Defiance and Punishment (Edreina)

Anna watched as Edreina followed through with the order she had been given, the water slowly being drawing a circular motion by the golden liquid. The sorceress’s grey eyes flicked occasionally to Edreina, searching for weakness of the spirit and finding a mask of concentration that filled her with slight approval. The task was a seemingly simple one however for one like Edreina it was obviously extremely complex in terms of tasks that her Res could accomplish. Anna’s eyes followed the motion of the res and observed any shakiness that might very well have been apparent, frowning slightly at the Test Subject’s lack of skill and noting there was much work to be done.

It wasn’t annoyance but a slight amount of concern Anna felt when she noted the hysterical way Edreina was throwing herself at this, a sob ripping through her. She was pushing herself too hard, if she kept going with this mindset could very well end up going into Overgiving. Anna cursed low under her breath and knew that she would need to end this lesson on reimancy early, though it irritated her that the other woman had poured all of her Djed out and this was all she could accomplish. Nothing else for it, the Svefra was superior in the realm of the Physical though the Meta Physical was seemingly alien to her.

“Enough! Stop Edreina, draw your res back into yourself and drop the attraction. If you push yourself like this you’ll Overgive. Trust me when I say you’ll wish to be back on that table if you do that.” Anna barked, gripping the other woman’s shoulder and giving it a slight shove.

“You can’t just throw yourself at it like that, if you are reaching your limits you need to stop. If you go too far you could end up a raving lunatic, or simply shatter your ability to function normally completely and just end up staring ahead in one direction for the rest of your life. You also did not hold your incantations up, which you should have done.” Anna said sternly, arching her brows arrogantly.

“You cannot let your magic control you, Test Subject 1A, not ever under any circumstances. You control it, no matter how good it feels or how powerful it makes you feel remember that you are the one who wields it. I’ve seen wizards that allow their magic to rule their minds, sad broken shells of individuals. Trust me when I say you do not wish to end up like that.” The sorceress finished.

Assuming that Edreina did stop the tall sorceress simple would flick her hair, snort, and then turn away from the red head. The tall woman would then climb up out of the makeshift bath, squeezing the liquid out of her hair unnecessarily. As she did this Anna began to lightly tug at the tapestry of her being, the Djed within her and push outwards across her entire body. A sheen of purple liquid covered every inch of her body within a few tick, the urge massaging at her mind but being pushed aside. She focused upon the excess moisture across her body and then willed it to transmute directly to air, drying her off rather simply.

The sorceress would glance over her shoulder at the Svefra, smirking down at her in that arrogant sort of way that was signature to the dark haired woman. When she spoke again her voice bore the quality of smooth honey, though there was something else there in her voice unfamiliar to her. Edreina had nearly messed up in an extremely grave manner, reminding Anna once again that the other woman was inexperienced. Really this whole affair was beneficial to the Svefra as Anna saw it, in her current state she was a danger to herself and others but with a teacher… she had potential. Real potential.

“Your cloak I took from you is over there. Use it to dry yourself off and tear strips from it if you want to bind your brand and needle marks for a bit. Hurry up, because once we are finished I’ll be taking you back to my room and leaving for the Common Labs for the rest of the day. I’ll be back this evening around the time I normally am.” The sorceress said, already starting to dress herself.

OOCRight, I think one more from you should finish this one up. :D

“Enough! Stop Edreina, draw your res back into yourself and drop the attraction. If you push yourself like this you’ll Overgive. Trust me when I say you’ll wish to be back on that table if you do that.”

Edreina gasped again, torn by the urge to defy Annalisa and fear of what would happen if she did. The movement of her Res was the one thing she still had control of in her life. Releasing that would push her back into the terrifying lack of surety she had been subject to a bell earlier. Subject to... life as a Test Subject... balancing on the thin line of favor as a wizard's whims threatened to push her to one side of the other.

Finally, the Svefra dropped her hand and, with it, control of her Res and the water drawn to it. Her shoulders were trembling, now, and her breath came in frantic little gulps as she tried vainly to rein in her emotions. What had been a distraction truly become something of a drug to Edreina, something that alleviated the pain of her new life, both mental and physical. She needed something to keep her distracted and focused on something other than the recent events of her life.

