17th of Spring, 514

It was Tydus' first venture outside of Riverfall's land boundaries since he had first been moored after the shipwreck. The Pod was finally able to breathe in relief, the ships that each Tempest needed acquired through means of varying intrigue, but what mattered was that a path was now open to the Pod. Each Svefra had a ship, bringing the fleet to a grand total of six casinor. There was much ahead, but the Tempest scion decided that for now, the Lia could manage her Pod alone. The Tempest himself had the desire to relax. He had asked around in the morning about what was the best place to do so, and while answers varied, the general consensus was that the Travertine Hot Springs was the place to go. Moreover, it was a free place to go.

The Svefra could smell the salty waters of the ocean mingling with that of the spring, the smell of precipitation and saline steam arise as the Tempest climbed the hill towards his destination. And now he could see the steam. It wafted from the aquatic pits much like smoke from a flame, rising into the air and subsequently dispersing. There was a consistent, measurable splashing of water against rocks as mass quantities of liquid fell from what seemed to be the sky itself, down and into beautiful bowls. Tydus marveled in the sight of it for quite a while, decidedly not entering the water and simply watching.

It then occurred to the young man that the steam was actually rising from the liquid water, the heat emanating from the surface with a weak shimmer, the Tempest arching his eyebrows in surprise before he muttered to himself, "Wait a minute... the WATER is hot?" His mouth was agape, the Svefra shaking his head in utter amazement. He had simply failed to connect the dots, the concept of hot water entirely foreign to him. He shook his head in distaste of his own stupidity before peeling the shirt from his shoulder, the garment rolling around his right shoulder in his own personal custom requiring common decency. The ruddy normals and Akalaks had this strange concept of clothing being a necessary thing rather than a source of protection, and the Svefra hated it. But, now, he was free.

The Tempest scion removed his sash, placing his flask on the rocky floor. The Tempest had left the cutlass that belonged to Lia Tatianna above his new vessel, The Tempest Wind. He wound the sash into a roll, placing it atop his tunic before carefully peeling the gloves from his hands. Worn and used to the rough surface of the ship and the occasional youngling shark, the gloves were in a faded, though usable condition, his sandals meeting similar wear at the hands of salt water, but now, they were discarded, put on the floor next to his tunic. His breeches were the next and last thing to go, leaving the Svefra's body entirely bare, Tydus picking up the flask he treasured so as his sun-kissed skin drank in Syna's light. He jumped into the water, flask in hand.

Bad idea. The water's heat pushed into his flesh, the Svefra feeling, for a long moment, that he was being boiled alive, eyes widening, heart pounding in his chest as his arms, independent of his control, cast out in search of the limestone edges of the springs. The flask fell into the water as a result, panic setting in. He grit his teeth, forced himself to remain in the water, and in a matter of a chime's time, his body adapted to the hot water. The Svefra dove into the water, heat intensifying, a tinge of pain registering for the second time upon his flesh, though he quickly retrieved the flask, breaking from the depths of the heated water not five ticks later. Tydus breathed in a sigh of relief as he thought, Huh... this is actually pretty nice.

“Wait for it…waaaaait for it…”

The black haired Svefra stretched out across the surface of the water on his stomach. He slowly pushed his extended hands back and forth through the water, keeping himself afloat and in one place on the ever changing sea currents. He craned his neck behind him, waiting for the next big set of waves to come in. A small sea otter floated on its back beside him, gnawing on a sea urchin.

Kel eyed the water, seeing a wave start to form. He shook his head once and muttered to himself,
“No, not that one.”

The swell rose but wasn’t going to crest in time for the man to catch it. The rushing water moved towards him, lifting him up before setting him gently back down, before continuing towards the sandy beach and crashing onto it. He continued to float in place, feeling the chill water caress his body as he watched the waves behind him. One finally caught his eye.

“Ahh, that’s the one Jenkins. Alright, watch this. I’m gonna shred this wave…”

He smirked at his tavan before noting the direction that the wave would break; he adjusted his body. The swell rose in the water, about to crest. Kel burst forward, hands gripping and pulling through the water, kicking as hard as he could.

