancient language. Communication had always fascinated the girl, and the idea that something as simple as being unable to read the older, dustier, more interesting textbooks and scrolls irritated her. In no time at all she had a basic grasp of the dialect and made her way towards a practically carnivorous consumption of knowledge. History attracted her, yes, but it was mostly due to the stories history held. Stories of creatures and people both grand and powerful. Entities that evaded fathoming and concepts that spread their touch throughout the entire globe, and oftentimes beyond even her own world. And that was what truly intruiged her. The denizens far beyond her touch.
As the years passed and her craving for knowledge only spurned itself onwards, Dordei eventually stumbled upon a scroll that both confused and peaked her interest. It bore mention of an off-world creature that could eat and absorb soil, rock, wood, water, poisonous substances and even pieces of itself: an intelligent entity of pure hunger. Due to her limited understanding of the text's language, she wasn't able to glean whether or not the being was real, but regardless it had attracted the girl's attention, and in no time at all she began to fervently research the existence of other, similar beings. While she didn't find any other mention of stone-eating monsters, she did discover a topic that bore extreme interest to her.
Summoning.
The opening and closing of gateways to the beyond. Reaching worlds across the far reaches of Mizahar and ripping open whole sub-sections of the universe. The practical properties astounded and enveloped her. With reckless ambition and a morbid sense of curiosity, she began to prepare. She poured over enormous texts, studying practitioners of the art before her time and the precautions they took. In due time she would seek a guide, someone to truly walk her through the process, but until then she would seek arts that would assist her in her inquisitiveness. |
