Character History
Daughter of a Priestess and supposedly a man who speaks with his music...
Wasinda Frostfawn remained an ice maiden until she was twenty-six. If she wasn't a strong priestess of Priskil, she would of stayed one. Wasinda was married into the Snowsong hold to a middle-aged musician that had lost almost everything. He lost his first wife to a really bad illness, out of the seven children -all males- he had, only three stayed in Avanthal while the others lost interest in their culture and wanted to explore others, causing them to leave Avanthal and explore the world. The middle-aged man had nothing but his music for awhile. He fell in love with Wasinda the minute he laid eyes on her. The newly Priestess of Priskil was perfect in every way to him, he was surprised that she was an Ice maiden. It only took four days for them to be married and not soon after, Wasinda got pregnant with her first child, actually her first three kids. Wasinda was pregnant with her first set of triplets. All boys. Wasinda and her husband tried again to only have yet another boy.
A year after their fourth baby boy, they realized they wanted a girl. Over and over again, they tried for one and had no luck at all. It was horrible, and after almost two seasons of trying, they given up on it. The couple didn't want to give up on having their girl but, Wasinda was suppose to visit the Spires and convince the intelligent race known as Jamoura to build a shrine dedicated to the goddess, Priskil.
The Priestess' plan started out very successful. But while down in the Spires, she ran into a dhani. He had separated from his nest of rattlers out of curiousity and the closest place he could visit was the Spires. The dhani, who's name was Sssuresssfi, accidentally bumped heads with Wasinda in a public location. The minute he laid eyes on her, he fell in love. Ssuresssfi wanted no other woman in the world but her and after asking her out multiple times -knowing that she was a married woman- and being rejected, he grew frustrated. Ssuresfi took the women forcefully just by knocking her over the head a few times.
Wasinda didn't remember anything after that. She only recalls becoming pregnant, leaving the Spires and telling her husband the great news, thinking it was his child. They were both excited and prayed multiple times to the goddess, Morwen, to give them the daughter they've always wanted. Indeed, the couple got what they wanted, a beautiful little girl. The little mixed blood was given the name Rosalyn and at first, had no trace of Dhani in her. It wasn't until she opened her snake-purple eyes, they saw she was different, and everything clicked for Wasinda.
The young girl was not a child of her husband, but that really didn't mean anything to them. Wasinda and her husband treated Rosalyn like the kids they had together, maybe a little bit better since she was their only girl. The couple coddled her, and despite her being different, raised her as a vantha. The Snowsong and other holds respected the parents' wishes and acted as if Rosalyn's snake eyes didn't exist.
Rosalyn didn't know her eyes were a problem, until her older brothers teased her about them. Unlike her parents, the boys weren't protective towards their sister and did the most damage to her. Rosalyn didn't have the best brothers. Only one stuck by her side, and that was the one closest to her in age. The two were so close, most people mistaken them for twins. But Rosalyn's eyes obviously set them apart. While her brother took up different instruments, she took up dancing and singing. When all the other children were sleep, the two were still up, creating their own songs in the practice room. Whatever one did, the other had to figure out what they could do to benefit them.
Again, they were very close. Things didn't start going down hill until they were around the age of eleven. Like most kids, they played games. It started out as a very fun game, but they got caught up and accused each other of cheating. Neither one of them was cheating and instead of telling them that, Rosalyn's parents took her side and scolded their son for being so mean to his only sister. After that day... the two grew apart and the one brother Rosalyn felt she could depend on, became her worse enemy. They were no longer working together or practicing songs with each other. The two got into more arguments, and fights and he soon left Avanthal. Rosalyn's brothers will never let her forget that either."You are a poisonous snake, and you chased off Willow with your venom," they would tell her almost each and everyday. The mixed blood's spirit was crushed, she truly felt like it was her fault her brother left.
As Rosalyn got older, she began to grow curious about love and what it meant. Around the time she was thirteen, Rosalyn met a boy named Joey Iceglaze. Joey and Rosalyn bonded in many ways. They have so much in common, and connected and Joey overlooked Rosalyn's eyes. The more time they spent together, the more they began to like each other. With both of their parents' permission, Joey and Rosalyn became an item, which was very unusual. But Wasinda and her husband felt their daughter wouldn't have another chance at love in Avanthal. They just hoped and prayed the relationship would soon turn into marriage.
It almost made it to marriage. By the time Joey turned sixteen, which was in the Spring of 513 AV, they decided to start planning out the wedding. Rosalyn only had three more seasons before she turned sixteen herself. Everything seemed to go perfect. Rosalyn wasn't prepared for marriage but she didn't want to lose Joey once she turned sixteen. The people of Avanthal also filled her head with negativity about Ice maidens.
When she finally convinced herself she was ready for marriage, the most terrible thing happened. Joey was found dead just outside of the city. What he was doing out there? Nobody really knows and no one really wants to find out. Except Rosalyn who was only two seasons away from turning sixteen now. For once, her brothers didn't blame her because they truly felt sorry for their sister. Even they knew how rare it was for another man to look her way. |
