Timestamp: 5th of Fall 510 AV Night had washed over Denval and with it Sitkanis had taken on his night time form. A tall, tanned, strong man was replaced with a considerably shorter, pale, lanky man who could have passed for a boy in his late teens, maybe early twenties. It was not a form he was proud of. Light purple eyes were not for a man like him in his opinion yet there he was with eyes so purple they seemed to glow under Leth's light. He was not in the best of moods due to this fact. He felt stripped of his masculinity and yet at night the sideways looks seemed to linger longer than in the time of Syna. As much as Sitankis did not want to admit it but he knew that others preferred his night form. He just did not feel like it was him. When Sitkanis started to feel off like he was now he would go to the docks. When he felt empty he returned to look out at the very place he fell. He did not know why he went there. The memories stung a bit, especially because he had threatened to kill a girl on the night he fell. It made him feel close to his far off home in the Ukalas. Even if he could not walk with the stars or share a realm with Leth he took comfort in the night time horizon over the sea. Somewhere out there his home was waiting for him, he just didn't know where or when he would return. The autumn wind whipped around Sitkanis and he ran his hands down his arms. He was dressed in his night time clothing which consisted of a loose shirt and a pair of pants. It was nothing too fancy, just something that was small enough for him at night. He looked up at the clouds that were drifting past the moon. He had to push his silver bangs out of the way just to see. That was another thing he had to get used to, longer hair. Everything was so new and at the same time the same. While Syna shined everything seemed familiar but when Leth, Sitkanis' patron deity took his place nothing seemed right. It was an odd happening but Sitkanis had never been one to find himself in easy situations. If only he could have had it easy once in a while. That would have made all the difference, at least that is how he felt. |

It was a beautiful fall night in Denval. He had been in this glorious city for almost a month now, yet the beauty of this place never ceased to amaze him. Unlike Avanthal, Denval was so rich and luscious in color. He had made the most of his time here so far, practicing his skills with Master Jarret and meeting other races that have seemed to gather here. Tonight was no different than any of the others.
Deciding he couldn't possibly be indoors on such a wonderful night, Alodian dressed in his Emerald shirt and black pants, coupled with shoes fit for walking. He headed out of his humble abode in search of his next destination, letting his feet guide the way. Tonight they took him in the direction of the docks. It didn't take him long to actually reach the docks since they weren't that far away to begin with. Once there, Alodian noticed a stranger he hadn't met yet. This curious stranger looked much different than anyone he lay eyes on before. He could tell it was a man; that might have been too strong of a word, considering he didn't look to be much older than Mihai. Nonetheless, the man's eyes seemed to be glowing a bright purple, and tht fascinated Alodian. He had never seen anyone with different color eyes than his own Vantha race. How exciting it was! Alodian slowly approached the stranger, not wanting to startle the poor guy. "Beautiful night, isn't it?" Alodian said, his emeralds shining bright under the moonlight. |

A person approached and it started Sitkanis. He had not expected anyone to come to the docks. Denval was proving that he needed to drop his expectations. Life was never going to happen as he thought it was. He was not looking down at the world through the Ukalas he was living it. It scared him and made him feel exposed. When so many people found death a scary omnipresent factor Sitkanis was scared of being alive. He had been dead for so long and now he was alive, skin and bones. It was a scary thought even though it was a reality that most people lived. Sitkanis was just not used to it yet.
As the stranger spoke up Sitkanis turned his eyes to him. He was not the most friendly person but Denval had been softening him. He could not help but begin to let down the hard barrier that he had built around himself. The people in Denval were so friendly, much more friendly than he was used to. "It is. Night really is a magical time." He knew the statement was blatantly obvious due to his form but truly, he was terrible at talking to people. "I'm...Sitkanis by the way. I just arrived here about a week ago. I'm still getting used to the rhythm of things I guess." His voice was deep and a little heavy-hearted. He missed Leth and his quiet life in the Ukalas. He breathed in the sea air and looked out at the moon. He would return someday, he just did not know when. |

Alodian took in this incredible stranger. He seemed so unenthused, and he didn't know why. Denval was nothing short of amazing, and he thought no one could be unhappy here. It seemed as though Alodian had met the first one. "I do not mean to seem intrusive, but it appears you do not like it here. I was curious as to why?" he said, the words flowing from his mouth before he had a chance to think about them. Noticing that this fellow wasn't from around here, a thought occured to him. "Is it because you miss your homeland?" he asked curiously, cocking his head to the side. Alodian sighed, as he remembered his home and his mother. "Avanthal," Alodian said in Vani, the word flowing like velvet from his lips.
Alodian looked around the beautiful night sky, picking out stars and the luscious moon. His heart warmed at the thought of his Goddess Rak'keli, and the knowledge that she was up there, possibly watching him now. He silently thanked the Goddess, turning back to Sitkanis. "Hello friend Sitkanis. I am Alodian Aviastas. I have lived here for almost a month now, and I quite like it," he said, switching back to Common so the tall boy......or a very young man could understand him. "Do you plan to stay here like me? Or do you plan on moving on to various spots of the region?" he asked, more out of interest than needing to know. This strangers race was very peculiar, and Alodian would liek to get to know more about them. |