“You can’t just throw yourself at it like that, if you are reaching your limits you need to stop. If you go too far you could end up a raving lunatic, or simply shatter your ability to function normally completely and just end up staring ahead in one direction for the rest of your life. You also did not hold your incantations up, which you should have done.”

The bird man came to mind again, and the redhead cursed in a whisper, mentally admonishing herself as the severity of what she had been doing started to sink in. You cannot lose yourself... Despite what's happening, it can only get better from here... But, it will not if you destroy yourself in hope of holding onto a few ticks of peace. You need to think... You need to survive...

Trust me when I say you do not wish to end up like that.”

It was as if Annalisa had read her mind. She had become addicted to the power and control she had when practicing Reimancy. It was a mistake she would do her best to keep from making again. There were other things she could control, surely... Each breath she took, where she put her feet when she walked... It would all come down to little things, for the time being. Little things would get her through this.

When Annalisa rose from the water, Edreina slipped beneath it once more. At the bottom of the violet pool, the Svefra forced herself to find peace again, to take the situations and learn from them instead of being overwhelmed by them. Don't trust strangers, this is not the Anchorage. Don't pretend that things are brighter than they are, because the light will blind you. Each breath that passes among those you love is a breath truly living, every other seems broken, empty and hollow. Another one of those pesky, senseless little breaths began to pull at Edreina's chest, forcing her to rise above the water and, in the same motion, leave it.

“Your cloak I took from you is over there. Use it to dry yourself off and tear strips from it if you want to bind your brand and needle marks for a bit. Hurry up, because once we are finished I’ll be taking you back to my room and leaving for the Common Labs for the rest of the day. I’ll be back this evening around the time I normally am.”

"Yes... Mistress..." A brown piece of fabric, so innocuous. Who would have known that the mere sight of it would bring that weight to Edreina's heart again as memories flashed behind her eyes and caused them to sting and burn as she rejected them, forcing them to return to memories instead of clouding her present. As impersonally as she could manage, she took the cloak from the ground and ran it roughly over her body, allowing it to touch her skin only for as long as needed for fear that, through touch, it would dredge up more memories.

When that was done, she dropped all but a corner, taking it between her hands. Her muscles tensed and she prepared to tear it before stopping, face furrowing. Perhaps, like Reimancy, she needed a physical representation of her emotions and her memories in order to gain better control over them. With a deep breath, she tore the fabric slightly, whispering beneath her breath: "I will survive..."

Her past was just that. Her emotions tied to it had to be locked away or severed. All that mattered, now, was surviving. To have any chance at happiness again, all she had to do was to live. She tore the fabric a bit further, imagining it was every memory that could bring her pain. From this point on, she would view them objectively, just like a piece of fabric. But would it be so easy? Another bit of tearing, and it was any emotion that could hinder her survival. From this point on, she would only allow herself to feel what was beneficial. With one final tear, Edreina sectioned off her hope. Instead of letting it's light blind her, she would only let it aid her as this fabric would protect her leg.

With thinly pressed lips, she wrapped the strip about the brand on her leg a couple of times before knotting it off. With that done, she turned her eyes to Annalisa and nodded, signalling that she was ready to follow the wizard back to her cell.

It's Not What You Think...

This was a very interesting thread, and I could not help but take the extra time to read through it all carefully. It really sucked me in I admit it. Anna got some excellent points for torture in this thread, and Eddy (poor Eddy) Got some begging! Good for her! Anna I did not give you any reimancy simply because something like this is well within Anna's capabilities. As a master just making a bath is not enough to warrant any points. To get further points you need to actively learn and create new spells that push the limits of your abilities :)

Eddy, I noticed that you requested Hypnotism, but I am afraid I was not able to find it in my reading of this thread. There is a chance that I missed it if it was subtle. I was really caught up in the story, so if you feel you warrant the Hypno experience send me a PM in the Post(s) in which you use it and I will take a closer look :). Good job you two!

Anna please deduct the 16 GM's from your ledger for "Dungeon Costs". Thank you!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your grade, please send me a PM and we can figure it out. :)