The water crested and caught him at its base. He threw out one arm in front of him and one behind. It picked him up and he aimed his body towards the right, bodysurfing the wave as it drove him towards the beach. He laughed in exhilaration as the wave curled over him, allowing him to glide through the barrel, half of his body submerged by the wave and the other half sticking out. He was about to pull out of the wave and swim back over to his sea otter when something on the beach caught his eye.

Tydus had shown up. Kel grinned and opened his mouth to call out.
“Hey! Ty com-“ But he forgot one key element.

He was still riding the wave. That is, until broke on top of him.

His words were cut off as he was submerged beneath the ocean and water entered his mouth. The wave crashed and sent him tumbling through the water, disorientation blinding him as he was tossed head over heels, smacking onto the sand along the bottom of the waterbed. Sharp pain burned as his side was he was drug along the ground.

Finally, the water relented and he was sprawled out along the beach. He spluttered as he came up from the receding water. Kel lifted both hands to his face and wiped the salt water from his eyes, brushing the sopping wet hair away. He coughed violently, expelling water from his lungs. The Svefra flopped back onto the sand as another wave crashed onto the shore and shot water over his body, pushing him a little farther up on the sand before trying to drag him back in.

He inhaled deeply, trying to catch his breath after his failed attempt at riding the wave. Jenkins glided in on the next wave and slowly pattered up the beach towards Kel. Jenkins had been badly wounded by a mace to the hindquarters and was still recovering. He held his backleg off the ground and hopped. His whiskers twitched as he looked down at the exhausted man. Kel turned his head and glared at him.

“Not. A. Word.” Kel growled and pushed himself up, looking around.

“I saw Tydus walking along here. Let’s go follow him and see what he’s up to.” Kel pushed himself to his feet, his naked body dripping water. The droplets glistened in the sun as the rays caught them. He strode up towards the dry sand, feeling it shift beneath his feet. There was a limp in his step where he had taken a knife to the calf from the same incident that Jenkins was apart of. A large scab formed over the wound.

After a few ticks he came to a pile of his black clothes and his trident that was stuck into the soft sand, prongs first. He snatched up the pile, feeling his kukri wrapped in his sash under the fabric. Kel wrapped a hand around the trident and pulled it free. He looked down at the sea otter who followed him up the beach, lazily.

“Alright mate, let us go!”

The naked Svefra began hiking up the sandy beach, following in the footsteps of his podmate.

It had been a very interesting week for the young Vantha, who'd dealt with multiple encounters with others...and a hostage situation. Nothing too exciting. Seeking escape from the day, she'd asked around the city for an idea of where she could go to relax and ended up taking the advice of the bartender of the Kulk, whose inn was near her house. He'd suggested she pay the hot springs a visit. Though she was much more comfortable in colder waters, heat would soothe her sore muscles. She picked a time not many Riverfall citizens would be at the springs in an attempt to avoid further socialization. Besides, if she got there and the hot spings were deserted, she wouldn't need to take a dip with anything on bewteen her and the warmth of the water.

Her house was on the southern side of the city, fairly close to the gates. Though it wouldn't be a long walk, this was the perfect opportunity to take Myaris out on a ride. Her horse was desperately in need of exercise. So she tacked up the white horse-blanket first, naturally-and mounted her, urging the horse towards the gates at a slow but steady walk. There would be time to go fast later. Her backpack remained home, though her cloak did not. She wore it on her back as she usually did. In case the springs weren't as empty as Adi hoped, she wore the undergarments that she usually reserved for wearing on her wash days under the simple white outfit she'd arrived in Riverfall wearing.

