Spring 18th, 514 A.V.

The Fighter's Pit. It was the one area, at least that Rion knew of, where someone could go for a good fight - at least without either having to get drunk or get thrown in prison first. Here, it was legal to beat somebody's teeth in...at least in the name of training. Not that Rion wanted to do any of that. The only reason he was here was because he'd never visited the Fighter's Pit before. He wanted to at least see what it was like inside before he left Syliras behind.

As always, his mask was drawn over his face, leaving only his blonde hair and mouth for people to distinguish his identity. He would have put up his hood if he wanted to get sun stroke, but because he didn't need it anymore, he only had his mask to hide himself.

Stepping before the large field, Rion wasn't exactly astonished by what he saw. Dirt covering the majority of the wasteland, with a few patches of grass here and there. A few weapons lined up for people who didn't have their own. A large wall surrounding everything so that it at least had the appearance of an arena. It looked more like an over-sized trash yard to Rion than an actual training ground. But he wouldn't let the look of the place deceive him.

Glancing about, Rion noticed only a few people scattered about focused only on their training. It must have been a slow day. That or everyone was afraid the place would be flooded when the rains came again. Whatever the reason, it didn't really matter much to Rion. This just meant there was more room for him to fight/train. Now all he needed was a sparring partner...

Don't feed the Tigers (Sei)

Postby Sei Tendo on March 28th, 2014, 5:41 pm

Sei Tendo

Sei had abandoned his armor, with only a shortsword sheathed across his back. He huffed out a sigh, clearly aggravated. My day off and I'm still training. He stretched his arms and legs, did a few torso twists, and walked closer to the exit of the Fighter Pit's. He was usually at The Training Grounds with Ser Erik - his Patron. Being a squire made you see things differently, especially your view on yourself. I'm getting way to soft.

The Kelvic wandered a bit closer to the entrance/exit before stopping. There weren't many fighters around, mainly because the ground was slick with mud from the rains. It was drier than the past few mornings at least. Then there was the guy standing in front of him. He tilted his head to the side until he figured he'd run into the man. He wore a mask and a cloak, but other than that he looked.. Somewhat normal.

"Sorry 'bout that." He said, he then looked around. "Is there something you're looking for?"

Don't feed the Tigers (Sei)

Fortunately, Rion wouldn't have to wait too long, as a potential partner literally ran right into him. Turning in surprise, the farmer found himself staring at a giant of a man, though he stood only a few inches above him. Guessing by his appearance, Rion assumed he was a traveler like himself. Maybe he had also come to inspect the Fighter's Pit. That or he just wanted to see people beating each others faces in.

"No problem," he answered to the man's apology. When he asked for Rion's business in the Pit, Rion paused for a moment. "Isn't it obvious?" he continued. "I came here to fight somebody. I mean it is called the 'fighter's pit'." Rion would have cut off there, but he thought it only appropriate to throw the question back at the man before him. It was at least a start.

"And what about you?" he asked nonchalantly.

Don't feed the Tigers (Sei)

Postby Sei Tendo on April 1st, 2014, 11:08 pm

Sei laughed heartily at the man. True the place was called the 'Fighter Pits', but some of the people here were only on-lookers. He looked at the man more closely. The masked man had a good build and an appearance of an eighteen to nineteen year old. He was about six inches shorter than the Kelvic, with medium light skin, messy dark brown hair, and bottomless deep blue eyes. The man asked the Kelvic what he was doing here.

"Well, I'm training. Even though I'm not on duty..." The striped one trailed off on the last bit, but he then had a good idea. Maybe a spar with this guy, then something more interesting..? He looked at the masked man with a playful glint in his green catlike eyes, deciding to start with an introduction. He extended his hand for the figure to shake, and spoke happily. "I'm Sei; Sei Tendo. Perhaps we could spar together?"

Sei realized he'd yet to ask this mans name. So he asked.

Don't feed the Tigers (Sei)

Postby Rion Whitestone on April 4th, 2014, 10:01 pm

Rion raised an eyebrow when the man explained that he had come to train. "Just what is he trying to do, anyway?" The thought that he was in the presence of a knight never crossed his mind. Not even when the man mentioned being "off duty". Rion assumed it was none of his business and he quickly disregarded his curiosity...at least for the moment.

The man went on to introduce himself as Sei Tendo...and take the initiative by offering a spar between the two of them. Rion was a bit taken aback by how hastily the request was made. "Straight to the point, huh? I can respect that." With that being said, Rion began to pull off his cloak so he wouldn't have to worry about mobility. Unfortunately, Sei decided to ask the farmer his name at the same time. Seeing as how he was still in hiding, Rion tried to think of a believable fake name as quickly as possible.

