Gender: Male
Age: 20
Birthday: 25, winter, 493
Birthplace: Syliras
Appearance: Russell is a well tanned individual, who stands at the above average height of 6’1’’. His skin fairly unblemished and unscarred, his eyes are a light green, and his hair a very dark brown. He’s not very muscular, nor is he chubby, sitting somewhere in the middle, and overall he looks like your run of the mill person. His arms are a little longer than average which is something he gets annoyed about. He tends to walk upright, and with a straight back, each one of his steps tends to look a little bit awkward, but not something that someone would notice unless they were looking. Russell’s hair is usually well kept and straight, with a slight shine on it.
Russell wears a very simple set of clothing, which comes hand in hand with his general philosophy of not standing out. His trousers are a dark brown, his shirt is a simple white and his cloak is a very dark blue. And his boots are in the same shade of brown his trousers are in.
Character ConceptRussell is an individual that is very simple to understand after a being around him a while. He might come off as charismatic to begin with, a great guy, a good laugh. But in that same sense he can also come across as the coldest man, a cruel being that loves the suffering of others. It’s not that one of these sides masks the others, but in truth they’re both truly him. His instability is his most obvious feature, his whims and wants can change by the week, his likes and dislikes change near daily. But there is one thing that he always strives for; and that is to further himself, whether through magic or to move a business along, it doesn’t matter to him whether he has to step over a couple of people over the way.
While this makes him come across as an extremely cold person, he can also be loyal in the most interesting way, Russell tends to “spoil” his followers or friends in whatever way he can, he also tends to have a bad habit when it comes to meddling in their affairs, and getting involved when he doesn’t need to. He does whatever he thinks is best for them...Whether they like it or not.
He’s also got an extreme hatred for the knight order of Syliras, and this hatred can almost take over him. Make him do things that he normally wouldn’t do, and take actions that even he would deem as rash.
He’s also someone who greatly dislikes immaturity in whatever form, and will react rather aggressively whenever he sees anyone acting so. This makes him a bit of a hypocrite considering that he himself has a tendency of doing so. He’s also someone who appreciates power in whatever form, and tends to get along better with those who have it. A strange thing about Russell is that he has an eye for any sort of art, but he himself has never tried them saying that they’re great to look at, but useless in practice.
One strange thing about Russell is his respect and worship of the Goddess of death Dira. While he doesn't tell people straight away, just observing him for a small amount of time would tell them that he holds a great amount of respect for her.
Now on the topic of death, at the current moment Russell isn't quite sure as to how to feel about such a thing, the death of others is something that hardly bothers him, even if they were close at one point. But his own death is something Russell can't seem to make his mind up about, whether he fears it or not. It isn't something he thinks about most of the time, and when it does pop up in his mind, Russell tends to avoid the thought.
Character HistoryBorn and raised in Syliras, Russell’s childhood was far from what one could consider normal. From a young age this person was striving for something greater, and it all started with his father. His father was a Wizard who was considered a failure by many and was the first in 3 generations of the Wood family not to make it as a mage knight, the man was nothing great; in fact he was what one could call a laughing stock, a true example of a man who was destined to fail. This is what pushed this child to strive for greater things, to help clear the name of his failure of a father. It didn’t help that his father was a very clumsy man either.
That’s where the first great event of young Russell’s life took place, the death of his father. The knights of Syliras had no time to waste with a failure of a magic user, and even though he had somehow managed to get away with a previous accident, lightning doesn’t strike twice. The punishment was swift and painful, his father was killed, and Russell felt an even greater need to succeed. His entire life was almost based on that his ideal was to become a successful person.
Since he was still a child, the boy didn’t know what that meant, or how to possibly get that far, he had managed to learn a couple of things from his no good father, well things that could get him started. The person who had taught Russell everything to do with magic was in fact his grandfather, who was a rather what one could call a successful magic user. The man had collected a vast amount of skills in his age, and had attempted to pass it on to his son, who had no skill for magic. As he was studying magic, Russell’s own mother made sure to teach him a little about being observant, if there was one thing the boy should try and succeed at it was to pay attention to everything around him. And as Russell grew older so did his skills.
His need to succeed was still deeply embedded into him, even as an adult the man wanted to do nothing but become better, and he knew good and well that he couldn’t do such a thing in Syliras, and not around those knights that he hated so much. He had been sheltered from them as long as his family could do so. So with one thing in mind, Russell waited until the time came to export food, and he jumped on board until he found himself at a place he could almost call....Home. The young man had arrived at Ravok!
