Magic, such a frightning thing it was, it could dominate the minds of man, it could the elements to its will and it could allow a man to do the impossible....and it was the cruel master whom you don't want to anger. What Kreig knew of magic was rumours and hateful exagerration of the arts that had subjected them long ago, it was a justified hatred as well..... for other lands fear the arts of magic as well and Syliras was no exception to that.
On normal circumstances, Kreig would not dare dream of pursuing it, he hated magic as much as any good Sunberthian could but event's changed that. He disliked it but now tolerated it, that itself made him greatly afraid. There was an itch he couldn't explain however, one that wracked at his noggin and made him ache to a degree that nearly drove him mad. So there he stood as he watched a raven haired lass, swinging a single edged and slightly curved blade in a graceful and practiced drill. Compared to his own skill with his longsword, he imagined himself to be quite equal to her.... which is why held a wooden longsword in his hand.
He approached, slowly as to not disturb her practice with the blade. Once he was close enough he stopped and simply watched her train, her movements graceful yet aggressive... fluid and vabrant like a fire that couldn't be tame ' She really is a daughter of Sunberth And like him she was now part of Sunbirth's opposite. However, unlike him she embraced what Kreig feared.....
" What are you gawking at? Have I caught your eyes that much?" Came her voice suddenly, snapping Kreig out of a trance he didn't know he was in. He looked at her as she stared back at him, what seemed to be a scowl on her face but seemed to soften.
"Ah, forgive me miss. I didn't mean to disturb..."
" And yet here you are, disturbing me. Is there something you need?" Quite aggressive indeed, Kreig sighed internally as he gave her a look that was slightly challenging, as if saying ' I can give as good I get, lass. Don't test me'
" So that accent of yours, Sunberthian aren't you? Is that why you approached, the false belief that we were Kin?" Kreig looked at her silently, as if contemplating her answer but then giving her a simple shake of his head.
"We are both Squires, thats Kin enough for me...No, I was wondering if you'd like to spar?" He raised his longsword, tip pointed at her challengingly. She gave him a sigh, as if that were the stupidest thing she heard in a good while but then simply shrugged and nodded. She sheathed her Katana and placed it gently on the grassy earth and then picked up a wooden version of her blade and turned to Kreig, taking a simple combat position whilst Kreig did the same with his longsword.
Both blades were pointed towards the other, Kreig had longer reach however.... but that did not mean he could underestimate her, no, he would not allow himself to underestimate kin, not with this nagging itchgnawing at him. A grin crept up his face, he always loved a fight and what better way was there for Sunberthians to introduce each other? In that silent moment, a light gale of wind swept through the grounds, the grass swayed and once they stopped, Kreig launched himself forward, beginning the bout with an overhead strike, the lass blocked his blade with the flat of hers, feeling the full weight of Kreig's blow as she gazed into his eyes with a quistioning glance.
In response she pushed him and Kreig was all to glad to oblige as he jumped and both resumed their original stances.
" This isn't just about a spar is it...isn't it?"
Kreig stood silently for a bit, looked at her again with the most serious face in his life and then finally.....smiled
"No, it isn't" And then he launched forward.....