"Let's see...Rion...Cion...Brion...yeah that can work." Smiling his approval at the fake name, Rion threw his cloak on the floor before telling it to Sei. "The name's Brion. But you can call me blonde for all I care."

With his cloak now off, Rion was about to whip out his broadsword when a thought suddenly occurred to him. "Wait a minute...When you say spar, do you mean as in sword fight...or as in fist fight?"

Don't feed the Tigers (Sei)

Sei laughed a bit. He was often told that he was too blunt, even to the point where he hurt others without noticing. He didn't exactly mean to do it, it just happened. Either way, the man seemed a bit blunt himself. This character identified himself as Brion. Brion, huh? Why do I feel like I'm missing something? "Well Brion, it's nice to meet you."

The next question from Brion made the Kelvic think a bit. Maybe he could do a little fist fight to relieve his stress. Yeah, that's it. I just need to unwind. Sei pumped his fists together, and spoke with excitement. "How 'bout a good ol' fist fight?"

Don't feed the Tigers (Sei)

Postby Rion Whitestone on April 16th, 2014, 12:50 am

Unfortunately, Sei chose a fist fight for their sparring match. Being that Rion relied on his sword for his protection, he had know training whatsoever in the art of hand to hand combat. Sure he had the strength for it, but what he was lacking was the actual skill. "With any luck, he'll be as bad as I am." Maybe that was just wishful thinking.

Bringing his fists in front of his face, Rion decided to start things off with a generic lung, hoping his fist would connect with Sei's left cheek. In that moment, it was briefly forgotten that he still had his gauntlets on. If he actually managed to hit Sei, the impact might have left a swollen bruise on the man's cheek. Or maybe that was just if it had hit Rion's face. For all he knew, Sei could have cheeks made of iron or the ability to shrug of attacks like that with ease.

Don't feed the Tigers (Sei)

Postby Sei Tendo on April 17th, 2014, 12:32 am

The stripped one almost laughed when this Brion took his stance. His hand were blocking his face, which was a definite 'no-no'. It blocked your line of sight, not to mention with your fist so high it took extra time to put your fist down to draw back. But if he doesn't know, I'm not stopping him. Then he noticed Brion hadn't removed his gauntlets. Oh, he wants that kind of fight. Bring it then. The Kelvic narrowly dodged Brion's punch, then he reached in his pocket and grabbed his gauntlets. A studded gauntlet went on his right hand, and a spiked one on his left.

He stepped up, charging Brion, and drew his left arm back for a punch. He then feigned, using his rigth instead to drive his fist into his opponents stomach. He paid no mind to wether or not the blow landed, though he did notice his arms were a bit shakey. He moved on to his next move, aiming to test his partners defense. He spun semicircle in place, lifting his right leg to form a kick. His balance was off, seeing as he still wasn't used to the turn, but he aimed at the side of his opponents ribcage. It was a strong kick, but the worst that would happen would be a large bruise.

Sei drew back, putting a small amount of distance between Brion and himself. He seemed decent, but why he wanted to use gauntlets in a spar the Kelvic would never understand. However, he did know they had advantages from past experience. The main problem that many of his opponents had was that he was pretty petching fast, but his strength was okay too. Unless this guy had some good defense, Sei wouldn't be able to enjoy himself at all.

Don't feed the Tigers (Sei)

Postby Rion Whitestone on April 18th, 2014, 9:48 pm

As big as Sei was, he had a surprising amount of speed that, coupled with the mask obstructing the farmer's vision, made the man a blur in Rion's eyes. Looking around in bewilderment, Rion found Sei just as he aimed a gauntlet covered fist at his masked faced. It came so face, Rion barely had time to react, trying too late to block the attack. But right before it got to his face, the attack suddenly changed. Swinging past his crossed arms guard, a different punch connected right in the pit of his stomach.

He would have fell to his knees from the pain right then and there if Sei hadn't followed up with a last kick. Stumbling from the combined effort, Rion in soft dirt behind him, feeling the tips of his hair taking on a brownish tint from the fall. With a bit of an effort, Rion managed to get to his feet, though he held his wound for a moment in an attempt to conceal the pain. Though it wasn't bleeding, the spiked gauntlets sure made him feel like it was. However, it was certainly nothing Rion couldn't handle.

"Too bad I left my chain shirt at home," Rion thought briefly. "That could have come in handy right about now." Shaking the thought out of his head, Rion rose to got back in his "fist over face" stance before coming at Sei full charge. In his eyes, he hoped to catch the man off guard with a quick succession of punches aimed at his head. But they were flung so wildly, Rion almost thought he was going to hit himself.
