Sometimes people are only skilled enough for half the job. The owner of The Bean Coffee Shop is such a man. Hargard 'Gard' Astram is a self proclaimed coffee & tea master connoisseur and in reality his skills and knowledge matches up to his boasting. Hargard's only problem is his lack of any and all social grace and skills. The success of The Bean's indirect rival, the Stormhold Salves, has been a hard hit to The Bean and it shows. The entire shop is in disrepair. The walls are cracking up and the single window to the outside is missing two of its four squares, the holes covered by a wooden plank from the inside. The sign of The Bean is long worn off and is illegible now.
Once you step inside The Bean, the reputation of the shop is restored for a short moment. It's cozy, perhaps even a little too busy, inside. Five small tables with four chairs each fill the tiny space of the shop, giving barely any room to walk between the tables. If one hugs the left wall it is possible to more or less walk from the door to the counter of the shop without bumping into any tables or chairs. The moment you get to the counter, however, the reputation of the shop is destroyed as Hargard opens his mouth.
On the counter stands a simple sign that says "Tea or Coffee?". The owner usually points at it when customers stop in front of the bar. More frequent customers know they can request whatever tea type or coffee blend they prefer and Hargard will have it. Almost all of coffee beans and tea leaves found in Sylira can be found in Hargard's shop including some exotic imported beans. Behind him, one two shelves, there are several jars of coffee beans and tea leaves used for both the making of coffee and tea or for selling per weight.