The ride to the hot springs was, thankfully, peaceful. When she approached a rocky area, she dismounted Myaris and tied the good-natured horse's reins to a nearby tree. Slowly, she began the process of staking out the springs fo-holy shyke, is that Ty? Adi kept her distance from the short-haired Svefra, who thankfully hadn't seen her. An idea occured to her then. This idea was one that would serve as payback for his departure as soon as he'd awoken in her hotel room. Carefully, she ducked, and silently snuck towards the pile of clothes Tydus left exposed. She managed to reach his clothing pile undetected, and using extreme caution she took his clothing and balled-up sash into her arms. Then, equally careful exiting as she had been entering, Adi snuck back to Myaris, who still remained tied contently to the tree. Since her backpack was at home, she removed Myaris' saddle and blanket and carefully laid out his clothing in a flat layer. The saddle blanket went back on, and then the saddle.

With a smirk playing across her face, Adi swiftly undressed, leaving the strip of linen bound around her chest and her underpants on. Even though he'd seen her naked, Adi was still an unmarried woman with a sense of modesty. Taking her clothing off with only one hand was becoming easier as time went on, thankfully. Hopefully she wouldn't have to deal with a broken wrist much longer.

Adi's stride to the pools of water that made up the hot springs was confident and ever so slightly provocative, with a light swing of her hips ending every step. The walk seemed to happen in slow motion for the Vantha woman. At least until her foot, bare as it was, landed on a rock. It was just a pebble, but it moved! With her full body weight on that foot, not only did it hurt, it slipped out from under her foot as she went to take another step forwards.

And she'd been so close, too.

As luck would have it, she tripped, plunging into the pool that also contained Tydus. HOT!

[Travertine Hot Springs]Tempting Tempests(Grace, Adi, Kel)

Postby Grace Lechar on March 18th, 2014, 1:34 pm

Grace's toes dug into the cool sand, the walk out here being somewhat more tiring than she thought it would be. Jeno had no issue with it, as he ran up and down the stretch of beach. The dog had never seen sand before, so when Grace finally got him to follow her, he was more than enthusiastic. She was nearing the springs, looking forwards to a calming soak in the warm waters. As she could see the springs, she heard a muted thumping in the sand behind her, and turned around. A horse leisurely galloped past, with a woman on it's back. Okay, so I won't be completely alone . . .

Jeno didn't bother with the horse, not seeing the beast as a threat and continued playing. The dog didn't like the ocean waves and would wander over to them as the tide pulled out only to flee with his tail between his legs when a wave returned. Grace thought it was amusing and glanced out over the water one last time, the scene see saw confusing her. A man seemed to literally swim out of the ocean! Why would he be in the freezing cold ocean? He was stretched out on the sand, facing the sky and Grace could see his chest moving, taking deep breathes. She was too far away to catch his attention, but Grace called out to him to see if he was okay. As her voice was swept away with the wind, a small rodent like creature came up to sit by his head. As Grace walked up to him, peering towards him to see if he was still breathing, he sprang up."Alright mate, let us go!”

Grace's eyes widened, thinking he was talking to her as he yanked a fork-like weapon out of the ground with a vicious strength. Was he going to stab her with the thing? Jeno was there suddenly, hovering around Grace who's walk had slowed and begun growling at the man. She didn't calm the dog nor did she give him the leisure to attack, as the dark haired man scared her as much as he scared the dog. It wasn't until he lowered the weapon that Grace whistled for Jeno to relax. The whistle also seemed to catch the man's attention, and Grace waved.

"Heading to the springs?" She smiled, matching her stride with his. "I'm Grace by the way" She stuck out her hand and realized she was quiet friendly for not knowing the man, but eh, they were going to the same place so why not make a friend? As the two came to the shore of the springs, Grace's shoulders sank watched Jeno run at full speed before jumping into the springs. The poor dog didn't realize it was probably boiling hot.

"Petch." Grace mumbled under her breathe, watching the dog whimper back to shore. He assumed since the water was still that it wasn't going to hurt him, the poor dog. Jeno stumbled out of the springs, shaking off before running right to her. Grace's attention strayed form the man as she dropped other knees, ready to comfort her dog. Except he didn't need the comfort. Jeno ran right past her and Grace swiveled in the sand, watching him drop and start rolling, caking the powdery substance to his wet fur. "You little ass." She muttered to the dog, waving him off and standing back up. The little six second ordeal was somewhat embarrassing and Grace offered the man a sheepish smile for the weird scene, before she dropped her stuff by a boulder.

