9th Bell
Adi slipped inside the door of the Kendoka Sasaran, Riverfall's armed combat training facility, and was greeted with a communal shout. Flushing, she immediately hurried towards the weapon rack for a dagger. Unfortunately, hers had been snapped in an accident-a moronic accident, what kind of person slammed their blade into a boulder?-and as such she didn't have one with her. Thankfully, the facility provided training weapons. The young woman appraised the weapons in front of her, selecting within moments a simple steel dagger similar in design to the iron weapon she'd broken. Her hand clutched experimentally around the handle of the dagger, and Adi was pleased to find that her wrist barely ached from the motion. That meant she would be okay with a short training session.
It felt amazing to have a dagger back in her hands after almost a full season's worth of time without it. Her eyes reflected her feelings-silver, with gold flecks constantly changing in shape and size and even number.
Glancing around the room, The young Vantha gave the dagger a few experimental swings of the back-and-forth variety to test her wrist and was pleased when it didn't protest more than another flash of pain. This was bearable, she decided. Besides, Caelum gave me that tea. Hopefully if I mess it up again the tea will help.
After the week was up, Adi would take her Kuvan test and become a citizen of Riverfall, tattoo and all. It was something she was looking forward to, but with some apprehension. Physical combat had never been her biggest strength, and was instead something she'd picked up on the fly in Avanthal and honed on her trip down to Riverfall.
The building was surprisingly empty for such a training arena, with only a few people-mostly bulky Akalaks-inside at the moment. Adi flashed a smile towards the Grand Master and indicated the dagger in her hands. He beckoned her towards him, eyes coldly blue and dead serious. Nervous, she made haste to where he stood and adopted a defensive pose.
"Let's see what you've got."