Sitkanis:
The concern in Alodian's voice was comforting. Although Sitkanis would never admit it to anyone he really needed others too feel secure. He liked to play lone wolf but at the end of the day being alone got you nowhere. In truth, Sitkanis found Denval to be beautiful. It paled in comparassion to the Ukalas though. "It is not that I don't like this town. I assure you I do. I am just as you said..., homesick. My home is much to far away though." Sitkanis was unsure how much he should tell this stranger. He could have been a wack job for all he knew. Something about this Alodian fellow made him calm though. It sparked an interest in Sitkanis and he focused his energy on Alodian, watching as waves of Djed radiated from him. They were soft hues that seemed to glow in the moon. The curious thing was that the hues had an opal-like color. Sitkanis felt the limits of his auristics getting pushed and allowed the Djed to flow as it normally would, free and invisable to him. What did the opal color mean? He had never seen a color in someone's aura like that. The more important thing was that this man was not going to pose a threat. There was no malevolence in his aura and for that fact Sitkanis relaxed.
Although Sitkanis was used to being reserved be found this man quite easy to talk to. "I think I will leave someday and see the lands past Denval but for now i think I will stay here. I like this town a lot. I just do not know a lot about it. I've been mostly just wandering around for the past couple of days like a lost dog." He could not hold back a sheepish smile. His method of getting to know the city was a bit odd and he could admit that. He just could not for the life of him become a convorsationalist. "Speaking of lands past here. Where are you from?" Sitkanis knew it was an unfair question because he was not too willing to share his personal information. He wanted to know more about this opal auraed man. He may not have been a master of auristics but he knew a unique aura when he saw one. He knew of something that had to do with opals. "Opal, opal, opal..." Sitkanus started to nutter the word quietly to himself hoping something would come to him. Why would it not come to him? He scowered his mind for that it was but he came up blank. There was just too much missing in his mind to string togather a coherent thought. Maybe if he was lucky this Alodian fellow would devolge a hint toward the opal color. As insegnificant as Adolian's opalesent aura was, it fasinated him. He craved to know more but nor know he would have to learn by Adolian's words. His Djed was still strained a bit from reading the man's aura. |

(b)Alodian watched as Sitkanis studied him. He was such a friendly fellow, and Alo was relieved to meet someone who was nice and willing to chat. "I am deeply sorry you are homesick friend. I know how it feels. I hail from Avanthal, the beautiful snowy fortress. Home to winter always, as well as the famous Icewatch," he said, smiling as he spoke of his home. "It is quite different here with the vibrant colors and such. "I cannot understand your pain and possibly frustration of your homeland being so far away. But I can empathise with you on the matter. It has only been a month, but I sometimes wonder how my mother is doing. First my father passed, and now her only son has gone," he said, as his shining emeralds transitioned to a brilliant sapphire. The smile faded from his face, as he got a heavy feeling in his heart. "It is alright though. I hope to make advances with my healing studies, so that I may eventually be able to help my people and others. I might even be able to aquire another mark," he hoped, as specks of emerald speckled his sapphire gems.
Alodian thought for a moment before he continued speaking. "Sitkanis, do you have somewhere to stay during your time here? I hate to think that you would be stuck in a tent or such things," he inquired, as he turned to the stars for a quick glance. My, they were breathtaking. He turned back to his new friend, so not to be rude. "In life things get better, and I am sure that your homesickness will ease with time. Maybe my friend, there will come a day when you get to return there," Alodian suggested, as the sapphire slowly faded, returning the shining emeralds to their rightful place.(/b) |