Grace realized she would have to strip down in front of these people. Adrenaline rushed through her for a reason that was nondescript. She glanced back to see Jeno laying in the sand, panting, before turned back. She shuffled around the boulder to obscure her body from the people around her as best she could, but it wouldn't fully cover her as she yanked off her dress. She laid the garment out on the boulder, placing her bag on top of it so it wouldn't blow away. She then glanced back to the man, who had stripped himself, and nodded towards the springs before Grace hopped once and jumped into the spring.

Grace pulled her legs up, sinking in the water while leaving a rather large splash above. As she was under, her eyes shot open and all the air she held in her lungs were let loose as the heat of the springs seemed to fry her skin. Grace uncurled, the movement pushing her downward and let her feet touch the bottom of the deep basin before propelling herself back up to the surface. Grace's head broke water and she sucked in air, her body adapting to the heat quickly and she treaded water. Grace's head whipped around, looking for the man she walked up with. Just then a girl stumbled in, landing on top of someone that was underwater, causing a splashing mess that Grace swooped her arms to glide away from.

Grace swam over to the shore, holding onto the edge. She hadn't been swimming since she was little and the new exercise was alien to her. Grace's feet hit the ground and she stood, her head barely clearing the surface. Grace tiptoed a bit farther up the shore, the action hard to do with barely any grasp on the ground.

[Travertine Hot Springs]Tempting Tempests(Grace, Adi, Kel)

Postby Tydus Tempest on March 18th, 2014, 5:40 pm

Tydus heard Kel in the distance at his approach, but the voice was too faint, the echo reaching him, word imperceptible, but obviously interrupted by a habit that the duo had grown into as children. Bodysurfing. While most avoided the water, an inability to swim or a fear of submergence arise in the hearts of landlocked men and women, but for the Svefra, there was freedom in the sea.

Tydus and Kel had pursued it relentlessly, seeking to bond with the Master that was Laviku, bathing in his divine ocean blood in communion with him and mutual amusement. At least, that was how Tydus saw it. Kel's thoughts about the sea God were lost to Tydus, as their conversations were fixated upon distraction and diversion. Kel was the friend that Tydus needed because there was no pursuit into the happenings of the past. No questioning into Ty's grief.

But, it was not the moment to dwell on that. Kel would climb the hill to see what Tydus was doing in the hot spring. That much was clear. What wasn't clear was why Adi had come up, as well. Did she come with him? He saw her as she fell into the pool, reaching down with an arm and pulling the woman to the surface with an amused chuckle.

It was... interesting to see the woman. Usually, Ty left his conquests, a tradition repeated with Adi, but almost never came the opportunity to see them again. The Svefra smiled at the woman, embracing her without another word spoken as he noted the presence of yet another woman, eyebrows arched as he watched her rather demure demeanor. The Tempest scion watched in amusement as she hopped in, offering a bright smile as she surfaced, calling out to both of the women, "G'd morning! T'was expectin' a dip alone, but t'is always a pleasure to share space with a lovely lady, much less two." He flashed Adi a wink before stepping around her to greet the other.

"Name's Tydus Tempest, love." He offered his hand in greeting, a bright grin masking his hidden exasperation at having to share space with others. He had come up with the intention of isolation from others, though obviously, that was never to happen. First, Kel. Then Adi. And a third came into the mix, stewing a medley that was sure to interrupt the relaxing day that Tydus had intended to have.

Of course, this wasn't all bad, plans were frowned upon in the Svefra lifestyle, the waves washed ashore chaotically, heeding no call other than that of Laviku himself, and Tydus allowed the opinion to form that life was to be the same way. Just as the Svefra, without his Tavan to help him swim was at the mercy of the tides, so was Tydus to destiny.

In the ocean below, just about to break the surface of the tides' froth, was Vesh, eager to seek out his Svefra brother, the penguin waddling to the shore in an attempt to follow Kel up the hill. The penguin knew that wherever Kel was going, Tydus was sure to be.

