Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Palla's Carvings

Palla's Carvings

Palla's carving shop is located in the bottom tier of the city. The shop itself is a small, stone building, with wood floors inside. A small sign outside states: 'Palla's Carvings-Riverfall's Only Source of Woodcarvings' The building is inconspicuous, but noticable enough to not blend into the background, to be just part of another stone building. Palla, the owner, keeps plants from growing in the stone walls, but the stone does not look immaculate. The building is very sturdy, however, and has no danger of collapsing except to the strongest forces.

The shop has a cozy feeling, small but open. The floor is made of wood, even if the material is not abundant in Riverfall. The walls are stone, same as on the outside, as Palla's shop is not very elaborate at all, not so that the walls would be tiled. All in all, the building serves its purpose. Nothing more, nothing less.

If one were to look through the back door of the shop, they would find a tiny room filled only with a table, a few chairs, and various stacks of wood and clay. Palla likes to keep it simple, so since the back room is never in the public eye, it is sparsely decorated, with little furniture. It is meant to be functional, not aesthetically pleasing. This is where Palla does all of her carvings.

The bowl and plate sets are functional and well made, but to a keen observer, small imperfections would be noticeable. Most of the bowls and plates have designs such as flowers or ivy carved into the edges, but Palla keeps at least one plain set on hand, for she knows not everyone will appreciate her personal touch. Should a customer want something different from what is readily available, Palla immediately starts working on the carving unless something prevents her from doing so, and gets the carving done as quickly as possible. She gives the customer a set date to come back to get the new carving, and she always has it done by then.

Palla carves many decorative pieces, flowers, animals, plate and bowl sets, and other things like blocks of wood with feathers carved into them. Examples of her skill line the walls, the ones she are most proud of at the front, and the lower quality ones at the back.
