Nilika pressed both her gloved hands down on the man’s wound as Tatsuwaa went to go get some string and a knife. The red haired man had passed out from the pain earlier. The only response that told that he was alive was his shallow breathing. There was a large cut across his stomach. From what his friends had told her when they came in; there was a bar fight at the Broken Casket and thankfully the Knights was there to break it apart. The man that was lying on the table was the unlucky one of the two. The other man was a short person with pre-mature balding. He had a long sword and cut the red head out of anger for stealing his beer. He was currently sitting in one of the lone chairs with a sprung leg as well as a maybe mild concussion to the head. Overall he was going to live, but the man that was lying down was a whole another question.

Another healer, named Coria, brought a wet cloth wash. Nilika urgently told Coria to press down on it to slow the bleeding. Wiping the blood, that surrounded the gash, away slowly from; she got a better sense on how deep and wide the wound was. It wasn’t deep but it was deep enough to leave a scar. The white cloth soon turned red from the ruby elixir that escaped through the cut. Why do we have to do this? This is a job for one of Rak'keli’s marked ones. It had to be cleaned first and foremost or else an infection will start.

Nilika rushed to the one of the drawers and pulled out a jar of clear water. She went to back to the patient and saw that the blood wasn’t coming out as fast. “Coria go get a new rag and blot it,” she instructed. Tatsuwaa came back with a towel, a roll of string, and a knife both hands. The ruby liquid started to stain Coria’s rag as the flow of the blood was stopping. “Nilika give me the water,” the elder in the room instructed. Nilika applied and watched her dapped the cloth into the jar of water. The black haired woman dapped at the wound gently as not to cause irritation to it any more.

The Konti moved away and watched the two works to clean the cut. She went to the balding man and asked for him to lean his head forward. Scanning his head and lightly rubbing her fingers across it, she found no evident appearance of a knot on his head. She instructed him to answer all of the general questions that she will ask.

“What’s your name?”

“Michael Leekinds”

“What’s to day?”

Michael stopped and rubbed his head as if he had to focus on that simply question. Nilika started at him and figured that he didn’t know the date. Giving a sigh, she said it would be best if he comes back in a day or two. “There’s a chance you might have a concussion. Just don’t fall asleep for at least 5 hours,” she finished before going to the more injured of the men.

Nilika dapped at his forehead as he sweats. The blood had finally stopped, so Tatsuwaa started to clean the wound. It was kind of puffy but overall the swell was going down and no sign of infection which was good. The teenager went to the other side of the table and started to blot the wound dry after it has been wetted. Movement out of the corner of her mind saw that the red headed man has woken up. Immediately his body tensed which wasn’t a good thing to do in this situation. The man tried to lift up and a pained grunt forced it way through his throat. His face was scrunched up in pain and he fell right back down. Luckily the wound didn’t bleed from the about of stress was put onto it.

“Go hold him down,” Tatsuwaa all but demanded. The teenager all but ran over to the top of the table to comply with what she said. She rested her hands on his shoulders and tried to push him down. He was struggling against her and tried to sit up again. “You’re okay. Please refrain from moving,” Nilika tried to reason with the man. But that became a lost effort, she leaned all her weight onto the man. Now that he was stilled, there’s the problem with undoing tensing his muscles to have him fully stitched.

Tatsuwaa rushed over and scooted Nilika out of the way. She was much stronger than the Konti, the elder whispered something into his ear and he visibly relaxed after that. “Nilika get the thread and run it through the hole of the needle. Then go from one side of the gash and to the other then knot and cut. Then repeat it,” she said. Nilika held the needle up to her face and focused on running the thread through the object. Once it was fully through the hole, she tied off the end and went to the nearest side of the gash. Slowly she pierced the skin with needle and ran it to the other side. The knot tapped the damaged skin ad she tied the knot on the other side. Picking up the knife, she cut the string and continued the process.

Run through the skin and knot; run through the skin and knot.

That chant continued on and on. It drilled itself to the depths of her developing brain. Almost half a bell has gone by during the careful procedure. After all, one crooked stitch could ruin the way the skin will heal or if contamination could begin. She cut the last bit of the thread and over looked her work. The gash was officially stitched and the skin was still puckered and red but was going to heal. Tatsuwaa leaned the man, who was now sleeping into a half sitting position to bandage him up. Nilika went to the cabinet and pulled out a roll of bandages. She started the bandage around his back then around his front. The wrapping continued twice, thee, and four times. She tied it off and the woman lied him back down. Looking him over, Nilika went to see about how Michael was doing.

He was leaned over in his chair with his blue cotton shirt raised up showing many bruises. Nilika let out a breath of relief as she saw he wasn’t sleep but was staring off into space. “Mr. Leekinds are you okay,” she asked as she squatted to look at the man’s bruises. They were still purple but had the appearance of speck of yellowish spots. The man snapped out of trance and looked the healer up and down then pulled his shirt down. “Yes I am. Thank you very,” he said with a snide comment afterwards as he straightens himself up right. Nilika grabbed his arm gently and moved his arm a little. “We just need to put your arm in a sling. Overall you are okay and you may leave after we but the sling on you,” she finished before heading over to a closet and brought out a large material.

Nilika folded the cloth into two and put his arm into the middle then tied the green clothe on the opposite shoulder of the injured arm. Tightening as hard as she could, Nilika allowed the man to stand and leave. He bowed his head in thanks and looked over at the man on the table. His breathing has finally slowed to a sleeping pace. His face was no longer red from stress but a pale white that showed he had lost a lot of blood. Then he left without a sound. She turned back and helped with assisting to the rest of the red haired man’s injuries. The lower part of his right arm was broken clean in two, light bruises around his arms and legs, and a dislocated left shoulder as well as a black eye.

She went to his right arm and steadied her hands on to each side of the two bones. With a quirk bust of movement, she snapped his bones back into ligament. Then she wrapped some of the bandage around the arm as she made sure to make his arm as straight as possible. Moving fast, she went to a sort of supplies closet and pulled out two long but small wood planks, also large piece of white cloth. On either side of him, she placed them; using the white cloth she tore it into long ways strips and tied a strip at a time under and across the splint. The continued till the after everything was smug and tight against the arm. Heading to the other side, Nilika examined the shoulder to see if there any cut or scrapes. The Konti placed both hands on his shoulder and pushed hard, fast to push it into its original spot. She let go and a sigh flew through her lips. Today was quite a stressful day. The man continued to sleep unknowing of what was happening in reality.