Wind blew across the beach, picking up grains of sand and carrying them over his feet. Water slowly dripped off of his naked body causing him to shiver as the gust rolled over him. But laziness overrode the feeling of cold and kept him from putting his clothes back on.

A sharp whistle cut through the air. Kel looked up, surprised by the sound and Jenkins head perked up. A lone figure stood a little ways ahead of him, a dog standing slightly in front of her. He raised an eyebrow and looked down at Jenkins.

“Look at that mangy mutt. What kind of companion is THAT?” Kel snorted, “Land dwellers…”

He stopped in front of the woman, furrowing his brow. “Springs? What yeh’ be talkin’ about? I’m just followin’ me podmate.” He pointed up in the direction Tydus had walked. Kel ignored her extended hand and bowed mockingly, maintaining eye connect with her, a smirk crossed his face.

“Aye, lil’ G. Me name is Kel. Kel Tempest.”

The two were about to continue on their way when something caught Kel's eye. He looked behind him and saw a little penguin waddling towards them. The Svefra sighed, "Alright fine you little monster. Come with."

Tydus' tavan companion ruffled his feathers as he waddled beside Jenkins. The sea otter chittered. Kel looked at the two and jerked his head in the direction of the dog.

"I'll give ten clams to whichever beats up the dog first."

He turned and set off in the direction that Tydus had taken. Kel could see something that looked like smoke drifting up over the small incline. He squinted at it not understanding what it was. It wasn’t as dark as smoke from a fire usually was or as thick. It seemed much…clearer. He frowned as he continued looking at it.

They crested the slope. Pools upon pools dotted the landscape, steam rising off of the water. Waterfalls shot off rock edges, cascading down the face of the cliff, filling every crevice with boiling hot water. Kel look at it, startled. It was a breathtaking sight. He felt a gust of heat hit him the face as they got closer.

The dog barked and ran forward, leaping into the closest pool. He popped to the surface yelping and paddled back to the edge, scampering out. Kel rolled his eyes.
“Idiot animal.”

He cast his gaze out across the different pools, noting the variety of shapes and sizes. Farther up the slope, rocks jutted up out of the ground, overhanging some of the pools. Two people caught his attention and a wide grin broke across his face. He sauntered over to them.

“Well well well, lookie who it be. Ty and Adi. Aaaaall alone in teh’ water.” He made kissing noises as he puckered his lips, pretending to make out with someone. He chuckled at his own hilarity and dropped his clothes in a pile by the water’s edge. Kel spun his trident in the air with one hand and stabbed it into a small patch of soil.

The Svefra backed up, giving himself room for a running start before sprinting forward. He hobbled forward, and tried leaping into the air as he came to the edge of the pool and curled his legs to his chest, wrapping his arms around them. He didn't make it very high into the air due to his wound.

“CANNONBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL!” He hollered as he crashed into the pool, sending a wall of water straight into the air. The disturbed water began to settle as Kel’s head broke the surface.

“BY LAVIKU’S SCRAGGLY BEARD, WHY TEH’ WATER BE SO BLASTED HOT,” his angry voice bouncing off of the rocks. He whirled around and glared at the two love birds in the water. “What treachery be this?! Hot water?? Outrage I say…” He grumbled to himself as his body adjusted to the heated liquid.

He slowly lowered his upper torso into the water until he was submerged from the neck up. He narrowed his eyes, mumbling to himself.
“Hmm…maybe this ain’t be too bad…” He lifted a finger and pointed it at Adi and Tydus. “I still not be likin’ it though.”

"Grace." Grace offered with a grin. Jeno stood beside the shore, barking and growling at a little slithery creature that was about to get in the water. Grace panicked, whistled Jeno's relax command, as the dog was about to clamp onto the creature. Grace glared at the dog, as he growled once more at the animal, but he obeyed her command, trotting away to continue his play in the sand.