The memories were still painfully clouded but Sitkanis tried to recall Avanthal. What was it? The city of the wind? No, that could not be it. City of the Vantha? Somewhat, but it had a certian name. Avanthal... City of the Aurora! Yes, that was it. Small flecks of memories began to float to the surface. Vanthas lived in Avanthal. Vantha's eyes change color with their moods. They were small facts but they were facts just the same. Although he still could not remember anything about it home except rushing grass and running horses the thought that he remembered something, anything, made him happy. "I am sure this Avanthal place is quite the place to see. I would like to see it some day but I don't know if I will. As far as I know it is very out of the way." Sitkanis longed for memories of home. It most have been why he loved horses so much. It was his only memory of home.
Alodian's words of his mother stirred up another curiosity in Sitkanis. What was he family like? Where they even alive? Had he been married or had kids? Then the talk of a mark caught Sitkanis' attention. He was starting to understand where the opal color in Alodian's aura was coming from. Sitkanis was a bit worried to try and read Alodian's aura again. He did not to overuse and hurt himself. He took a deep breath and focused on Alodian for a moment, trying to read him but everything was shaky. He was not talentled enough to use so much Djed. He would have to find his answers the old fashioned way, by asking. "If you don't mind me asking, what is this mark that you speak of? It is from Rak'keli correct?" He knew that question easy enough. He had spent enough time in the Ukalas to know who the god of healing was.
Alodian asked Sitkanis a question that surprised him. He asked if he had a place to stay. Sitkanis pondered in his mind whether or not he would lie to Alodian. He did not want to complecate annother person with his issues. He decided in the end the truth would come out. "I am living in tent tent at the moment. It's not too bad. It does tend to be a bit chilly lately though." Sitkanis did not bit really mind about the tent. What he wanted was a warm soft bed. For now he would have to do though.
Once again the homeland talk got started. Sitkanis found that he had very little fears about who he was and where he was from. "I know I will get back where I belong someday. Until now I am just living life." he wanted to be optimistic and Leth knew he tried. It was just so gosh darn difficult for him. He harbored a lot of terrible emotion and even more resentmeant to mankind in general. Still, this man was calming. It had to have been his opal auroa. |

Alodian watched the peculiar stranger as he seemed to be studying him. When Sitkanis mentioned Rak'keli, Alodian's eyes lit up. "Yes, I have a single mark from the Goddess Rak'keli. I was blessed with it when I became of the age of 18," he said, as he rolled up his right sleeve, revealing his gnosis mark. He left his sleeve rolled up as he turned his attention back to his newfound friend. When he heard that Sitkanis was living in a tent, he frowned. "Sitkanis, the weather is going to be changing soon. Please, why don't you stay with me? A tent will not be comfortable place for you in the winter. I can offer you a bed and warmth in the colder months," he offered to his new friend.
It really was a nice night out. "Well living life can be fun, if your with the right people. I find that if you find the right people to go through life with, then it really isn't so bad. As long as you have a companion, nothing could ever seem so bad. Sure you miss home, but spending your time with someone can ease that seperation and pain. Whereas if you are alone, time seems to stand still, the pain lingering. For me, I found Master Jarret and Marius, two people who help ease the seperation and pain of being away from my mother. She's the only family I have. Not having a wife or children made the time go by slow, until I met these very welcoming people. It gets better my friend," Alodian said, as he gave a soft smile to Sitkanis. |

Had Alodian actually offered to let Sitkanis stay with him? He was taken aback. He had not expected such kindness from a stranger, especially so soon after his fall. Sitkanis smiled and looked at Alodian. "I would be a down right liar if I said that I do not want to take you up on your offer but you barely know me. For all you know I could kill you in you sleep." Sitkanis bit his lip "I mean I would not dream of killing you but… I don't know. I wish I was that trusting." Sitkanis had always had trouble trusting people, even in his past life. He was amazed at the Vantha's trust in him. "I would pay you of course. I don't have a job but I'll get one. I don't want to live off of you for nothing." The whole thought of living with someone else was mind boggling to him. Even the idea of a house was. In his past life he lived in Endrykas where the town was always moving. In the Ukalas, well it was the Ukalas. There was no need for homes.
A small chuckle bubbled out of Sitkanis' throat. "I have met this Marius. He is quite the individual. There is never a dull moment with him is there?" Sitkanis thought back to his meeting with the strange human man. He had never been so intrigued and even a littler creeped out in his life. In both lives he had never met a man who could talk so much about so many odd things. "I guess that is what is great about being here. Everyone knows each other." It was calming to know that the city was so connected socially. "I don't have a family at all so in someway I know how it feels to be alone." He tried to think of his family but nothing came to mind. It was a strange feeling not knowing who your family was. A family of one was lonely and there was nothing to fall back on. A family of one was free but it was the loneliest thing a man could imagine. |

Alodian listened to Sitkanis as he spoke. "Dear friend, you do not have to be trusting, but you have to trust in the ability to. Trust will them come to you naturally. Do not fret my friend," he said, as he smiled at his new friend. He thought for a moment before he responded to the man. "Aye, family is hard to come by. Usually the women in my homeland are married by the time they reach my age. I have not had the pleasure to find myself such a woman," he said sullenly. It was hard not being able to have someone to talk to at night about your troubles. He just wished he could find someone that was right for him, and had similar interests.
Turning his attention back to Sitkanis, he smiled. "You are welcome to stay as long as you wish. I do not mind, and if you ever need to, there's a chapel underneath of my residence," he informed Sitkanis, as he nodded to himself. He would need to make a trip there soon, to conversate with his goddess. "My friend, can happiness and warmth, and even companionship be called nothing? Certainly not. You are giving me much by agreeing to stay. Do not fret my friend," he said with a contagious smile. |