Relaxing again, Grace kicked her feet up to attempt to float. Just then a rather peculiar sound rang out. An unintelligible word being yelled above them. Grace looked just in time to see a man jump into the water, much in the same fashion she did. One of the only differences was Grace had chosen to wear clothes, whereas he had not, revealing more to her than she exactly wanted to see. Grace squeezed her eyes closed as the water splashed over her, forcing the rather unwelcoming image out of her head and dropped below the surface, she flipped her head so that when she came back up her hair was out of her eyes. Blinking a few times, Grace looked over at Kel who was cursing at the warm water.

A giggle erupted form her lips at the man's reaction. She quickly replaced it with a smirk as she tried to suppress her laugh. Grace kicked her feet up again, floating didn't seem as easy as it sounded. Once she realized her water skills were non-existent, Grace edged closer to the edge, attempting to find hold on the ground again. She watched the group already forming, apparently they knew each other. Grace tiptoed a bit deeper so her nose was the only thing about the water, feeling her hair swirl around her shoulders. Grace couldn't seem to stay still in the water, she enjoyed it too much, but it was a strange sensation. She hadn't been fully immersed in water since she was a child.

Grace was torn between making friends with these people, or actually relaxing. She hadn't had a problem with introducing herself to a complete stranger, but a trio of them, who already know each other? That was a bit tougher. Then again, if she didn't say hi then she could go to the other side and actually relax as she originally wanted to do. Grace caught the woman's eye as she thought and instinctively smiled, her hand splashing the water as she tried to wave. The water hit her face, causing her to flinch and making the overall exchange a bit less Graceful than she intended.

OOCHey, if we could stick to a regular posting order, that'd be awesome. I get kind of confused when people popcorn it. ^^;

Adi spluttered as her head broke the surface of the water, gladly accepting a hand from Tydus. It was hot! Uncomfortably hot for a Vantha, who thrived in icy climates like the snowy city of Avanthal. She ran a hand through her hair, water blocking the highlights that would normally be visible during the day. Then she got an idea. With a devious smirk on her face, she shook her head like a wet dog, droplets of water flying from the black tendrils of hair tha whipped back and forth. When she was done acting like a fool, she combed through her long hair with her fingers in hopes of taming it somewhat.

She couldn't exactly say she was happy about Kel and his new lady friend making themselves known. Especially when he fake-kissed the air in front of him. Raising an eyebrow over an orange eye, Adi smirked at him. "You really think that's how you kiss a woman, Kel? I'm surprised. I thought someone who liked to watch would've picked up a couple of tips." She wiggled her eyebrows and burst out laughing. Nothing like old jokes. "Do you need a demonstration?" The question was asked with a wink and a sly smile.

And then he jumped in the pool. Tikita! That won't be pleasant for him. Water from his grand entry splashed on her face, soaking her hair again. Sighing, she ran her fingers through her hair again, wringing out as much water as she could. Soaking in warm water was unpleasant, but she was starting to get used to the feeling. It...really wasn't too bad. Just hot. Very, very hot.

With a yawn, Adi relaxed into the pool. Eyes fully returned to their usual violet color peered around the rocky cliffs that made up the hot springs. The woman who'd arrived with Kel-Grace, she'd said her name was-caught her gaze. Adi smiled at her. "Want to come over here? We won't bite. Kel might, but he doesn't seem in the mood for that today."

Bright laughter bubbled from Tydus' lips once he shook Grace's hand. Not from anything the woman said or had done, but because he saw Vesh in the distance. Immediately, the young man grinned at his Tavan, encouraging the little penguin to waddle forward and greet his Svefra friend. Tydus hugged the penguin around the belly, lifting it into the air with a grin before pressing a single kiss to the plumage at the top of its head, "Vesh! Ha! It's great to see you woke up, little man!"

The little penguin nodded its head slowly before tilting it in Kel's direction, flapping its wings up and down twice and shuffling in place with its feet. Tydus tilted his head, looking between Jenkins and Kel before replying, "They brought you along? Huh, well that's great! I didn't expect you up until later." The Svefra ruffled the feathers at Vesh's back, causing the penguin to spin about in an attempt at preening itself before the Tempest scion realized that he had been speaking in Fratava.

A chuckle escaped the man's lips as he sunk into the water, submerging his head and allowing though to be cleansed from his mind as he allowed the walls that he built around people to be fully constructed again. Bubbles emitted from the man's mouth as he let out one final sound underwater, the words garbled by the liquid. Only Vesh would be able to fully realize what was wrong, and as the Svefra made way to the water's edge, placing his shoulders upon the limestone rim of the bowl that was the hot spring, the penguin pressed its wings to the Svefra's shoulders.

It was just now that the Tempest scion saw the dog, though he failed to take it into consideration, a disinterested gaze casting about the length of the canine's furry form before he switched his attentions towards Kel and Adi. He noted an exchange between the two was had, but he had either been speaking to Fratava with Vesh at the time or fully submerged to hear what was said. And again, he didn't implore to take interest.Rather, he wore his grin like an article of clothing, the only one he had on at the moment, using it to protect himself from the conversation, though when Adi spoke the last lines to Grace, Tydus chimed in his approval, "Aye. Teh hot water be good for Kel, it seems. 'Stead of cold to calm down teh heat, ye just need more heat, eh, lad?"

He winked at his podbrother in jest, a laugh escaped his lips, measured in tone yet hearty in appearance as he reaced back to brush against Vesh's feathers again. The Tempest scion then retracted his hand, leaning back against the limestone wall and using Vesh's body as a sort of pillow as he allowed the heat to continue its work, permeating his form. He was here first, and had no intention of moving. So, he tuned the others out, if only for just a moment.

The heat wrapped Kel in its warm embrace. He vaguely heard the retorts of Adi and Tydus but he ignored them. He didn’t particularly care what they had to say. Kel focused back on to the sensation the boiling water had on his body. He hadn’t experienced anything quite like it before in his travels. He floated in the pool, feeling the tendrils of heated water sooth him. Jenkins perched on the edge of the limestone walls, neck stretched out, sniffing the water.

“Jeeeeenkins…you gonna get in?” The otter blinked at him and huffed. Kel narrowed his eyes and lowered his face, until only his Laviku blues were above the water. He slowly moved through the liquid towards the sea otter. Jenkins stared at him.

Kel burst from the water in a flurry of motion. He landed on top of the sea otter gently, aware of his injury but not stopping his horseplay. He wrapped his arms around his tavan companion, stopping the animal from escaping. Jenkins squirmed in the Svefra’s embrace as the two rolled around on the ground beside the pool. Kel burst into laughter as he fought his tavan. He finally got a firm enough grip on the slender animal and staggered to his feet. Jenkins fought to escape, chittering.

“You ready Jenkins? Into the springs we gooooooo!" Kel leaped into the pool yet again, otter pressed firmly to his chest. The two hit the surface in an explosion of water, sending a wall shooting into the air. They popped back to the surface, Jenkins chattered loudly and Kel laughing hysterically.

“Aww c’mon you little rascal. You liked it, don’t lie." Jenkins huffed and flipped onto his back, floating lazily as steam curled around his slim form. Kel slithered through the water towards his tavan and began tickling the otter. Jenkins squirmed in the water, a high pitch whistle emanating from the animal as though he were giggling. Kel grinned as the two played.

The small critter finally escaped and dove under the water. Kel whirled around as he looked down into the steaming pool, trying to spot the sea animal. The Svefra began chortling as Jenkins tickled him with his fur as he weaved between Kel’s legs. He cast his hands about the water, trying to catch the fickle animal. The sea otter disappeared.

Suddenly the sea otter burst from the water straight at Kel. The Svefra stumbled back, startled. His hands came up to defend himself and automatically caught the otter from underneath his front paws. Kel grinned and straightened his arms above his head.

“Iiiiiiiiiiiii crumba! Loma neeee-bo-go-daaaa!” He held the sea otter in the air triumphantly, yelling gibberish as water trickled down his arms. Kel slowly lowered Jenkins and held him out to the cluster of people across the limestone pool. He looked at them solemnly, “Your king…has returned.”

Jenkins squirmed and managed to escape again. The two friends continued playing, diving and splashing in the water, enjoying one another’s company, not a care in the world.
